“Now that we’re alone we can now talk?” Krasin began speaking by saying that.

Amused, Cale asked, “Is there a reason why we have to be alone to discuss this?”

Krasin replied, “Actually, there's no reason at all. I just felt it would do you some good if you heard this from me with no one else around. I wouldn’t want to overwhelm you.”

Hearing this, Cale remained silent, waiting for Krasin to speak.

No longer keeping Cale in suspense, Krasin said, “The about your capture… You are very sick, that is why you are being held here against your will.”

Cale frowned when he heard this, not expecting Krasin to say something like this at all.

“Sick… what do you mean?”

“Yes, sick. You are heavily ill but not just that you are actually the source of a new unknown mana sickness.”

The more Krasin spoke the more Cale frowned, wanting to say something. But Krasin stopped him from speaking.

“Hold on and be patient let me explain,” Krasin said and continued when Cale calmed down.

  • The Fortress

There were six victims that morning, six bodies fished out from the deserted alley meaning six briefcases. Hold a briefcase in his hand with the contraband still inside, Conrad made his way to the intercity of the fortress. Cerule had only one continent called Bo’karr the size of which was almost infinitely measurable. Different species and races of creatures occupy this continent, taking up habitat in both sea and land—above ground or underground. But generally, various races and species of creatures were found in particular regions of the continent. Ceruleans majorly occupy the sound of the continent their population scattered across the vast mountain regions and plains serving as a barrier between them and the rest of the realm and on which they built fortresses to serve both as protection and a battlefront against their enemies. There are numerous fortresses, each a part of a sprawling megalopolis that covers the entire south of the continent which the ceruleans have made th

  • Dreadful Hope

Karla and Bolin watched with heavy hearts as officer Conrad made his way over to them. A sense of ominous foreboding coming over them causing their hearts to hook on their throats. Especially for Karla who felt like a patient would when meeting a doctor just after taking a cancer test. That feeling of lingering hope within the despair that was a mix of optimism and pessimism created a cocktail of heightened emotions inside her that almost caused her to swoon in dizziness. If not for Bolin’s hands that were firmly keeping her in place, Karla didn’t know how she would’ve remained standing till now. Eventually, Officer Conrad finally arrived in front of the duo, nodding at them while extending a hand in greeting for the two of them. “Good to see you again, Miss Shrutte, Mr Duran. Pardon me for meeting you two in these unfortunate circumstances.” Conrad shook hands with Karla and Bolin, noticing how weak Karla’s grip was—which indicated her worry—and Bolin’s firm grasp that carr

  • Rogues And Underground Organizations

Conrad answered the previous question from the short jacket officer. “Don’t have many options but to start from the top. Trace the victims back to where they came from and hope that I’ll find something that links them to the previous attacks. Thankfully theres a solid lead here to follow unlike with the previous attacks.” Speaking of leads, the short jacket shifted his gaze to the side where a different set of items was being carried out of the alley. “Yeah, it’s a good thing too. We’ve finally caught a break in the case with this new lead,” the short jacket said.Glancing over at what the short jacket officer was looking at, Conrad scoffed with mild displeasure.“Humph! Bunch of Volt peddling scum. I don’t know what is worse, the fact that I have to worry about a possible rouge lurking around in the area or that I have to seek justice for scum like this.”Conrad’s words were vitriolic and dripping with disdain for the victims, showing a clear reluctance to take up this case not on

  • The Security Bureau 2

Strength as a criteria for judging awakened individuals was had to determine. There was no set standard metric for measuring the strength of an awakened individual therefore who was more powerful than another could usually only be seen during direct combat and this—determining strength—was important because conflict and competition was predominant in Cerule. In the end, how to become a long coat instead of a short jacket was simple… defeat your opponent to scale the ranks which was easier said than done. There was even less to say about becoming a deputy or chief of security as only the strongest and most trusted few could gain the opportunity to ascend these ranks. And so, without the right opportunity and luck, saying it was impossible to advance in the security bureau was not very far from h to w truth. Conrad Wimble was luckier than most, but most especially he was powerful, possessing the strength to become a long coat officer of the security bureau. Having made it this f

  • The Security Bureau 1

The security bureau operated a kind of internal caste system where the roles of each caste member are clearly defined and their status is nigh unchallengeable. Think strict military hierarchy but for prison inmates. At the very top was the head honcho—the chief of security who ran everything in the bureau and answered only to the warden, i.e, the fortress administrator. Below the chief of security were his various deputies scattered across every district bureau stationed all over the fortress. These were the ones that relayed the chief’s orders, ensuring every task is handled promptly and order is maintained within their jurisdiction. Below the deputies were the long-coat cavaliers. Wielding significant power and autonomy within the security bureau, they only answered to the chief of security with the deputies only serving as mediums to relay the chief’s orders down to them. The deputies themselves had little control over the long coats as the latter had enough autonomy to choose

  • The Security Bureau

Karla and Bolin pushed through the crowd to get to the front where they saw an electronic cordon set up outside the entrance to an alleyway blocking entry into the alley. Outside the cordoned off area, a group of people wearing bright crimson short blazers with hot black pants stood guard with stern expressions on their faces, their eyes blazing as they stared down at the crowd with fierce intensity. Their presence was intimidating not just because of their unfriendly demeanor or the uniforms they wore but more so because of the burning crossed fists badge that was pasted quite glaringly on their bodies. A pair of burning fists crossed together as if locked in combat… that was the symbol of the security bureau. Seeing the security bureau people handling some business here meant that something serious must have happened. There were about five security officers alone helping to maintain order around the area, a considerable number when you thought about how capable each security off
