“He is back!” The declaration shot through the top elites chamber like lightning. Every member of the top ten elites froze with their jaws dropping in disbelief. The mind link from High Warden Talor had just confirmed the impossible. Kai had emerged alive from the Hall of Death.

“That’s not possible,” one of them muttered with panic flaring in his voice.

Lawson’s fists clenched. “No one has ever come out of the Hall of Death alive. Not in the history of Ironsphire. How did he survive it?” His voice cracked out.

The others looked at each other with dread tightening in their guts. The confidence they once wore like armor broke. One of them slammed his fist on the wall. “Damn it! We were so close to resetting the order of this school! With Kai alive, we can’t push our agenda.”

“He’ll fight us,” another growled. “He’ll oppose every rule we try to pass.” His heart thudded as he spoke.
