The Mayor slammed his palm down on the polished table with a loud bang! Even the officials on either side of him straightened slightly, but his eyes were focused on a single person.

He spoke in a voice saturated with irritation as he addressed the man who had been gaining the attention of everyone in that room, with his dramatics.

“Is there anything else you have to say, Mr. Kenneth?”

For a brief moment, Kenneth flinched. The tone was rude, like someone was scolding him. And he was definitely nor used to hearing such harsh, grating noises.

But to his credit, he quickly recovered, convincing himself that despite the tone, at least the Mayor’s words were still technically respectful. So, choosing to play it safe, he put on his most diplomatic voice.

“As far as this topic is concerned, I do have a lot more to say, sir. But I can’t help wondering, why are we wasting our time discussing this loser at all?”

He waved a dismissive hand toward Julius, happy to push him into the pit if he cou

Julius adjusted the cuff of his sleeve and turned to the crowd, voice carrying with effortless command. “Thank you, everyone! Drinks are on me for all day today.” He announced, nodding toward the bar. Cheers erupted, followed by clapping, laughter, and glasses raised in celebration. People clinked their cocktails, already turning away from the drama and excited to try free top-shelf mojitos and imported champagne. Cassie, Natalie, and Morgan stood frozen in place, red-faced, humiliated, and now trapped in a corner. The remaining crowd had tightened like a velvet rope around them, murmuring and gawking at their audacity. The girls couldn’t move without bumping into someone’s phone camera or whispered judgment. Cassie glanced around, trying to find an escape route, but no route existed for her, without drawing more attention. Julius, cool as ice, looked to the hotel manager. “Empty out their rooms…” He said simply. “Leave them and their luggage at the front gate.” The manager

Cassie stepped towards Julius with a sultry sway of her hips, her fingers reaching out toward his chest. “I mean, if you ever get bored of the local flavor…” She purred, letting her palm brush arise the fabric of his shirt, and land on his smooth, toned chest. “I know a few… international dishes worth sampling.”Before her fingers could settle against his sun-warned skin, Julius grabbed her wrist and pulled it back. He wasn't harsh, but the gesture was firm enough to snap the illusion of her seduction. He spoke in a deadpan voice, like he was completely bored by her presence and approach. “Actually… I own the place. But please, finish your TED Talk on humility of new mindy, first.”Cassie stared at him for a moment, not expecting this at all. Her mouth parted in disbelief as he let go of her wrist, which fell to her side like dead weight. One of her friends immediately burst into laughter, a sudden, unexpected snort. “Oh, my god—Cassie turned sharply, her eyes blazing. “Chelsea.

  • Old friend?

The sound of waves lapping against the sand was peaceful, interrupted only occasionally by the clink of ice in a glass, or the voices of people talking in low volumes, or influencers recording the scenario. Miley was sitting under the shade of a white-draped cabana, her feet curled up on the lounge, trying her best to act like it was a normal morning. Like she hadn't been swept clean off her feet by Julius, when he had casually dismantled the resort’s management structure for her sake. She sipped her coconut smoothie slowly, eyes darting toward him over the rim of her glass. He sat beside her, his broad shoulders in full display for her entertainment while he was reading a newspaper– and yes, an actual physical copy. His linen shirt was neatly ironed, the only touch that hinted to the vacation’s casual vibe were his sunglasses, perched on his nose and reflecting the sea. Hs leg brushed against hers, and all Miley could think was that he was insane… Handsome, yes, but absolutely in

Miley blinked blearily at the morning light seeping through gauzy curtains. The sea’s hush and the occasional gull’s cry lent the villa an almost meditative quiet. She rolled onto her side, eyes landing on the empty space beside her in bed.Only to find that Julius was gone. She got up with a jerk, panicking for a second before she remembered what she had said last night, in a half-joking, half-drowsy mood. “If you really love me… you’ll get me waffles tomorrow morning. With caramel, and the crunchy pearls.”She chuckled into the pillow, thinking that he better be bringing those pearls right now. In reality, there was complete silence on their floor. She slipped into his oversized shirt and walked to the balcony, brushing the wind- blown hair out of her eyes. The horizon was glimmering, as if someone had melted beautiful sapphires and poured it over the skyline… it was just the perfect morning for waffles.__________“Get your general manager. Or better yet, get your legal team.”

  • A Break in the Sky

The car ride back to the villa was quiet, but it wasn't the heavy kind of silence that used to sit between them before… when Miley was drowning in grief and Julius didn’t know how to pull her out. It felt different, like the world had finally taken its foot off their necks.Outside the window, the clouds slowly parted, and ans they drove out of the city, Julius exhaled for what felt like the first time in days.No matter what, at least Miley was still holding his hand, and that was all that mattered. He looked over at her, whose lashes were cast low as if she were thinking hard. Her other hand was curled in her lap, thumb brushing over a bandage, and he didn't mention anything. Rather, he just tightened his grip slightly.“We’re leaving.”He said with a note of finality.Miley turned her head. “What?”“Pack whatever you want…”Julius said, without taking his eyes off the road. “Or nothing at all, I’ll buy you everything you need. Clothes, shoes, six different brands of sunscreen, w

  • Severing the Ties

Julius sat beside Miley, the heavy curtains drawn, creating a cosy atmosphere where the two of them were lost in the heat resting between them: quiet, restrained, but unmistakably fierce. He spoke slowly, his voice even. “The traces in your blood… the destabilizers… it was all due to Laura. She sent some flowers to you through a new maid, they were laced with something, and so was the tea.”Miley sat still, the robe cinched tightly around her waist, her fingers laced in her lap. Her chin lifted slightly, but she didn't show any other emotion. “How long have you known?” She asked and Julius inhaled sharply. “Well, I have suspected for a while now… but all of it was only confirmed after Geoffrey talked.”“And you waited… even after promising me?”“I wanted everything airtight,” he said. “If we moved too early, she would have buried it. She’s not reckless, she is practiced at this, Miles.”Miley looked away, her eyes glassy but dry.“She drugged me, Julius. She knew exactly what los
