“Host, your body's evolution stats is available. Should I give you a quick run of it?” Theon stayed silent, not saying a word.

The system waited without getting any reply, so it continued. “After your physique evolution last night, your body also improved. Your internal organs are stronger now, your tendons tougher. Technically, you've become a human weapon. A hit from you, even without aegis has become lethal. Do you want to test out your new found physical strength?”

Theon’s brows furrowed.

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

The satisfied smile on Vayka’s face froze, then gradually dissipated like mist under a scorching sun. His eyes dropped to Theon’s arm. It was bleeding alright, dark red welling from the shallow gash where the blade had kissed flesh. But there was no sizzling sound. No burning. No wisp of black smoke rising like a funeral pyre. Nothing to indicate that the holy artifact had made contact with something filthy, something unclean, an anomaly that should have recoiled and dissolved on contact. Theon just stood there, staring down at the bleeding wound on his arm. Vayka's gaze returned to the arm, careful and deliberate as he scanned and inspected it for possible missed clues. There was nothing. Only Theon parting the torn fabric of his sleeve to inspect the extent of the damage, turning his forearm this way and that as if assessing a minor inconvenience. The boy watching from the dark corner frowned, his brows knitting together. This didn’t make sense to him. Not one bit. “This…” The

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Theon’s gaze settled on the sword whose radiance was blinding, a cold white blaze that washed the cafeteria in stark light and made the polished stone floor gleam like ice. Even an idiot could tell what was going on in Vayka’s mind. Theon was no idiot. He was as smart as they came. His eyes moved to the girl on Vayka’s right, then to the red-haired boy on the left. Each was holding a powerful yang-based artifact, the kind that scorched the air and made the space around them ripple with heat. If he was indeed cultivating yin energy or using daegis, which was the energy of the abyss, to fight, one slash and he would sing like a canary, turning to a pig on the chopping block. His eyes gleamed. How ruthless. Truly worthy of families who paved their reputations using the blood and bones of other people. Indeed, what the snake vomited was always long. They must have heard about what happened to Kane and Jareth, and wanted to use this opportunity to eliminate him before he came for the

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Theon slowly picked up a wooden spatula on a nearby table, slowly weighing it in his palm. He didn't panic, shocking those coming for him. The boy watching from the dark corner adjusted his position again, straddling the chair. The show was getting more and more interesting. Theon noticed their hesitation and stepped back, towards the door. The boy who was initially apprehensive over his unnatural calm exhaled. It seemed the loser was still very much what he was; a massive trash. Loser of the highest order. Theon looked around him. He was currently broke. He couldn't afford to put furniture in his own room, how will he get money to replace the tables in the cafeteria? That was such a massive loss he was unwilling to hear. Breaking bones was fine, but crushing tables? No no no. That couldn't be done. Brody on seeing the sheer number of people standing up, ready to beat Theon to a pulp smirked. He jumped over the table, and broke a bowl in the process. Theon gasped and looked aroun

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Theon gave him the side eye, lips still curled, and continued on his way to the counter where food was being served. His steps were unhurried, casual, as if he were strolling through a garden instead of a battlefield. “Stop right there.” He pretended not to hear the ear-splitting howl behind him, as if a mad dog was barking. No, a fly buzzing, not worth his time. He didn’t break stride. As he walked past a table immediately after Brody’s, a hand shot straight to his shoulder, grabbing. The fingers dug in, nails biting through fabric. “You loser, didn’t you hear Brody asking you to stop?” Theon’s footsteps halted. He cracked his neck slightly, the sound sharp in the silence. A flash of russet showed in his emerald eyes, there and gone like lightning behind clouds. The one who grabbed him scoffed, emboldened. “You still know what’s good for you. Get down on your knees immediately and kowtow to Brother Brody. If he doesn’t forgive you, forget about leaving this place.” “Oh?”

  • CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

For two full minutes, no one said a word. The air in the cafeteria thickened, heavy with held breaths and widening eyes. Judging from Theon’s posture—shoulders squared, chin lifted, weight balanced on the balls of his feet—it seemed like he had come prepared to make trouble. “That spineless wimp actually dared to attack Brody?” someone muttered from the left side of the hall, the words barely louder than a breath. Theon’s gaze slid toward the speaker, slow and deliberate. The girl immediately felt a chill crawl down her spine, as if winter had settled between her shoulder blades. His eyes were like a dark abyss, endless and swallowing. Her chest tightened, her arrogance draining out of her like water through a cracked cup. Her gaze dropped to the polished stone floor, unable to meet his. Theon returned his attention to the so-called Brody. He was an upper-average student, considered strong on a normal scale, but not exceptional. However, because he came from a powerful backgroun
