Sign it, Alex.”
“If you don't, you will see the ugliest part “ “Sign it,” Sophia's voice cracked through the visitation room. Alex thought to himself what had come over to the woman of his dream. A paper was slid across the table, right in front of Alex’s handcuffed hands. Alex blinked, staring at the top of the page: DIVORCE AGREEMENT. He looked up, expecting to see a joke, but the woman sitting across from him wasn't wearing the white wedding veil they had planned for three years ago. Sophia wore a tailored designer suit, her earrings sparkling under the flickering fluorescent light of the prison visitation room. “Sophia?” Alex asked, “What is this? Today is my release day. We’re supposed to finish our wedding ceremony... Did someone threaten you? Tell me. Oh no, come on, who forced you to do this?” Sophia let out a sharp laugh. “Threaten me? Alex, don't be naive. Nobody forced me. This is entirely my own choice.” She crossed her arms, looking down at him with pure disdain. “Take a good look at yourself, then look at me,” she continued coldly. “I am now the CEO of a multi-million-dollar company in Boston. What are you? A useless convict. How could a burden like you ever be worthy of standing beside me now?” Alex muttered, “A burden? Is that really all I am to you now? Does three years of marriage mean nothing compared to a few million dollars?” Sophia mocked him, tapping on her long, manicured nails. “Only broken fools like you cling to useless things like ‘love’ and ‘marriage '. Smart people climb higher branches. And unlike you, I’ve already found mine.” She pulled out her model smartphone, tapped the screen, and slid it aggressively across the table. On the screen of the phone was a photo of Sophia wrapped around a man in a pristine silk suit. The man was William; he looked refined, noble, and effortlessly rich. Alex caught his own reflection in the top—unkempt hair, pale skin, and the faded uniform of a prisoner beside the bright screen. “You see the difference?” Sophia leaned in. “William is a true gentleman from a top rich family. You? You’re just a disgraced rapist. Why on earth would I choose a dirty criminal over him?” “A rapist?!” Alex slammed his hands onto the table and said to her, “ You know that’s a lie! It was your brother Mark who committed that crime! Not me; I took the fall and went to prison because you cried and begged me on your knees to save your family’s name! I did it out of love for you!” he shouted at her, shaking his head to stop lying!! Sophia didn't even flinch at his outburst. Instead, a slow, cruel smile spread across her face. She whispered, and her eyes were full of mockery “Oh, Alex. You really are stupid. Do you think I was actually helpless back then? Don't you know that two years ago, I had already met William. I needed a reason to clear my family's name and dump you without looking like the bad guy to the public. Making you take the blame for my brother Mark was the perfect plan. You walked right into it like a blind fool.” She tapped the divorce paper sharply with her index finger. “Now sign it. Don't waste my time. Don't make this uglier than it needs to be.” Alex stared at her, feeling as if a knife had been driven straight into his chest and twisted. The woman he had bled for, the woman he had traded his own youth and freedom for, had been calculating his downfall from the very beginning. With a calm, trembling hand, Alex picked up the pen. He signed his name on the dotted line, pushed the paper back to her, and let out a low, cold laugh. “You’ll regret this, Sophia,” Alex said, his eyes locking onto hers with a chilling stillness. “You have no idea of what you’re throwing away today.” Sophia snatched the paper and slipped it into her bag, scoffing loudly. “Keep dreaming, Alex. People at the bottom always comfort themselves with empty threats and fantasies. Just be content with being worthless.” She stood up, smoothing down her suit jacket. “Anyway, you should thank me. Be happy you’re finally walking out of this miserable private prison today,” she added, turning toward the door. “Try not to piss off the warden on your way out—he’s known for being a ruthless monster who destroys people without blinking.” Without waiting for his answer, she turned on her high heels and walked out of the visitation room, the steel door slamming shut behind her. Alex sat in the silence for a long moment, watching the dust motes float in the pale light. He then recalled how three years ago, he was the one who had supported her struggling family all the way to becoming new money among Boston's elite. He had poured his entire savings into her family business, working night and day to build her path to success. He never expected that once she rose to power, she would kick him aside like trash. Regret it? Sophia must surely regret it. Alex thought to himself, his expression turning icy. She really has no idea of what tomorrow is turning out to be. During his two years in this notorious private facility, Alex hadn't just survived—he had been chosen. The old man in the cell next to his was the legendary former Chairman of the Southern Territory, a powerhouse who held unmatched wealth and military strength. The old man had spent two years teaching Alex deadly martial arts, business strategies, and world-class skills. He had desperately wanted to pass on his ultimate symbol of power—the Phoenix Ring. Alex had always refused the ring, purely because he only wanted to live an ordinary, peaceful life with his beloved woman in Boston after leaving Washington.Latest Chapter
