WISH TO BE RICH

It was a normal afternoon at Primrose High school and a student just burst into class 6-A, waving the screen of his phone in front of everyone and yelling…

"The admission letters have been sent and I got into Wellstone College, what about you guys?!"

Angered by the interruption, the teacher turned around and yelled "Hey, don't you see that I'm teaching right—"

However, the other students didn't allow the teacher to finish as they all rushed to grab their phones and started checking their emails, hopeful for good news.

"I got in! I got into High Rise University!" yelled a student, standing on his desk and pumping his fists into the air.

"I got into Stellar Prep Academy!"

"Hurry and check yours too, what college did you get into?!"

All the students yelled at the top of their lungs and after they all finished celebrating, they looked at an empty desk in the center of the classroom.

Immediately, their faces grimaced with disgust.

"What about that loser Johnathan Cross? Who knows where he is right now?"

They all insulted Jonathan Cross, the only student whose desk and chair didn't look as fancy or neat as the rest of theirs but what could Johnathan be up to right now?

"Mr. Jonathan, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you only have three months left to live!" the doctor said to Jonathan and his heart leaped straight out of his chest.

Jonathan sat across the doctor, cheeks sunken, neck veiny, eyes almost bulging out their sockets, skin as dry as a piece of cracker, and uniform extremely overused.

Johnathan was an 18-year-old senior at Primrose High-school. He stood tall at 189cm and is fairly handsome, unfortunately, his height and handsome face were covered by the nature of his poverty.

As an orphan whose adoptive parents only use him to collect money from the state, Johnathan has had to look out for himself and take himself through high school by working multiple part-time jobs before and after each school day.

"Huh?!" Johnathan gulped in shock "What are you talking about doctor? Three months to live? How?!" Jonathan inquired, looking like he was about to cry.

Immediately, Jonathan became weak and almost fell off his chair but he managed to catch himself.

"Be careful Mr. Jonathan, you don't want to make your condition worse than it already is, do you?" the doctor said then brought out an X-ray image of Jonathan's chest from his desk locker.

Jonathan started to panic and sweat profusely in fear of what was to come.

The doctor said "We found signs of malnutrition, high blood pressure, sleep deprivation, and a sugar deficiency in your blood but then there was also this we ended up finding"

The doctor circled where Johnathan's heart is supposed to be in the X-ray.

"This right here are the signs of late coronary heart disease," the doctor said before he dropped the X-ray image on top of the desk.

With a petrified face, Jonathan leaned closer to the doctor and spat out "Isn't there something you can do about this?! Three months to live?! I can't die like this, I'm still too young and there's so much I haven't done yet. Please, doctor, I'm begging you to help save my life!"

The doctor netted his fingers, curled his lips, and sighed "If only you had come earlier, we could have found your disease sooner and put you on treatment with high chances of saving your life. Unfortunately, you're too late now and there's nothing we can do to help you, sorry" the doctor shook his head in pity.

The inevitability of his condition finally set in and looking grim like he was already at death's door, Johnathan fell his body on his chair.

The doctor looked at Jonathan with a sad gaze and asked "Your file says you're a high-school senior so you should be going to college soon, right?"

Jonathan sniffled and answered dejectedly "Yes sir, I am. I applied for Wellstone College"

The doctor shook his head in disappointment and said "Sorry to hear that Mr. Johnathan. You seem like a young man with a good future ahead of you, if only this disease wasn't standing in your way"

Johnathan gritted his teeth, trying to stop himself from crying.

"Well, I would have advised getting a second checkup done to get rid of any doubt you have about your condition. However, I doubt you have the money for that either. Regardless, I wish you good luck Mr. Jonathan" the doctor extended a hand and shook Jonathan goodbye.

Jonathan left the doctor's office with the medication he was prescribed and deflated shoulders.

He was feeling weak and tired but strangely also relieved that he finally knows why he's been feeling terrible for so long now.

"Three months to live, can my life get any worse?" Jonathan asked himself as he went outside the hospital building but then his phone chimed in his pocket from an email he just received.

Jonathan quickly brought out his phone to check what the email was about. It was his admission letter from Wellstone college and he hurriedly opened it, hoping to get some good news at least.

At first, the email started nicely with the college telling him about his acceptance but then it took a negative turn when they told him that his request for a scholarship was rejected. If he was to come to school, he would have to fund himself completely.

He obviously had no money to do that as all the money he's saved during his part-time work wouldn't be enough for one semester's tuition. Wellstone is a very expensive college.

The message got more heartbreaking when he checked the reason he didn't qualify for the scholarship and it was because his extracurricular classes weren't enough but the reason he skipped extracurricular classes was so he could work his part-time jobs.

Finding this out almost made his already weak heart give out.

Johnathan sat halfway down the stairs and broke down in tears.

He couldn't believe that his life was going to end like this. Poor since the day he was born, ridiculed and insulted by his rich classmates and juniors, and not able to afford to go to his dream college.

Now it was all over for him and it is going to be in the most painful way possible, a heart disease.

"Why was I even born into this world if it was to suffer till the day I die? Why God?!" Jonathan asked the heavens as he cried in a very weak voice.

After a couple of minutes of groveling in self-pity, Jonathan cleaned himself and got up, clenching his fists after having made a new life's resolution

He said with a serious look in his eyes "There's no need to work and save money when I'm going to die anyway. I rather spend everything I've ever saved on me and Molly before I die"

Molly Haygreen has been Johnathan's girlfriend ever since he got into Primrose as a junior. With her being the only source of joy he had in this miserable life of his, he managed to retain an ounce of hope.

Johnathan rushed back to school to tell her the news of his heart's condition, also to ask her if she got accepted into Wellstone college then splurge on her with all his savings to celebrate.

The minute he returned he went straight to her class.

There was a teacher in her class when he went there so he couldn't go in but looking through the window he saw that her desk was empty and so was that of a few of her classmates.

"Maybe she's at her hostel," Johnathan thought then went to find her in her hostel.

He was outside her room and was about to knock on the door when from outside he could hear strange moaning sounds coming from the room.

"What's going on?" Jonathan asked himself, thinking that something must be happening inside to create all that noise but suddenly he heard a loud moan in Molly's voice.

"… stop, please!" Molly exclaimed and groaned through the door

"Molly?!" Johnathan exclaimed thinking that she must be hurt.

With the little strength his dying body could muster, he busted the door open.

"Molly, are you okay?! You're not hurt right—" Jonathan panicked and searched the room for her but all of a sudden his words stuck in his throat.

What he had in front of him made Jonathan's jaw drop and his knees became so weak that he fell to the floor in despair.

He saw Molly and a bunch of people having an orgy and the person currently with his girlfriend, the love of his life was none other than his only friend in school, Bradly Silver.
