Subconsciously opening his status panel, Kingdom couldn’t help but frown.

Why didn’t I level up after all those kills?

Maybe the points earned wasn't enough to push him to level 11?

Or he needed to choose a class first.

Looking over his stats, his eyes stopped on the new word by his class. It piqued his curiosity.

He clicked on it. Another message popped up.

[Congratulations on reaching Level 10. Upon reaching this level, you must choose a class to help shape your future path. Choose wisely.]

[Assessing human… Checking information… Information check complete.]

[Class options have been filtered from hundreds based on your body, latent talent, and potential for future growth. Available classes are…]

[Swordsman]

[Berserker]

[Tank]

[Tamer]

[Warrior]

[Barbarian Berserker]

[Spearman]

The list kept going. Kingdom scrolled for a while before stopping, tired of reading. One thing he noticed immediately: there were no magic classes. No Sorcerer, no Necromancer. Did that mean such powers didn’t exist, or was he just so untalented in that area the system didn’t bother showing them?

He also noticed something else. Beside each class name was a small, colored dot.

“What do those colors represent?” he asked the system, hoping for a clear answer.

[Colors represent the difficulty of the class acquisition quest. Green: Easy. Yellow: Medium. Red: Hard. Golden-colored classes are Special Classes. Only one person in the world may hold each Special Class at a time. If one of the ten Golden Classes is taken, it cannot be chosen again unless the holder dies. Their difficulty varies but is, on average, greater than Red. Their power potential is also significantly higher.]

“Okay, I understand,” Kingdom muttered. “But how do I know what each class does, or what the quest is, before I choose? It’s not showing me anything.”

He was met with silence. The system didn’t answer.

Grumbling to himself, Kingdom kept looking. His eyes stopped on one particular class.

[Beast Warrior]

Looking at it, Kingdom felt a strange pull, a gut feeling this was right. Then he saw its color: a shimmering gold. His initial excitement dropped.

Gold meant it would be an extremely difficult quest. But in return, it was stronger. He had no idea what a ‘Beast Warrior’ even was, but that instinctual pull was strong. It felt like it was made for someone like him, someone with Chaser.

“Damn it!” he whispered to the quiet yard. “Opportunity comes but once. In the face of risk lies reward. If I let this go, I might regret it forever. Right, Chaser?”

Woof! Woof! Chaser gave two sharp barks, as if in agreement.

“Then since you agree, it’s settled! I choose the Beast Warrior class!”

His mind made up, Kingdom didn’t hesitate. He clicked on the golden class name as fast as he could, a sudden fear flashing that someone else might snatch it from him the next second.

Somewhere very far from Earth, in a different galaxy, on a planet so flat it would make flat-earthers weep with joy, there was a forest of impossibly huge trees. Within it lay a unique-looking cave.

Inside the cave, in a dim light, was a throne. It was not ornate, but brutally simple—crafted from solid stone and adorned with the skulls of what looked like dragons and demons. On this throne sat a man.

He had vibrant red hair and was a giant among giants, standing well over two meters tall. His muscles were not just defined; they were like layered slabs of granite. His arms alone were thicker than the thighs of champion bodybuilders. Around his neck hung a necklace of various animal skulls, each emitting a faint, dangerous aura. His eyes were closed, and his face seemed peaceful.

A young woman entered. She wore a bright green dress that hugged her hourglass figure perfectly.

“Greetings, Master,” she said, bowing gracefully.

The man on the throne did not open his eyes. “Xena, why do you still call me Master when I have told you we are family?”

His voice carried no anger, only a deep, warm kindness toward her.

“I would not dare place myself at your height, Master. You saved me from a fate worse than death. I will forever be in your service.”

He let out a sigh, not of anger, but of tired fondness for her stubbornness. “If you insist. What is it?”

“I came to inform you that someone has chosen your class, Beast Warrior. It is from the newly transformed planet far away, called Earth.”

A deep, ground-shaking growl rumbled from the darkness behind the throne. Cold sweat broke out on Xena’s forehead.

“Easy, Dark Void,” the man said calmly. The grumbling ceased, and Xena let out a subtle breath of relief.

The man was silent for a long moment. Finally, he spoke. “Watch this person for me, Xena. Not only watch. Find out what kind of person he or she is. If they do not meet the requirements to inherit my bloodline… kill them. Do not grant them another chance to choose any class. We do not want a repeat of last time.”

“Yes, Master,” Xena replied with another bow, turning to leave.

“Also,” the man’s voice stopped her. “Find out what their inherited skill is.”

“I will, Master.” She gave a final nod and left the cavern throne room.

The man sat in silence for a long time. Then, he spoke to the empty air. “Perhaps I should use my power to watch this person myself. I am curious. What makes them choose my class, a path so many have rejected for centuries?”

With that thought, for the first time, he opened his eyes.

His irises darkened into pure black, then sparked with countless pinpricks of light, like stars being born in the deepest universe. The light grew brighter and brighter until his eyes shone with a pure, gold color.

The crowd dissipated quickly. The stage came down. Kingdom gathered his generals at the mansion, the day's events still heavy in the air."I called you here for a few things." He waited until they were seated. "First: civilian levels. They've stagnated. We've been too busy with invasions and other cities. Each division will take groups out and level them."The generals nodded. No opposition."Second: search teams. We need resources. New mines. Stone for the dwarves, materials for our builders." He turned to James. "We need to send teams farther out. It's dangerous. Send your best."James nodded. "I'll go with them.""Good." Kingdom looked at Lance. "Third: I want to thank your division. What happened today could have been worse. Tell your soldiers I'm grateful."Lance bowed his head. "It's my job, City Lord.""Anyone have anything else?"Shenelle spoke. "Our troops need better equipment."Lance nodded. His armor had been destroyed by the zombie king. His shield was still being repaire

Shock rippled across the old demon's face, but it vanished quickly, replaced by cold composure. "Is this a threat?" His voice was ice.Kingdom chuckled, shaking his head slowly. "No. I'm showing you that I'm powerful. Arrogant or not, this is the truth." He walked to Ava and placed his hand on her side. "I can protect you. I can make you and your people stronger. If you can't see past your hatred to recognize that, then we have nothing more to discuss."The old demon's face twisted with conflict. He turned and consulted with the ten warriors behind him, their voices rising and falling in rapid debate. Some argued passionately against Kingdom's offer. Others remained silent, speaking only when pressed. Kingdom watched, patient. Finally, the old demon returned. "We must discuss this further with our tribe."Kingdom nodded. "We'll be here until tomorrow. After that, this city and its citizens will be gone."The demon nodded and departed with his warriors. Kingdom turned to his generals.

You lose one fight and you're ashamed of yourselves?"They stayed silent, not meeting his eyes."That king was twice as strong as the ones I faced. None of you have anything to be ashamed of. "Do you think they can do it?"Deke stood beside Kingdom on the wall, watching the four generals battle the king below. The clash of steel and the roar of flames drifted up to them, muted by distance."Colton's Inherited Skill won't do much. Kings barely use skills—they rely on raw strength." Kingdom's voice was quiet, analytical. "James's skill is powerful, but it won't turn the tide alone. This comes down to teamwork. They need to weaken the king together and land a decisive blow."Deke nodded slowly. "What will you do with the demons?"Kingdom let out a long breath. "Try to make peace. Even if it means giving them a few of the guilty from this city.""You want them to join your city."Kingdom didn't deny it. "We need everyone we can get. If I can earn their loyalty like I did with the dwarves… that's another strong ally.""Wouldn't it be better to gain human trust first?"Kingdom laughed—a short, bitter sound.
