Chapter 61: Lightning and Blood

The lightning bolt carved a trench in the stone where Beelze and Lisa had been standing a heartbeat before. They'd dodged left, taking cover behind what had once been a vending machine but was now a Roman pillar.

"New artifact?" Beelze called out to Biho. "Depay must be desperate if he's giving you the good stuff."

"Shut up!" Biho snarled, launching another bolt. "I'm going to enjoy watching you burn!"

The lightning struck the pillar, sending chunks of stone flying. Beelze's spy system analyzed the weapon quickly.

"He can fly now. That's just perfect," Lisa muttered.

Beelze activated the Egyptian Knife, its green flames providing a barrier against the electrical attacks. "I'll handle Biho. You get to the colosseum."

"Are you insane? I'm not leaving you!"

"You have to. Someone needs to reach the

Chapter 60: Gathering Storm Two weeks passed without incident. No attacks, no threats, no sign of Depay beyond the occasional surveillance that Beelze's spy system detected and avoided. It was almost peaceful. Which meant something was about to go very wrong. Beelze sat in the Seoul safe house, surrounded by reports and intelligence Lisa had gathered. The Oh Seung Woo group had become his de facto assistants, helping organize information while tending to the Herb of Eternal Youth, which had already sprouted two more fruits. "This doesn't make sense," Oh Seung Woo said, looking at financial records. "Depay's been liquidating assets. Selling properties, cashing out investments. It's like he's preparing for something big." "He is," Beelze replied. "The Great Crypt Appearance. When artifacts become public, their value will skyrocket. He's converting everything to liquid capital so he can buy up artifacts immediately." "Smart." "Depressingly so." Lisa entered with coffee and more b

Chapter 59: Aftermath The safe house Lisa had arranged was a modest apartment in Seoul's Gangnam district—deliberately unremarkable, the kind of place no one would look twice at. Perfect for laying low. Beelze sat on the couch, his shoulder freshly bandaged by a private doctor Lisa had summoned. The Oh Seung Woo group occupied the other furniture, eating convenience store food like they'd been starving for days. "I can't believe we survived that," one of Oh Seung Woo's companions said through a mouthful of instant ramen. "I thought we were dead for sure." "We would have been if Beelze hadn't come," Oh Seung Woo said, looking at him with something approaching respect. "Thank you. Really." Beelze waved it off. "You were targeted because of me. It's the least I could do." "Still. Most people would have cut their losses." Oh Seung Woo set down his food. "We're with you now. Whatever you need, wherever this goes, we're in." "Even if it means more situations like tonight?" "Especial

Chapter 58: Into the Trap The facility loomed ahead, a collection of rusted metal buildings connected by corroded walkways. Floodlights illuminated the main entrance, casting harsh shadows that made the place look more like a prison than an abandoned factory. Beelze walked forward slowly, hands visible, artifacts deliberately inactive. He needed Depay to think he'd surrendered. Two figures emerged from the shadows—mercenaries with assault rifles trained on him. Behind them, more shapes moved in the darkness. Beelze counted at least fifteen hostiles just at the entrance. "Stop right there," one of the mercenaries commanded. "Arms up." Beelze complied, raising his hands slowly. The motion sent pain shooting through his broken shoulder, but he kept his expression neutral. They patted him down, finding his artifacts immediately. The Egyptian Knife, the Eternal Rope bracelet, Marie Antoinette's Necklace, the Code of Hammurabi slate. "What do we do with these?" one mercenary asked in

Chapter 57: Assembling Allies Lisa's voice came through crisp and clear despite the jet noise. "What kind of favor?" "I need artifact users. Experienced ones. People who can fight and won't ask too many questions." "That's a tall order. My family's collection is extensive, but most of our artifact users are academics or collectors, not fighters." "Then I need mercenaries. Former military, private contractors—anyone with combat experience who won't balk at the supernatural." There was a pause. "Beelze, what exactly are you planning?" "Depay wants me to walk into his trap alone. So I'm going to do exactly that." He could hear her sharp intake of breath. "But I'll have backup positioned around the perimeter. When things go south—and they will—I'll have reinforcements." "That's insane." "That's Tuesday." Lisa sighed. "I can make some calls. The Holten family has connections with several private military companies. But this won't be cheap, and my father will want to know why." "T
