Chapter 1
CHAPTER 1
“After a year of war, the Emperor of the Salmania Empire has finally signed the letter of surrender. This marks a tremendous victory for our nation — and we owe this glorious triumph entirely to our great War God!”
Scott listened to the news anchor’s excited voice from the television, his expression calm.
Beside him stood a man in full military uniform, his chest covered with medals. He was visibly moved and saluted Scott respectfully.
“War God! The President has arranged a celebration banquet in your honor tonight at the Divine Palace. He wants to present you to the nation and broadcast your great achievements…”
Scott absently scrolled through his phone, his tone flat. “Tell the President I won’t be attending.”
The man froze, visibly confused. “But… the war is over. You should enjoy the victory…”
Scott shrugged. “Williams, I’ve already enjoyed the spoils of war on the battlefield. Now, I have something more important to do.”
Williams grew nervous. “Something more important? Has another nation declared war on us?”
Scott smiled faintly. “No. I’m going home.”
“Home?” Williams looked surprised. Scott had never mentioned his family before.
“Yes. I haven’t been home in four years. My wife’s been waiting that long too — and she still doesn’t know who I really am…” Scott smiled. “If she finds out I’m the War God, I wonder how happy she’ll be.”
“But…” Williams tried to protest, but Scott raised his hand, cutting him off.
“No buts. Get things ready. I’m going home. Now.”