CHAPTER 11
Clara said softly, “Alex,” her voice cutting through the hum of the engine. “Oh no, come on. You don't have to carry the weight of the entire territory on your shoulders tonight; it's not right.” Alex didn't look at her immediately. His mind flashed back to the dark cell, remembering the freezing nights when he coughed up blood onto straw mats, wondering if Sophia was waiting for him. The sharp, bitter memory hit him like a physical blow. Alex muttered, “I don't have a choice, Clara. If I stop moving, even for a second, the past catches up to me. When I look in the mirror, I still see the prisoner uniform. I still hear Sophia laughing in that visitation room.” Clara’s heart ached for him. She reached out, placing her hand over his fingers on the gear shift. Clara said earnestly, her eyes locking onto his. “Sophia was a parasite who mistook your kindness for weakness, but you aren't that helpless man anymore, Alex. My struggle isn't much different... Ever since my father se

Before Miller could finish his sentence, Alex moved. With a single fluid motion, he stepped past the walking stick, his hand moving like lightning. He grabbed Miller’s wrist and twisted it upward with a sharp crack. Miller shrieked in pain, his walking stick clattering onto the ground. Before Miller’s guards could even draw their hidden weapons, Alex swept his leg out, catching the front enforcer behind the knees and sending him crashing onto the floor. Alex stepped on Miller’s chest, pressing his shoe down firmly while his left hand rose into the air. The dark steel Phoenix Ring caught the bright overhead light, flashing with a sharp, terrifying glint. The entire squad of black-coated guards froze instantly. Their eyes widened in sheer disbelief as they stared at the ring on Alex’s finger. Even in the Capital, every elite warrior and underground boss knew the legend of that ring. It was the supreme symbol of absolute authority. Miller coughed beneath Alex’s foot, his fa

It is about control."Two heavy security guards in black suits stepped forward, grabbed Master Vance by his arms, and dragged him away as he begged for mercy. The entire ballroom erupted into applause and respectful bows. Alex looked down at his simple, faded clothes. He said to the driver. "No need for anything too grand. Just a clean black suit will do, and I am not going there to show off. I am going there to finish things."Two hours later, the grand entrance of the Boston City Center was packed with people. Bright flashbulbs clicked rapidly as expensive cars dropped off rich guests on the long red carpet. Reporters shouted questions, trying to get photos of the most powerful people in the city.Inside the huge golden ballroom, music played softly while waiters walked around with trays of food and expensive drinks.Near the center of the room, Sophia was standing in a shiny blue dress, holding a glass of juice. Her face looked pale, but she was trying her best to stand tall and smile.Beside her stood a tall man in his late thirties with dark hair, sharp eyes, and a cold smile. He was Master Vance—the head of the main Vance family from the West Coast, and the uncle of William and Marcus. H
CHAPTER 6
"His name is Alex! Three years ago, he was a broke nobody who worked odd jobs. Then he went to prison for rape! He is nothing but a dirty, disgraced ex-convict who probably stole that ring from an old man in jail!"A wave of loud gasps filled the room. The business leaders leaned forward, picking up the papers in shock. “Huuh”"A convict?!""Is this true?""How could a criminal hold the Phoenix Ring?!"Elder Richard’s face turned grim. He glared at Alex with pure fury. "Is this true, boy? Are you a criminal who tricked your way here?"Alex sat in his chair without moving an inch. His face remained calm; his dark eyes were on Marcus like he was watching a foolish child throw a tantrum."Your information is fast, Marcus," Alex said smoothly. "But your brain is slow. Did your brother forget to tell you why his company went bankrupt in less than ten minutes?"Marcus laughed loudly. "That was just a temporary glitch! The Vance family has deep ties with the West Coast Alliance!
