The door creaked open.

Gwen froze. Her eyes widened for a second before she masked it with a smile. “Ethan.” “Gwen.”

Silence stretched between them an uncomfortable one. The kind that brings up old memories neither of them wanted to revisit.

“What brings you here?” she asked.

“I just need to ask a few questions,” Ethan said, flipping open his notebook, avoiding her eyes. “About last night. The Pembroke explosion.”

Her expression changed slightly. “You think I had something to do with that?”

“No,” he said quickly, then sighed. “But you were there, Gwen. With someone. A man. Who was he?”

Gwen’s lips pressed together. “Just some random guy. It was raining, and he looked like he’d been caught in it. I… let him share the taxi. That’s all.”

Ethan studied her face, the way she wouldn’t look at him directly. “Alright,” he said after a moment, shutting the notebook. “Just… be careful, okay? Whoever that guy was, he might be dangerous.”

She gave a small nod. “I will.”

He turned to leave, his footsteps echoing down the hallway. Gwen shut the door softly, her heart racing.

*************

Leon layed lazily across his couch, one arm flung over his head, the other lazily scrolling through his phone.

Account balance:$8,000,000.00

The numbers glowed.

He stared at it for a long second, then whistled. “Damn,” he muttered, smirking. “Guess I’m officially rich now.”

The System hadn’t given him a new mission yet. That was weird. But maybe it was giving him a break , a reward for blowing up a billion-dollar empire. Leon sat up, stretching. “Well, what’s the point of being rich if I can’t enjoy it?”

Within the next few hours,he went on a shopping spree.

The glass doors slid open with a soft whoosh. Leon stepped into the showroom, hands in his hoodie pockets, headphones around his neck, jeans slightly faded. Every inch of him screamed doesn’t belong here.

Rows of polished cars gleamed under the spotlight, machines worth more than most people’s lives.

A black Ferrari SF90 Spider caught his eye.

One of the salesmen, a tall guy with slicked-back hair and a fake smile, strutted toward him. “Uh, can I help you, sir?” he asked, glancing at Leon’s hoodie like it had personally offended him. Leon pulled one headphone off. “Yeah,” he said, pointing casually at the Ferrari. “I want that one.”

The salesman blinked. “That one?” Leon nodded. “Yeah. The black one.”

The man chuckled politely, like he’d just been told a joke. “Sir, that’s a limited edition. Three million dollars. Maybe I could show you something… more affordable?”

Leon raised an eyebrow. “No. I said that one.” The confidence in his tone made the man falter, but old habits died hard.

“Of course,” he said, still smirking. “If you’ll follow me to my desk, I’ll,uh,get the payment process started.”

Leon handed him his credit card. The salesman eyed it, suspicious. Probably expecting it to decline.

He swiped the card. The reader blinked once, processing. Then beeped. Transaction Approved.

The screen showed the full amount transferred.

The salesman froze. His fake smile vanished, replaced by wide-eyed disbelief. “Sir,uh,I mean, Mr.,uh” “Leon’s fine,” Leon said, smirking. “Can I drive it out now, or do I need to fill out paperwork first?”

“N,no, sir! It’s yours!” the man stammered, scrambling to hand over the keys like he was offering them to royalty.

Leon twirled the keys between his fingers, heading toward the car. “Next time,” he said, slipping into the driver’s seat, “don’t judge people by their hoodie.”

The Ferrari roared to life, smooth and loud, echoing through the showroom as he drove out.

Leon leaned back in the driver’s seat, one hand on the wheel, the other scrolling through his contacts.

He found her name. Gwen.

He hit call. The phone rang twice before she picked up.

“Leon?” her voice came through, soft but curious. “Hey,” Leon said. “I was wondering if you’d be free later today. Maybe… we could meet up?”

There was a small pause. Then she said, “Sure.”

He smirked. “So I guess it’s a date.” “Guess so.”

The line clicked off. Leon tossed his phone onto the passenger seat and muttered, “Well, I guess am gonna need a suit for my date.”

He turned the wheel,as he pulled up in front of Marcelli & Sons, one of Gotham’s most exclusive designer stores, the kind where the cheapest thing was a tie worth a week’s rent.

Inside, the place smelled of expensive leather and ego. The sales associate, a man in a crisp vest, greeted him with a smile. “Good afternoon, sir. May I help you?”

Leon adjusted his hoodie. “Yeah, I’ve got a date and I need a suit"

The man blinked, unsure if Leon was serious. “Of course, sir. Right this way.”

Half an hour later, Leon stood in front of the mirror, wearing a black tailored suit. The fit was perfect.

As Leon admired his reflection in the mirror, the salesman reappeared beside him, hands clasped politely.

“May I interest you, sir, with an accessory?” he asked smoothly.

Leon turned his head slightly. “What do you got?”

The salesman’s grin widened. He motioned toward a glass display case filled with luxury watches, each one glittering under the light. “Our finest collection, sir. Limited edition pieces. Every one of them says something… different.”

Leon leaned closer, scanning the watches. Then his eyes stopped on one,a Rolex with a black dial and silver edge.

“I’ll take that one,” he said, pointing casually.

The salesman blinked. “Excellent choice, sir. That’s a Rolex Submariner, handcrafted, valued at”

“Just ring it up,” Leon interrupted, voice calm but final.

The salesman nodded, a little stunned by the certainty in his tone. When the card cleared again, he smiled broadly. “Mr. Vargas,” he said, handing him the box, “you have exquisite taste.”

Leon slipped the Rolex onto his wrist, the cool metal pressing against his skin. He flexed his fingers once, admiring how natural it looked there.

"Yeah,Leon you are one crazy rich vigilante"Leon muttered to himself.

"now time to go pick my date"He added.

Leon’s black Ferrari purred to a stop in front of Gwen’s apartment building.

When Gwen stepped outside, her jaw nearly dropped. “Wow… you look different,” she said, taking in the sharp suit, the sleek car, and the rolex.

Leon smiled faintly. “And you look beautiful.”

She blushed.

Leon opened the passenger door for her. “After you.”

“Charming and rich now?” she teased as she slid into the seat.

Leon chuckled, shutting the door gently before getting behind the wheel.

Across the street, behind a lamppost, a man lowered his camera, then spoke to someone in the phone. “You were right, sir. There’s something weird about this guy.”

The man nodded, eyes following the Ferrari as it disappeared down the street. “I’ll keep watching him,” he muttered.