At the airport, a man in a tailored high-end suit stood at the front of a long convoy. Every vehicle behind him was a top-tier executive stretch limousine, drawing astonished stares from passersby.
“My God, who are they here to pick up with such a luxurious motorcade?”
“The man at the front looks familiar… Wait—WTF! Isn’t that the mayor’s secretary?”
“The mayor’s secretary? Are you serious? Then… does that mean the person in the car is the mayor?”
“Could it be… the president is coming?!”
As the crowd gathered, murmurs and speculation swirled in the air.
Just as Scott stepped off the plane and exited the terminal, his expression stiffened at the ridiculously ostentatious welcoming party. He walked straight toward the mayor’s secretary, a frown already forming.
“You’re here to pick me up?”
The secretary frowned, eyeing Scott’s plain and modest clothing with visible displeasure.
What was this guy thinking? Couldn’t he see that everyone else here was dressed in designer suits and arriving in expensive vehicles? The onlookers were stunned that someone like Scott dared approach the mayor’s secretary so casually.
“Is that guy insane? Dressed like that, without even an entourage, and he dares walk up like that?”
“Ha, watch—he’s about to get a serious beating from the mayor’s bodyguards!”
The secretary waved his hand, and two suited bodyguards stepped forward, ready to teach Scott a lesson.
Scott gave a dismissive smirk and tossed his backpack to the ground. Two bodyguards? Laughable.
He’d once faced ten of Salmania Empire’s legendary warlords alone on the battlefield and slain eight of them, securing a decisive victory. These two were barely even warm-ups.
Just then, the door of the lead car flew open. A middle-aged man rushed out in panic and stormed up to the secretary—
Smack!
He slapped him hard across the face.“Idiot! What do you think you’re doing? How dare you disrespect our honored guest!”
The mayor quickly bowed to Scott, his voice trembling. “Forgive us, sir! They didn’t recognize you and offended you. Please, don’t lower yourself to deal with small men like them.”
Scott’s voice was cold. “I wasn’t planning to. I just want to know—who told you to come? Didn’t they know I want to keep a low profile?”
The mayor wiped sweat from his forehead and spoke carefully. “It was General Williams… He told me you were coming and begged me to make sure everything was prepared properly.”
Scott clicked his tongue. Of course it was Williams—he always loved pulling stunts like this.
With a sigh, he picked up his backpack and said to the mayor,“Don’t let this happen again. Just take me home.”Without another glance, Scott walked past the trembling secretary and bodyguards and got into the lead car.
The mayor shot the secretary a vicious glare. “If you ever insult him again, you’ll be a corpse. Now take everyone else and leave — I’ll personally drive Mr. Grayson home.”
The secretary was shaking, wiping cold sweat from his forehead. “I’m sorry, Mr. Mayor… You don’t need an escort?”
The mayor nearly slapped him again. “You idiot! Didn’t you hear Mr. Grayson say he wants to keep things low-key? And besides… with him, how could there possibly be any danger?”
The secretary had no idea who Scott really was, but he obeyed the order with a bewildered expression.
As the motorcade drove away, the crowd finally began to disperse — buzzing with excitement and speculation about what they had just witnessed.
Scott arrived quickly. His heart raced as he nodded a goodbye at the mayor and then walked up to the door. He took a deep breath, expecting to see Laura’s beautiful face after so many years of being away.
But when the door opened, a gruff man in his fifties walked out with suspicion in his eyes.
“Can I help you?” the man asked, eyeing him.“Where’s my wife, Laura? This… this is my house,” Scott said.
The man scoffed. “Not anymore. I bought it four years ago.”
“That’s not possible. We lived here,” Scott replied.
“Well, I think your wife sold this property to me,” the man said. “Wait here.”
It didn’t take up to two minutes before the old man returned with papers. “Here’s proof. She sold it to me.”
Scott stared at the documents, shocked. “She sold our home?”
The man softened. “You look lost. I’ll give you her new address, but then you need to go.”
Scott took the paper and left. He got into a cab and gave the driver the address. As the car moved through the city, he stared out the window in silence, his thoughts drifting back.
Five years ago, Laura had come home in tears one particular night. She had taken Scott’s car without telling him to go to a party and accidentally hit a man while driving. In a panic, she didn’t stop to attend to the man; she sped away. The police traced the car back to their house, but they didn’t know who was driving. Laura begged Scott to take the blame for her. Blinded by love, he had agreed, turning himself in for a crime he didn’t commit.
Before he was imprisoned, Scott had transferred ownership of their house and his business to Laura. It was a successful company, and he trusted her to manage it while he was gone.
In prison, Scott waited for letters, phone calls, visits. But none came from Laura. Not even once.
A year into his five-year sentence, the government offered him an early release if he enlisted in the military. Desperate for freedom, he accepted and joined the military. Over the next four years, he fought on brutal frontlines, earned medals, and rose through the ranks to become a war hero, known to many as the God of War.
“Sir, that’ll be 20 dollars!” The voice of the cab driver drew Scott out of his thoughts. The driver had arrived at the new address where Laura was said to live.
The taxi stopped in front of a big house that looked extraordinarily huge, fancy — nothing like the small home he and Laura used to live in. He paid the driver and stepped out, standing still in front of the mansion.
The neighborhood was rich and quiet. Everything looked expensive. Scott frowned immediately, growing suspicious. This didn’t make sense. Laura could never afford a place like this — not even after selling their old house.
What happened while he was gone?
He approached the iron gate, hoping for answers, but the security guard quickly stepped in his way.
“Can I help you, sir?” the guard asked politely, although his eyes were scanning Scott up and down. Dressed so casually, Scott didn’t look like the type of visitor that belonged in this neighborhood. All the guests that came to that house looked high-class.
“I’m looking for my wife, Laura Grayson,” Scott said tightly. “I was told she lives here now.”
The guard eyed him for a moment. “This is the home of the Harringtons, sir. The owners aren’t here right now.”
“Owners?” Scott blinked, his heart racing fast. “What do you mean ‘owners’? Is Laura not living here by herself?”
“No, sir,” the guard replied. “She’s here with her fiancé. They’re busy with their wedding preparations currently. The couple’s not home right now.”
Scott froze, struggling to process the words. “Fiancé?” he repeated, his voice cracking from the disbelief. His chest tightened, the shock sinking in. What was going on?
“The wedding is in a few days,” the guard continued, unaware of the storm brewing inside Scott. “You’ll have to come back later if you need to speak with her.”
Scott’s thoughts were jumbled.Wedding? Laura was marrying someone else? The guard’s words felt like a slap in the face.
“No... no, there must be a mistake somewhere,” Scott said, his voice shaking, even though he tried to compose himself. “I—I’m her husband. I am Laura’s husband. We’ve been married for years. She can’t be getting married to someone else!”
The guard looked at him with what seemed like pity.
He met Scott’s gaze and spoke again. “I’m sorry, sir. I don’t know all the details, but I know they’re getting married soon. You might want to come back another time.”
Scott let out a bitter laugh. He couldn’t believe it. He still believed it was all a mistake. “This doesn’t make sense. She wouldn’t—”
He stopped, his voice faltering, unable to finish the thought. The guard seemed unsure how to proceed. “Sir, they’ll fire me if they discover I let a stranger stay here while they’re away. Please, you’ll have to leave.”

Ascension Of The Almighty General Chapter 83
GALE'S HOUSE Laura stood in the living room, arms crossed, staring at Gale as he poured himself a drink from the crystal decanter on the side table. His movements were slow. She knew that was his way of telling her he wasn’t in the mood for whatever she had come to say. But she had to say it anyway.“Gale,” she began. “I think… maybe we should at least reconsider meeting with Scott.”Gale didn’t even turn around. He poured the amber liquid into his glass and took a sip, then set it down. “Reconsider?” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Laura, we’ve been through this. There’s nothing to reconsider. That man doesn’t get a seat at my table.”She took a deep breath, forcing herself not to snap. “I know you don’t like him—”“I don’t like him” Gale cut in sharply, turning to face her now. “and I don’t trust him.”Laura hesitated. He was already getting defensive, but she couldn’t stop now.“Listen to me. I don’t like him and I don't trust him either,” she admitted, taking a few ste

