Benjamin was shocked when he saw this. How is this possible? His grandfather had personally handed this black card to him, promising that it held up to $3 billion, so what was going on? Why was the payment declined? Did Hunter Whiteridge lie to him? Benjamin immediately threw that thought out of his head. There was absolutely no way a man like that would lie to him about money of all things.

First of all, the man is a Trillionaire, so it would be a very shameful act on his part to fool his newly found grandson, something that had been proven with a DNA test to confirm it. Also, the payment had been declined rather than the black details being incorrect. This means that the black card is indeed legit.

There was also no mention of ‘insufficient balance’, so the issue had to be something else. Unfortunately, the audiences watching this weren't interested in thinking this through.

As soon as the director saw the confusion on Benjamin's face, he snatched the phone from his hands to get a look for himself. “Payment declined, huh?” He chuckled with aicking tone as he stared at Benjamin with disdain. “Well, this ended as expected."

The crowd burst out laughing once more. Benjamin had dug his grave and now, he had to lie in it.

Mrs. Knox began tearing up while shaking her head. “No. God, no. I can't bear to watch this.”

Max could only try and appease the old woman while staring at his best friend with utmost concern.

As for Andrew and Alexa, they have felt a greater sense of superiority once the director confirmed that Benjamin's payment was declined.

“My goodness!” Andrew brought a hand to his forehead as he began laughing boisterously. “And to think I actually gave you a chance to prove something you didn't have! It’s my fault for thinking any good of you. In the end, all you showed everyone here is that not only are you a lowlife scum, you're also a disgusting liar and a thief.”

“Exactly!” Alexa immediately followed up. “That black card must have been stolen from someone unfortunate enough to cross paths with you. You probably didn't have the pin code to withdraw anything and that's why the payment was declined!” She pointed accusingly at Benjamin. “Honestly, at this point, you should be picked up! You're nothing but a delinquent!”

Max and Mrs. Knox were feeling scared for Benjamin. These accusations from Andrew and Alexa would likely be easily believed after what they had just witnessed. Yet, even if the two of them didn't know the whole truth, they know for a fact that Benjamin wasn't a thief.

The crowd, unfortunately, didn't think this way. They began shouting and pointing at Benjamin, calling him a thief and asking for his arrest immediately.

It was at this moment that Benjamin received a notification, and he quickly snatched his phone back before the director could look at it. He found he had received an email from a top bank and he opened it to find the content, noting the most important part.

[Please, activate your card to finalise your payment process.]

Benjamin let out a breath of relief. He was right to believe in his grandfather. It turned out that he simply hadn't activated the card before usage.

In seconds, Benjamin activated his card. He then ignored his surroundings once more as he began filling the black card details once again, ready to donate the $10 million.

“Hey, loser!” Andrew called out to Benjamin. “What are you still doing on your phone, you pretentious bastard?! Who do you think you're still fooling by now?! It's over! You lost, alright?! Now, it's time to keep your end of the bargain!”

Alexa giggled with a mocking tone. “Hey, everyone!” She turned to the crowd. “Don't forget to capture this moment on your phone. Also, let's post this under specific hashtags and then we'll make it trend on all social media platforms!”

Another idea suddenly crossed Alexa's devious mind and she turned her gaze back to Benjamin

“Hold on! Let's make this even better. Since your grandmother is a professional cleaner, then she should go down on her knees and….” She looked down at her lover’s shoes and she smirked. “She must pick Andrew's shoes to properly apologise for what she has done as well.”

At that moment, Benjamin furiously glared up. “Alexa! Watch what you say to my grandmother from now on!” He never expected this woman he used to love with all his heart would go this far. He felt like he had been seriously blind to fall in love with such a woman like this.

“What?! Did I say anything wrong here?!” Alexa daringly challenged, refusing to back down. She then turned to the director. “Sir, what do you say?”

The director glanced at Andrew, eager to please a notable member of the Tyrone family. “Of course, one must take responsibility for their actions. Since both Benjamin and his grandmother have acted unruly, then it's only proper that they both do the needful to correct it. No one is too old to learn a lesson.”

Benjamin tried not to be too surprised by the nonsense this director was spilling. He was basically saying it was okay that his grandmother was ridiculed in public, making it seem like it was nothing but a trivial matter. This pissed him off. How did such a man like this end up as the director of this school?

It was at this moment that the director felt his phone buzzing. He retrieved it from his suit pocket, and he found a notification of a credit alert in the official account of the university.

The director's hand began shaking as he clicked the notification, opening it to find the full content. A sum of $10 million has been paid as donation, and Benjamin's name was there. His world felt like it was about to crash at this moment. “No, how is this possible?!”

