Didn’t Do Enough.

It was only a matter of time before the media tore down the remains of Liam Crest to pieces.

It was a pretty beautiful sight to behold.

There were countless clips of the press conference all over the place. TikTok, Twitter, YouTube...and surprisingly, some mid-day talk shows had already started out with dissecting every syllable of his self-incriminating call.

Liam's name was trending for all the wrong reasons. Again.

And then major outlets ran some variations of the same headline:

"Ex-CEO Exposed in a Viral Leak: Sinclair Hale Flips Scandal on The Crest Empire."

Looked like he'd been trying to buy back the trust of a few investors. Maybe an attempt to bounce back? Whatever, the main point is, they dropped him.

His number of his followers on his socials has drastically reduced to almost nothing.

Standing in the middle of my quiet and cold office, I was hardly satisfied.

And then I recalled something.

  • Beautiful.

BeautifulSinclair’s POVHer lips were soft. Warm. And for a second, I didn’t even move because my brain short-circuited at the fact that April was actually kissing me.Then instinct — or maybe something a little more dangerous — kicked in. My hand slid up the small of her back, pulling her just slightly closer as I kissed her back. Not rushed, not sloppy, just enough pressure to feel the way her breath caught against my mouth. She tasted faintly like the whiskey we’d been drinking — sweet and sharp at the same time — and something about that mix had me feeling like I was on the edge of doing something I’d regret.Emphasis on the something I would regret. It wasn’t a long kiss, but it felt like it was. My mind went quiet in that dangerous way, where every bad idea suddenly felt like the only idea worth having.I pulled back just enough to breathe, my voice low. “April… I’m married.”Her eyes were slightly glassy from the alcohol, but her smirk was perfectly clear. “It's a contract mar

  • Beauty Underneath The Mask.

Sinclair’s POVIt felt nice winning. Now that I'd accomplished the thing that brought me here, I actually got to take a good look at Zurich. It was a really nice city to be honest. Even more beautiful than Avalon.April walked beside me, her steps lighter than yesterday, her eyes brighter. The constant little crease between her brows was gone, replaced with something akin to relief. It's how I felt too. Trying to get this contract put pressure on us, it was on a whole nother level.“I still can’t believe we actually got him to sign,” she said, shaking her head. “When do we leave for Avalon?”“Tomorrow morning,” I told her.Her grin widened. “So… we’ve got time to enjoy Zurich?”I glanced at her. “Unless you’d rather spend it locked in a conference room going over Q3 projections.”She shot me a mock glare. “I’ll take the view, thanks.”She looked happy and bubbly but that didn't cover the worry in her eyes. Looking at her closely, you'd know she was trying to make most of her time here

  • We Don't Rely On The Word Nice.

Sinclair's POVThe time was about five thirty in the morning and Zurich was still sound asleep with the silence sounding so deafening.Standing by the window of my hotel room, I felt the mug grow lighter in my hand, a total contrast to whatever thing the day held for me.I'd already put on my suit. It looked so perfect, just as it was supposed to.Running through the plan again in my head, I rehearsed the numbers and projections to avoid screwing this over.My thoughts got interrupted by a knock on the door.Could tell it was April."Come on in,"I said just loud enough for her to hear me and she walked in, already dressed in her charcoal gray suit too.She had her hair pulled back in an elegant knot."Just wanted to let you know it's almost time to leave,"she reminded and I nodded."Mhmm. I know that,"I replied, looking at her a minute too long."Uh...is there something in my face?"she asked, her hand reaching up for her face."No, it's not that. It just kind of looks like you've been

  • All My Fault.

April's POVJust as the jet's landing gear hit the runway, it made a sound that had me waking up from my dreamless sleep..I felt a dull ache in my neck and a fuzzy feeling behind my eyes.Pushing myself upright, I blinked against the flood of pristine morning light that was pouring through the cabin windows. It took a couple of minutes before my mind caught up to my body.Right.We'd succeeded with the Monte Carlo incident.I could recall the casino floor. The overwhelming scent of expensive perfume and cheap cigar smoke. The game we'd played. The look on his face when he realized he'd been tricked. Scammed. The thrill of everything was like a potent drug, I couldn't help but grin at the memory.Glancing around the cabin, my smile disappeared. I found Sinclair back in his normal world. You know, a picture of corporate perfection. He had his jacket buttoned up, his tie was in a perfect knot, and he seemed busy with typing on his laptop while having his poker face on.The door of the j

  • Playing To Win.

She gave me a slow, knowing smirk before tapping her temple with a perfectly manicured nail. "Everyone has a past, Bossman."The silence that followed her words was charged with a tension that had nothing to do with the mission. I didn't know her. Not really. And that, I realized, was the most dangerous game of all. I guess.La Domina Royale Casino was a symphony of excess. Gold leaf ceilings, chandeliers that dripped with a thousand crystals, and the quiet, seductive hum of a live jazz band. The air was thick with the scent of money, perfume, and cigars. We walked in as a unit. Alaric Dane, the grizzled oil titan, and Nessa, his stunning, impossibly young companion. Heads turned. Every eye was on us, and I felt the weight of our personas settle over me like a second skin. I could feel the envy, the speculation, the lust. And I could feel her, a warm, faint presence beside me. She was a shield and a weapon all at once.We scanned the VIP section, our eyes subtly moving over the faces.

  • Everyone Has A Past.

Sinclair's POVThe cabin of the private jet settled into a quiet hum with the gentle thrum of the engines being a backdrop to my thoughts.Hell, I was supposed to be busy with reviewing spreadsheets for Zurich considering how that kind of work kinda soothed me but nope. The numbers refused to hold my attention as my mind kept drifting to April's who was curled up and sleeping peacefully in her pod.She was what I'd call a contradiction. A mix of sharp wit and a sprinkle of her clumsy vulnerability. It was becoming a lot harder to try figuring her out.Was I ready to even try? Definitely not.My personal tablet buzzed and a single red light cut through the dim cabin. Definitely Quinn."What's up?"I asked in a mumble upon picking up."Boss, Intel just broke,"he said and I frowned."Oh? Spill.""It turns out Lucien Marchesi isn't in Zurich right now. Apparently, he's gone off-grid but worry not. We managed to pinpoint him in Monaco. Monte Carlo."So one animal to tackle before the other?