Ascension Of The Almighty General Chapter 82
BENJAMIN'S HOUSE Benjamin’s voice thundered through the spacious living room, reverberating off the high ceilings and floors.“Where the hell are they?” he barked, standing beside the bar, his wine glass untouched on the table. His jaw was clenched so tightly that the veins on his neck pulsed with restrained anger. “I sent your men to track Scott—Scott, a man who shouldn’t even be able to walk in the open without someone spotting him since they have his picture—and you’re telling me no one has reported back in days?”The thug standing in front of him, a tall man in his early forties with a shaved head and anxious eyes, shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He wiped his palm against his jeans. “Boss, I… I’ve been trying to get in touch with them. None of their numbers are going through. I even sent out word in the usual corners, talked to guys who know our routes. Nothing.”Benjamin’s eyes narrowed. “You’re telling me you lost every single man I sent after him? Every one of t

Ascension Of The Almighty General CHAPTER 81
SCOTT'S GUEST HOUSEScott’s car pulled into the driveway just after midnight. The night was heavy with silence, broken only by the soft sound of the engine as he parked and stepped out. He moved to the passenger side and opened the door, carefully gathering Lisa into his arms. Her head lolled gently against his chest, her breath slow but steady...still under the drug’s influence.Scott tightened his grip protectively around her. He didn’t know this woman very well, barely more than a name and a face, but something about tonight had made her his responsibility.Once inside, Scott kicked the door shut and carried her to the bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed, brushing a strand of hair from her face before adjusting the pillows to make her comfortable. For a brief moment, he simply stood there, watching her sleep. Her brows were slightly furrowed, as if she were still trapped in a distant nightmare. He’d seen this kind of fear before—in the eyes of people who had narrowly escaped so

Ascension Of The Almighty General Chapter 80
THE HOSPITAL Scott walked back into Lisa’s hospital room. He pushed the door open slowly and kept holding it for the doctor trailing behind him. The moment he stepped inside, his eyes landed on Lisa. She looked smaller somehow as she was curled up slightly against the hospital bed’s mattress. She still looked tired. The doctor gave Lisa a warm, polite smile. “How are you feeling now, Miss?”Lisa sat up a bit straighter, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper. “Better,” she said.Scott moved to the foot of the bed, folding his arms across his chest. The doctor stepped closer and checked the chart clipped to the bed. He pulled the stethoscope from around his neck and gently pressed it to Lisa’s chest. “Take a deep breath for me… good. And another… alright. Any dizziness? Nausea?”Lisa shook her head, her hands fiddling with the edge of the blanket. “Not anymore.”The doctor straightened and gave her a satisfied nod. “That’s good to h

Ascension Of The Almighty General Chapter 79
Laura’s arms were crossed tightly over her chest as she glared at Damian like he’d just asked her to go shine Scott’s shoes.“Wait are your really being serious right now?You can’t be serious,” she said, her voice sharp. “You actually want us—me and Gale—to sit across from that piece of trash and negotiate? For what? So he can feel big again?”Damian leaned forward with his elbows on his knees, trying to stay calm. “Laura, this isn’t about ego. If we don’t settle with Scott, this could get ugly. Real ugly.”Laura rolled her eyes. “Scott is a nobody, Damian. He was nothing before Gale, and he’ll remain nothing. He thinks just because he’s out of jail, he can march in and take back what he left behind? No. That’s not happening.”Damian sighed. “You keep underestimating him, and that’s dangerous. He’s got evidence, Laura, real stuff. We’re talking forged documents, altered ledgers, a bunch of emails and forged signatures. Those things don't look good in court.”She whipped her head aroun

Ascension Of The Almighty General Chapter 78
Laura walked down the quiet hotel hallway leading to Damian's hotel room. When she reached Damian’s room, she pulled the keycard from her purse, the one he had left for her at the front desk, and slid it into the lock. The door clicked open. Once inside, She kicked off her shoes, threw her purse on the armchair, and flopped onto the bed with a dramatic sigh. A soft smile curved her lips as she reached for her phone and dialed Damian. He picked up almost instantly. "Hey there." “Hey,” she said in a playful tone, “I’m here...laying on your bed. You better not keep me waiting too long.”Damian chuckled faintly on the other end. “I’m already on my way, just five more minutes.”“Better be,” she replied, her voice teasing. “I’m not in the mood to wait all day.”“Relax, Laura. I’m coming.”She smiled and ended the call, stretching out on the bed. She turned on the TV and fixed her attention on whatever happened to be playing.A few minutes later, the door opened, and Damian stepped in. He
