17. Don, Capos and Jokers

Once a month, the Mafia boss holds a meeting with the Capos through playing poker cards. A person could read a person through playing. Thus, it will be risky for an impostor like Xavier because the members might notice some changes in their boss. However, Gian couldn’t let go of this chance.

“It’s been so long since we last played with you, boss,” Spade said while looking at the cards in his hands.

Holding the cards which Gian distributed, Xavier looked at Spade. Just like the first time he saw him, he’s wearing a Fedora brim hat, black leather gloves, and that excessive smile on his lips.

Capos are the third in rank in the Mafia family. They act like lieutenants, leasing their own section, and have specific activities to operate. Their territories were defined by the rackets they operated.

As for Spade, he operates bars which sell women’s service, narcotics trade, and loan sharks. Spade earns the most in the Capos, which puts him in the highest rank next to Gian.
