Cough, cough!

Cale lay on the floor of the testing room coughing sporadically after being electrocuted. It was a painful experience but one that Cale found was actually quite bearable. But Cale was in too much pain to think about it so he instead decided to focus on something else to manage the pain.

It was quiet for a minute or two by which time the pain had already subsided yet nobody had said anything to him yet. As the silence continued, Cale began to wonder if something wrong had happened with the others. Unfortunately, the crackle of the speaker turning on came soon after dashing whatever thought had been in Cale’s mind away.

Candor’s voice sounded through the speakers and spoke to him in what Cale identified as a gloating tone in her voice.

In response to Candor’s question, Cale said, “You’re sick lady, whoever you are, just like the last one… both sick in the head. I wonder where you all get off from electrocuting a poor harmless soul like me. As for if that just made

Immediately, the guard attacked, and Cale’s group quickly moved, following up with a devastating attack of their own.The other four guards pulled out their rifles and fired at the guards closest to them, taking them down immediately, while the researchers, each holding a small device, quickly threw it into the crowd, which immediately expanded into humanoid robots that swiftly attacked the remaining guards, following their preset commands. These robots were Selene’s A.G.R.C.W.’s, whose numbers had increased after her scrap with Cale before. Now there was a host of them—enough to handle a lot of opponents at the same time. But they still weren’t enough to deal with all the guards that Krasin brought along with him.Just then, a stretch of darkness appeared in the area, expanding rapidly into a giant rift in space from which Cale swiftly jumped out, appearing in the midst of everything. As soon as Cale appeared, he didn’t waste any time and swiftly threw the two guards closest to him,

Krasin observed from far away as the guards on his side confirmed the identities of the others. Even now, he remained vigilant and didn’t make any extraneous moves until he saw that the confirmation was over and the others were allowed to come closer. Only then did Krasin finally relax and walk forward to rejoin the group. When Krasin reached them, his eyes swept over the guards and researchers in search of a particular face. But when he did not see the person he was looking for, Krasin quickly interrupted the discussion between the two guard leaders and asked an urgent question.“Where is he?”“Who?” The guard Krasin spoke to turned to look at him and asked in confusion.“The subject,” Krasin specified.“Where is the subject you were supposed to neutralize and capture? I can also see that there are fewer of you around, so where are the others?”“Oh, you mean the assignment…” the other guard realized before answering with a smile.“Don’t worry, we managed to capture him and get him un

The lighting was down in this area of the laboratory, leaving the dim emergency lights as the only source of illumination, allowing anyone to see. Krasin made a note to also add an estimation for the repairs that needed to be done in the laboratory once all of this was over. For now, he was more concerned with who would be appearing before them in this darkness. The figure in the darkness drew closer, and at a certain point, they were close enough for Krasin and the guards to realize that there wasn’t only one person coming toward them but a whole group of them, the sounds of their footsteps ringing chaotically in the dim lighting.Immediately, before the figures could draw any closer, a guard in the lead quickly raised his voice and shouted at them from afar.“All of you, halt where you are and identify yourselves. You have two seconds to respond, or you will be treated as hostile and swiftly dealt with.”Hearing the voice of the lead guard, the people coming toward them quickly stop

Jokes aside, Selene quickly explained to Cale how she managed to take down the surveillance of the entire laboratory.“A few days ago, I got my hands on a military-grade virus that infects all surveillance devices and programs connected to the same channel, granting me backdoor access to control it. With this control, I can do virtually anything I want, like disable the entire network across the whole laboratory. That is why we are here right now.”After understanding everything, Cale smiled joyfully and, surprisingly, grabbed Selene into a tight hug.“Good, good, good!”“This is so good that I could kiss you right now.” Cale hugged Selene for a brief moment before finally letting go after realizing what he had done, which caused him to feel slightly awkward. He quickly calmed his emotions and then continued speaking like nothing had happened.“So, what should we do? How are we going to lure this old fish you mentioned?”Unbothered by Cale’s earlier action, Selene smiled and then said

When Cale stepped out of the monitoring room, he was accompanied this time by eight additional people, at the lead of whom were Axle and Candor, who had regained consciousness after Cale converted her.Seeing his numbers increase in size, Cale felt himself burgeoning with confidence and power. Naturally, his strength had increased, and although no new abilities were uncovered, Cale’s control over his few abilities had increased considerably. The sensing range of his spatial perception had increased, and he could now glean more deeply into the intricacies of spatial structures and their composition, allowing his spatial powers to become much stronger. But not only that, with the addition of these new eight faithfuls, the number of converts that Cale had under control had become twenty, and with that number, Cale finally began to notice a qualitative difference in his physiology.Cale felt his body getting stronger as it filled with raw physical power that made him feel like he could ax

  • Subjugation 1

Cale walked over to the subjugated researcher and looked at him. His eyes were blank, staring off into space in the position where Cale had just been, as if he was still looking into his eyes. The rest of his body was rigid, and his muscles were stiff as if he were actually paralyzed on the ground.“Leave him,” Cale said to the guard holding the researcher, and when he did, Cale observed the researcher to see if there would be any reaction. There was nothing… even after Cale stopped using Subjugation and his eyes went back to normal, the researcher remained still in the same position, his mind completely broken by the ability.Seeing all this, Cale was pleased with the new ability he had gained. With it, getting stronger became much easier for Cale, and the stronger he got, the more powerful the effect of Subjugation would be. The thought of that alone made Cale eager to see what other surprises he would uncover as he continued to convert more people into his faithful. So far, all the
