02. It's Time to Waste Money

Like most people, what Austin did after getting a million dollars at once was of course shopping. He didn't dwell on his sadness for too long, after all with a lot of money everything will be easier, including getting women.

[Exchange Points: 1,350 points]

An hour earlier, he tried to answer some easy questions that the system asked him. As the system mentioned earlier, easy questions were rewarded with 10 Exchange Points for each question. As a result, he answered 129 questions in no time, which increased his exchange points by thousands.

Only this time Austin didn't immediately exchange all those points for money. Maybe later the points will be more useful for other things. Although his poor condition really needs money.

"It turns out that there are tens of thousands of lists of easy questions, if I answer them all, that means I can get hundreds of thousands or even millions of exchange points. I wonder what the questions on the hard level or even the challenging level contain? I'll check it out later. I'd better go to the shopping center to buy some new clothes for me and my mom..." he muttered happily.

The thought of his wearing new clothes with his mom definitely excited him. He couldn't remember the last time his mother had bought him new clothes, Austin himself had never complained about his own clothes which were very worn out and had stitch marks on some parts of them.

For Austin, being able to get through the day smoothly and being able to eat even a little bit he already felt grateful.

Still in his worn uniform, he entered Winston's large shopping center. There were many people passing by entering the shopping center building while holding their shopping bags.

Austin unconsciously compared the condition of the people around him with himself. He lowered his gaze, looking at his own uniform whose color had begun to fade.

"It's not fair... They were all born the same way as me. But why do we seem to be separated by an impenetrable wall? No matter how much I complain, those who were born with a golden spoon in their mouths are clearly on a different level than me."

Austin looked around him. The yellowing blue sky as well as the sounds of vehicles passing by seemed to hypnotize him. He shook his head softly, "Right, so what if they were born rich? I'm also wealthy now. I can buy mother a lot of clothes and jewelry."

With casual steps, he entered the shopping center. I don't know if it was because of his outdated appearance or what, but the people around him looked at him with displeased looks.

Austin himself ignored all the stares. His daily bread besides rice was the condescending stares people threw at him. He was already too used to those types of stares.

His eyes were constantly moving, looking carefully at every shop in the building. Sometimes he also looked at the prices of each item or clothing inside the shops.

[Price: 1,200 dollars]

"Expensive, too expensive. I'd better buy clothes elsewhere..." Austin, whose poor soul still lingered, was reluctant to spend too much money on just one simple outfit.

The few people who saw him could only shake their heads slowly. Just look at the clothes you're wearing, can you really afford to buy thousands of dollars worth of clothes when your own uniform is so worn out? At least that's what they said with their gazes.

"Silvia? Frank?"

While he was busy looking for the cheapest clothes, he saw his ex-girlfriend, Silvia, walking hand in hand with Frank.

The heartache he had forgotten earlier came back to him. Back to the past where Silvia seemed reluctant to hold hands with Austin, but now Silvia was holding another man's hand so intimately.

'Right, I have a lot of money now. Why should I bother looking at the price before buying it?' Like most teenagers who are filled with burning passion, as if the sight of Silvia and Frank on a date awakened the 'extravagant' spirit in him, Austin immediately entered one of the clothing boutiques and picked up all kinds of men's clothes that he thought were suitable for him to wear.

The sight of a shabby teenager taking so many clothes from the boutique at once clearly made the people inside the boutique frown in astonishment. The boutique employees who were in charge of introducing each type of model to the shoppers were suspicious.

It's not that they disrespected Austin, but what person would let a scruffy person shuffle through clothes that cost thousands of dollars per set?

One of the boutique employees immediately approached one of the security guards inside the shopping center and asked him to evict Austin from the boutique.

Austin, who was not paying attention to his surroundings, felt that there was nothing wrong with the way he picked up the clothes he wanted to buy. Looking at the pile of clothes that had filled his hands, the teenager nodded his head in satisfaction.

"This should be enough, right? Time to pay!"

Arriving at the cashier's desk, the cashier himself was confused. Should she deal with this shabby man or just ignore him?

Austin raised a pair of eyebrows as he looked at the silent cashier, "I'm sorry, but aren't you supposed to add up all my purchases? I see you've been silent all this time."

Austin's intense gaze made the cashier feel uncomfortable, so she was forced to do her job, adding up all the prices that the shabby teenager bought. Without saying a word, the cashier immediately gave a list of prices that Austin had to pay.

As soon as Austin saw the number '12,500 dollars' on the small paper in his hand, he was shocked, 'spending that much money really makes my heart hurt...' he thought.

With a casual gesture, Austin took out his old wallet and gave his debit card to the cashier. Unlike what everyone expected, the transaction went smoothly without any problems.

While everyone who saw Austin's departure from the boutique was still silent, Austin himself walked leisurely, intending to find some women's clothing for his mother to wear.

Silvia, who was looking around, saw Austin carrying so many shopping bags. But the girl didn't think that Austin was the one doing the shopping, instead she thought Austin might be working for a rich women.

She didn't pay attention to Austin any longer. For her, Frank choosing a new bag was more interesting than having to look at Austin who was 'working'.

Without realizing it, Austin had spent almost an hour and a half in the shopping center buying so many things. Now that both of his hands are completely full of shopping bags, Austin whose thin body seems to be able to collapse at any time.

"Oh my... It looks like I went overboard. I spent almost 100,000 dollars just like that. Shouldn't I buy a car? Ah, never mind. After all, now I can earn money again just by answering silly questions from the system. Forget the car, I can buy the biggest company's stock at once if I want..." He monologued.

Unbeknownst to Austin himself, Silvia was directing an astonished gaze at him as he entered the taxi, about to head home.

"Why is he going alone? Shouldn't he go with the person who hired him?"
