01. Get Student System

In one of the public schools in the city of Winston, a teenage boy stared at the textbooks on his desk with focus. Understanding every subject matter is his duty as a student, that's what his mother always emphasized to him.

Austin Barnett, a smart and model student at Winston High School. Outsiders may think Austin is a person who is respected and admired by everyone, but in fact it is not what they imagine.

Born in a deprived family made him the subject of ridicule by all students, his mediocre appearance and small body posture seemed to attract bullies to bully him.

There was only one advantage of Austin Barnett, his brain. He was a genius who always won various provincial Olympiads and never lost an academic battle with other participants from any school. That's what makes him the smartest student in Winston High School, it's also what makes him able to survive in school even though others always look down on him.

Occasionally Austin looked at his study table that was filled with marker scribbles. The words 'you poor bastard', and 'you'd rather die than fill our class!' he saw every day.

Honestly, he was tired of his daily life, wiping off the graffiti and receiving unfair treatment every day was definitely not bearable for anyone.

Including Austin himself.

Like most teenage boys, Austin had a girlfriend who was his source of encouragement at school. He thought, even if others belittled and insulted him, at least he had one person who would side with him.

"Alright, class time is over..." Sarah, the math teacher looked at Austin for a moment, "Austin, collect all the student books. Bring them to my desk."

Austin just nodded his head lightly, "okay, miss."

After Sarah left the classroom, all the students completely ignored Austin's presence and just left their assignment books on the table. Austin sighed softly seeing that, never mind, he was used to being treated like that anyway. There was no point in feeling hurt.

Austin painstakingly collected all the students' books and then walked out of the classroom to go to the teacher's room, precisely to Mrs. Sarah's desk.

His pair of nets caught Silvia walking to the other side of the room, unconsciously the corners of Austin's lips curved into a smile. He followed the direction where his girlfriend walked earlier, while he was thinking about romantic things in his head, his fantasies were shattered when he saw Silvia kissing another man in the corner of a fairly quiet classroom.

Instantly his hands went limp, the books he was carrying fell to the floor quite hard, which made Silvia and Frank unlink their lips.

"Who's there?!" shouted Frank angrily, who would dare to disturb his intimacy?!

Silvia was surprised to see Austin standing stiffly at the classroom door staring at them with teary eyes.

"Austin?"

"You... Why would you do that when you're still dating me? Why?!" Austin shouted in disgust. What must a man feel who sees his girlfriend cheating on him right in front of his eyes?

"Austin, this is..." before Silvia could make an excuse, Frank took Silvia's hand and made her stand behind him. He said, "What do you think? Didn't you see our intimacy earlier? You should have guessed it, don't you think?"

Austin's heart was torn apart even more after hearing Frank's words. He wanted to go over to Silvia and reclaim his girlfriend, but seeing Silvia's hand clasped tightly around Frank's, he abandoned his intention and could only hold back his anger.

"Silvia, what this bastard said is true? Are you really cheating on me? Is that so?" asked Austin wanting to confirm the truth directly from Silvia's mouth. But Silvia was just silent, she held Frank's hand even tighter, as if asking Frank to represent her.

Seeing Austin's stubbornness, Frank sighed harshly while rubbing his face in frustration. "I didn't want to tell you about this, but seeing you push my girlfriend, I had to tell you. Actually, Silvia and I have been dating since last year, and the reason why she was able to date you was so that you could do all of our schoolwork together. In short, Silvia is just taking advantage of your intelligence. Do you still not understand?"

Austin's body stiffened as he stared at Silvia in disbelief. It turned out that the girl he had always loved was only using him as an object to improve their academic grades?

His mind was in turmoil, but Austin still picked up the books that had fallen on him. When he turned around to leave Silvia and Frank, some students looked at him with pitying and disdainful gazes.

"Poor thing, having to watch his girlfriend cheat on him with another man..."

"It's not like that, did you hear what Frank said earlier? Silvia was just using Austin to improve her grades. But if I were in Silvia's shoes, I'd probably do the same thing..."

"Right. What is there to be proud of about Austin other than his brains? Frank was supposed to be the model student, but because of Austin and his intelligence, he became the model student. What an embarrassment to Winston High School."

"What am I seeing? Where did that voice come from, too?" he looked around, but all he saw were students looking down on him.

Austin quickly walked into his quiet classroom, put his math assignment book on his desk and checked the blue screen in front of his eyes.

"Did I get the system? No, this shouldn't be possible. This is the real world, not a game. But, what am I seeing now?"

Austin touched the blue screen in front of him hesitantly, clicking on the icon that read 'System Store'. A second later, what was displayed changed. The transparent blue screen displayed several items as well as points that he could exchange using Exchange Points.

Austin clicked the [100,000 dollars: 1 PT] icon just like that. Suddenly, his old cell phone rang, Austin immediately checked it, because he thought his mother sent him a text message, but what he saw on his cell phone screen made him speechless.
