“ It's you,” I said, surprised to see Jill standing at my front door.

“Yes it's me,” she replied, switching her Birkin B25 from hand to hand. She was wearing the same outfit from earlier.

I knew what type of bag it was because Cassidy had the same bag.

“This might sound cliche, but I was just thinking about you,” I spoke.

She went poker-faced before she opened her mouth.

“Are you just going to keep me standing at the door or invite me in?” she asked.

“I'm sorry about that come in,” I opened the door wider for her to enter.

She took a look around before her eyes settled on the bar stool and she approached the kitchen and took a seat.

I don't know if it'd be rude to ask her what she was doing here, how did she even know where I lived?

I found her house address in a day, maybe she did the same. I closed the door and followed her to the kitchen.

There was an awkward silence for a few minutes before I spoke.

“Would you like a drink or a glass of water?” I asked.

Jill's POV I stared at the folder on my table, I had read it countless times now.Manuel was an accessory to murder, he was in a gang before this. Oh my God, the prosecution was going to have a field day with this.I crossed my arms.I texted Manuel to meet me at my office later today. I needed to see his reaction when I bluntly asked him about this. The court was in a few weeks, how was I doing to spin this when Manuel has a criminal past?In as much as Cassidy's husband has no alibi and other people wanted her dead; an ex-business associate threatened her in broad daylight. I needed to find a way to use that.“Sarah,” I calledShe rushed in, a cup of coffee in hand, my usual order.“Ugh, I needed this, you're a lifesaver” I praised her, it was like she knew right before I needed something when I needed it.“Please can you get me the head of homicide on the phone “ I instructed.“Of course ma’am, right away” I needed him to tell me how far with finding Cassidy's stalker and her ex

Manuel's POV I've checked my phone repeatedly for the past few days, but still nothing.Nothing from Jill, nothing from Jeanine. My phone pinged and I rushed over to it. It was from the psychiatrist, reminding me of my remaining two appointments.I didn't know when I headed into the showers, got ready, and made my way to his office for my appointment. His receptionist gave me the go-ahead to enter and I did. Dr Damien was seated in his usual spot, notebook in hand, no hideous shoes in sight.“Hello, Manuel, please be seated,” he said, gesturing to the seat.I took a seat, leaning back on the sofa to relax.“How are you doing today?” He asked.“Could be worse,” I shrugged.“Okay let's dive right in, shall we?” He opened his notebook and wrote a few things down.“So at our last appointment, we stopped at you talking about Nick, your pimp” “Yeah, what about him?” I sighed and started.Well, Nick wasn't just my pimp he was my boss, he wasn't like a father figure to me or anything, no

Daniel woke up the next morning with a splitting headache. It was not a surprise to him, he was used to the pain, and he'd rather have physical pain.It was better than the emotional pain that was eating him up inside. He'd been drinking to stupor ever since Cassidy's death. His housemaid always dropped two pills of aspirin and a glass of water for him every morning.Aside from the fact he reached for his pills and didn't see, his attention was turned to the brown-haired lady beside him.“No,” he whispered, his voice croaked. He looked under the blanket and was mortified to see he was nude, and so was the lady.He swung his legs over the side and planted his feet firmly on the ground. He was surprised to see a used condom on the floor. To make matters worse, the condom was filled with the unmistakable evidence of their intimacy.“Oh my God, what have I done! “ He said, his voice shaky, quiet. He picked up his underwear from the floor and disposed of the condom.Going to the other side

Jeanine sat there and nursed her one glass of whiskey while Daniel had four more. She got him talking about anything and everything, his job, his money, and upcoming events. Anything to keep the conversation flowing They talked about everything except Cassidy, she knew better than to say anything so Daniel wouldn't lock up. They talked until he was slurring his words, laughing excessively, and talking loudly. He was drunk. She excused herself and refreshed her scent with the black opium perfume she had in her purse and entered back into the room.Daniel was immediately hit with the sweet scent of her perfume as she entered his man cave.“Cassidy?” he called out staggering to meet her at the door. Before she could say anything, he embraced her in a tight hug, smoothing her hair.“I've missed you so much.” he cried, tightening her in his embrace.Jeanine rolled her eyes and tolerated the tight hug, hiding her discomfort.“Let's get you bed, my love,” she said holding him upright. She

Jill's POV It'd been two days since someone was in my home, and the preparator left a gift behind; a box.I looked at the brown box that I found in my kitchen on the table. I hadn't opened it yet, I didn't touch it.It just sat there gathering dust. After I heard a noise that night I checked around I didn't see anyone. So I installed a security system in my house with cameras and all.Not even a fly would come in without my knowledge, I was paranoid.I hadn't gone to work since the incident occurred, I felt a sense of dread like something bad was going happen to me.If I was sleeping when the person came in, I wonder what would have happened to me.Would it have been a repeat of the last time?Pushing the crippling thought from my head I got ready for work. Manuel's POVI walked up to the familiar doorstep and softly knocked, there was no answer. Twisting the doorknob gently, the door opened. I stepped through the door, into the foyer, and made my way to the living room.“Why was the door open?” I whispered I saw her lounging on the sofa, watching a movie. She seemed to sense my presence, pausing the movie she glanced back. Her lips curled into a cunning smile, she got to her feet and strutted towards me.She was wearing black leggings and a red tank top. Her breast strained against the tight red fabric, leaving little to the imagination.“Manuel, it's so good to see you” she purred, kissing my cheek. “You know why I'm here Jeannie, cut the bullshit,” I spoke, my tone tinged with annoyance. She stepped back and glared at me.“If you're not going to be nice, get the fuck out,” she said, annoyed and pointed towards the door.“ I'm sorry, please don't throw me out just yet, hear me out ” I pleaded. As much as I hated this woman, she was

It's been two weeks since I left Manuel standing at the door of my office and he'd been calling me every day since then. All of his text messages went unanswered, and his calls were unreturned, but that didn't stop him. He still called every day. This was a power play on my end and he was beginning to realize but I didn't care. It was too late in the game to change lawyers. The trial was in a few weeks. After my little tantrum at the police station, the cops were finally doing what they were supposed to do; their job. And the investigation was a fruitful one indeed.A few days ago Sanders called me and offered me a plea and I knew I had him hook, line, and sinker. I was making him sweat, and that was what I wanted.I hadn't opened the folder Rambo gave me the other day, I've been so busy and occupied with the other cases. Jury selection was in a few hours for Manuel's case. I needed jurors that would be able to relate to Manuel's case. Not the murder case, but the discrimination one
