Bianca's jaw dropped in shock. She couldn't believe what had just unfolded in her presence.

It dawned on her that Dante had played her in the earlier fight.

"Apparently, he accepted defeat because he didn't want to cause a catastrophe," she muttered in her thoughts as she recalled his exact words, "I don't fight women."

His strength was far beyond hers, yet he toyed with her like a cat with a mouse, letting her make a complete fool of herself.

She tried to pull herself together by sitting up, but the room was spinning like a whirlwind, her head reeling from the impact.

She spat out a mouthful of blood-tinged saliva, her eyes burning. She had truly underestimated him.

Meanwhile, the kidnappers couldn't escape from the club upon reaching the last gate because it operates with security codes.

They had already eliminated the security personnel on duty who had helped them get in after being compromised for a thousand dollars, which they never gave him.

  • 9: The Predator Awakens

"Oh God—those are the Serpenti!"A young man near the bar clutched his friend's arm, his face white as death. "The Serpent Syndicate—the biggest criminal organization in the country! They're professional killers!"Panic rippled through the crowd like a contagion.Several people edged toward the side exits, hoping to slip away unnoticed."Where do you think you're going?"Matteo Romano stepped in front of them, blocking their path. His face was still flushed from his earlier humiliation, but now—now he saw an opportunity.A chance to be the hero. To prove himself. He turned to face the gunmen, puffing out his thin chest. "Do you have any idea who I am? I'm Matteo Romano—heir to the Romano family! My father has connections that would make your pathetic little organization disappear overnight!"The crowd held its breath."So here's what's going to happen," Matteo continued, his voice rising with false confidence. "You're going to turn around, walk out that door, and pretend this never ha

  • 8: The Arena

The VIP lounge of Elysium was all velvet seating, ambient lighting, and the kind of casual wealth that didn't need to announce itself. Young elites lounged on leather sofas, drinks in hand, discussing business deals and family politics like they were discussing the weather.Bianca sat near the center, her expression sour as she watched Dante enter the lounge."Well, well," she muttered to herself. "The stray actually made it inside."She'd been counting on him being turned away at the door—humiliated, diminished, put in his proper place. Instead, here he was, walking in like he owned the place. How the hell did he get past security? She plastered on a sharp smile and waved him over. "Dante! Over here! Let me introduce you to some of Giulia's friends."Dante approached, his expression neutral.A young man sat beside Giulia on the sofa—tall but thin, with delicate features and expensive clothes that hung on his frame like they were trying too hard. He leaned close to her, talking animat

The civil registry office was sterile and efficient—fluorescent lights, plastic chairs, bored clerks processing paperwork with mechanical precision.Dante and Giulia sat side by side in silence. Not the comfortable kind. The kind that felt like sitting next to a live explosive."Next!" the clerk called. They approached the counter together, maintaining a careful two feet of distance between them."Names?""Dante Moretti.""Giulia Santoro."The clerk typed, clicked, stamped. "Sign here. And here. Initial here."Giulia's pen pressed so hard against the paper it nearly tore through. Dante signed quickly, efficiently, like he was signing a death warrant."Congratulations," the clerk said flatly, sliding two red booklets across the counter. "You're married."They walked out into the afternoon sun, each clutching their marriage certificate like a prison sentence.Giulia stared straight ahead, her expression carved from ice. "This changes nothing.""Agreed.""We'll live separately. You'll st

  • 6: A House Divided

The grandfather stood frozen, his face cycling through shades of crimson. He hadn't expected Giulia to be so willful, so openly disrespectful in front of their honored guest."Giulia Santoro!" His voice thundered across the courtyard. "How dare you behave like this? Do you have any idea what kind of blessing has fallen upon our family? Being able to marry Young Master Moretti is an honor beyond measure, and here you are, spitting in the face of good fortune!"Giulia's jaw tightened, but she said nothing."Now go—immediately—and fetch your parents. Tell them our future grandson-in-law has arrived and that I expect them in the main hall at once!"She turned without a word and stalked toward the villa, her back rigid with fury. The grandfather turned to Dante, his expression shifting to apologetic embarrassment. "Young Master Moretti, please forgive—""It's fine," Dante said, though his smile looked more like a grimace.Fine. Everything was fine. Except he'd come here to break off an eng

  • 5: Fate's Cruel Jest

The Santoro estate rose behind wrought-iron gates like a monument to old money and older pride. Manicured gardens, marble fountains, a villa that belonged in Renaissance paintings rather than modern Italy.Dante stood outside those gates, hands shoved deep in his pockets, while Lorenzo hovered anxiously beside the car."Young Master, please reconsider. Let me come with you," Lorenzo pleaded. "The Santoro family is expecting Master Armani's disciple. You need someone to—""No." Dante cut him off. "I'm here to break off an engagement, not propose marriage. The fewer witnesses to this disaster, the better.""But Young Master, the Santoro daughters are what half the men in this city dream of! Beautiful, accomplished, from excellent bloodlines—""Lorenzo.""And Master Armani always said you should settle down before building your career! At least have someone to take care of your daily life, manage your household—""Lorenzo."The older man sighed, defeated. "As you wish, Young Master. I'll