This is what's horrifying a lot of the audience, as well as thrilling them at the moment. Those punishments can not be handled by most humans. No one here has ever seen a member of the Whiteridge family be subjected to such a harsh punishment in the Elder Council Hall. It's usually the likes of the Whiteridge soldiers who brave this kind of punishment. Ordinary humans could easily lose their lives.Yet, Elder Biscroft executed this punishment on Benjamin, but there is no complaint because Benjamin was basically classified as a Whiteridge soldier- level defendant, and thus, this measure is allowed. But this degree of gravity increase and electrocuting arrow were actually raised slightly in comparison to the degree that most Whiteridge soldiers deal with here.Back to the present,Elder Biscroft grinned with a cruel expression as he snapped his fingers once again.Immediately, Benjamin felt the gravity around him double, and he was forced back on his knees as it felt like he was being

Elder Biscroft didn't dare glance around the room at the faces of the other elders. He simply clenched his jaw and pointed down at Benjamin.“How dare you make such an insinuation?! I would never look down on your father?! The late Master Dallas is a legend in the history of books of this family!”Benjamin stood firmly on his feet, glaring up at this elder figure.“If that's the case, and you truly stand by what you've just said, you would have never made those remarks about my mother! Caroline Thompson, that's her name! And Dallas Whiteridge loved her! Don't forget that next time, Elder Biscroft!”The room was filled with murmurs, specifically from the lower elders behind the grand seats.“Damn! Did he really talk back to Elder Biscroft?!”“I know, right? Isn't he afraid of the elder activating the gravity punishment once again? The one he was struck with looked like it really hurt.”“I know, but look at the guy. He's completely recovered from it.”“Yeah, isn't he the same person wh

“Quiet! Everyone, pipe down!”The male elder who spoke had an extremely aloof tone to his voice as he gave the order.“Since the long-lost young master of our family is finally here, let's be him shall we?”Both Herbert and Lewis glanced at each other before bowing down at ninety degrees towards these people, but they were directly facing the patriarch for the most part.“We've brought Young Master Benjamin to you as demanded. He now stands before you for the trial that challenges his worthiness of being the current top contender for the position of Heir Apparent.”“Patriarch, Members of the Elder Council, we request that you hold this trial with no prejudices, nor motives, as it greatly concerns the future of this family.”They bowed slightly lower for a few more seconds before rising. Without another word, they both glanced at him, giving him a reassuring smile before walking away. Benjamin watched as these two leading subordinates walked in the direction of the great master, clim

After going through the main hallway on the second floor, they got into an elevator and rode it straight to the fourth floor, getting out to find another long hallway, with a huge pair of doors at the end.Halfway through this hallway they could see that there were Whiteridge soldiers lined up across the walls, all in exquisite uniforms. One could easily see that these soldiers were similar to the group that Herbert McKlin had appeared with when he first showed up. This group of Whiteridge soldiers has to belong to the same elite-tier golden troops that serve the patriarch alone. As they approached the huge doors, they opened slightly, and a muscular and tall middle-aged man walked out of the Council Hall, letting out a sigh of relief when he found that Herbert had returned, and he wasn't alone.“Oh, you're here. Thank goodness. Those goddamn nagging oldies in there wouldn't stop grumbling already, and it's not even time yet.”Herbert chuckled.“This is the elders we're talking about

Hannah heard her daughter's whispered words and turned to her to find an immense look of anger and dejection on her face. She attempted to reach out and hold her face, but Veronica turned away.“No wonder Grandpa even went as far as to provide him with soldiers from his own troops as his security unit. It never made sense to me, until now. So it turns out that he was extending the love he could no longer shower on his favoured son to his grandson.”Those words ‘favored son’ immediately brought Hannah's emotions down a notch. She couldn't help but chuckle with a bitter tone.“Even after all these years, that bastard brother of mine is still haunting me. Goodness! Well done, Dallas. Well done.”Herbert had nothing else to say. He understood that with this revelation done, no one would dare bully Benjamin like this ever again. He turned to whisper to Benjamin.“It's time to head up to the council hall, Young Master. Your grandfather and the Elder Council are waiting for you.”Benjamin n

Hearing this, whispers rise louder as people begin picking up on what Herbert was going to say. Gasps filled the air one by one as they finally figured it out.“No way!”“I….It can't be!”As for Veronica M, she frowned deeply at this revelation, feeling her heart fill up with greater hatred for Benjamin after finding out that he's actually the son of a legitimate child of her grandfather. She turned to Hannah.“Mom, what the heck is Prime Butler Herbert talking about…”She trailed off as she noticed that her mother had a frozen expression on her face, almost haunted, as she stared up at Benjamin with something akin to newfound understanding.“He's….oh my goodness! It's him. He really looks like him.”Veronica raised an eyebrow in growing confusion.“What the heck?! Mom, what are you seriously on about right now? Who looks like who? Benjamin? Who did he look like?”She felt a firm hand on her shoulder, making her turn to find a weird look that her father was giving her. She calmed dow
