“I didn’t do anything!” Cale quickly denied his involvement in the situation.

“I didn’t expect something like this to happen either. I’m as surprised as you are,” he further elaborated.

Confused, Selene pondered, “So what is going on here? Where are we, anyway?”

Cale didn’t have an answer for this, so he simply shook his head and responded, “You’re the researcher, so you tell me what you think. As for where we are, I can answer that for you.”

And so Cale began explaining everything he knew about this other world to Selene, including how it was connected to him and any other discoveries he had made regarding it so far.

There wasn’t much time, but Cale wasn’t in a hurry as he spoke clearly to make sure Selene understood what he was saying. Finally, after Cale was done, Selene looked around at her surroundings and marveled with incredulity.

“Unimaginable! To think that such a world that’s teeming with infinite amounts of mana actually exists…” Then, looking at Cale, she continued, “…and

In that moment, Cale’s mind went back to the memory of the day when all this started—blessing day—when he had awakened. In particular, Cale remembered the graceful and agile youths who scaled up and down walls like reptiles and vaulted across roofs and the tops of buildings in defiance of gravity, like it wasn’t a thing at all.Back then, Cale had been jealous of such youths, wishing for a day when he would be like them, soaring over the skies, not through flight but through the movement of his own body. And now, that day had finally arrived. Cale, having overcome the congenital weakness of his heart and body, could finally laugh out loud at the world for his first act of defiance against fate. While Cale reveled in his newly enhanced physical prowess, the battle continued uninterrupted as the throwing stars that Cale dodged made a swift turn in the air before heading in a beeline for Cale’s exposed back.Yet Cale’s attention remained fully focused on the battle, and without thinking,

A massive airwave blasted through the enclosed space of the corridor, sending everything in a ten-meter radius around the center flying forcefully away.Bang!Crunch! The ugly sounds of bodies slamming into the walls and bones breaking rang out against a cacophony of guttural wails and screaming that gave voice to the pain everybody was feeling. But due to this, the spell of dizziness hanging over the heads of Krasin’s guards was broken.Immediately, the guards, ignoring their pain, swiftly stood up again and went on the offensive, launching a desperate counterattack at their ambushers.Amidst all this, Krasin had been knocked senseless after slamming into the wall behind him. He was lucky because a few guards behind him had absorbed most of the impact when he slammed into them before hitting the wall. Still, he couldn’t recover in time, and his eyes continued to swim with double vision from the hit.Just as Krasin’s vision was recovering and his mind was clear enough to begin thinkin

Immediately, the guard attacked, and Cale’s group quickly moved, following up with a devastating attack of their own.The other four guards pulled out their rifles and fired at the guards closest to them, taking them down immediately, while the researchers, each holding a small device, quickly threw it into the crowd, which immediately expanded into humanoid robots that swiftly attacked the remaining guards, following their preset commands. These robots were Selene’s A.G.R.C.W.’s, whose numbers had increased after her scrap with Cale before. Now there was a host of them—enough to handle a lot of opponents at the same time. But they still weren’t enough to deal with all the guards that Krasin brought along with him.Just then, a stretch of darkness appeared in the area, expanding rapidly into a giant rift in space from which Cale swiftly jumped out, appearing in the midst of everything. As soon as Cale appeared, he didn’t waste any time and swiftly threw the two guards closest to him,

  • Confrontation 2

Krasin observed from far away as the guards on his side confirmed the identities of the others. Even now, he remained vigilant and didn’t make any extraneous moves until he saw that the confirmation was over and the others were allowed to come closer. Only then did Krasin finally relax and walk forward to rejoin the group. When Krasin reached them, his eyes swept over the guards and researchers in search of a particular face. But when he did not see the person he was looking for, Krasin quickly interrupted the discussion between the two guard leaders and asked an urgent question.“Where is he?”“Who?” The guard Krasin spoke to turned to look at him and asked in confusion.“The subject,” Krasin specified.“Where is the subject you were supposed to neutralize and capture? I can also see that there are fewer of you around, so where are the others?”“Oh, you mean the assignment…” the other guard realized before answering with a smile.“Don’t worry, we managed to capture him and get him un

The lighting was down in this area of the laboratory, leaving the dim emergency lights as the only source of illumination, allowing anyone to see. Krasin made a note to also add an estimation for the repairs that needed to be done in the laboratory once all of this was over. For now, he was more concerned with who would be appearing before them in this darkness. The figure in the darkness drew closer, and at a certain point, they were close enough for Krasin and the guards to realize that there wasn’t only one person coming toward them but a whole group of them, the sounds of their footsteps ringing chaotically in the dim lighting.Immediately, before the figures could draw any closer, a guard in the lead quickly raised his voice and shouted at them from afar.“All of you, halt where you are and identify yourselves. You have two seconds to respond, or you will be treated as hostile and swiftly dealt with.”Hearing the voice of the lead guard, the people coming toward them quickly stop

  • Confrontation

Jokes aside, Selene quickly explained to Cale how she managed to take down the surveillance of the entire laboratory.“A few days ago, I got my hands on a military-grade virus that infects all surveillance devices and programs connected to the same channel, granting me backdoor access to control it. With this control, I can do virtually anything I want, like disable the entire network across the whole laboratory. That is why we are here right now.”After understanding everything, Cale smiled joyfully and, surprisingly, grabbed Selene into a tight hug.“Good, good, good!”“This is so good that I could kiss you right now.” Cale hugged Selene for a brief moment before finally letting go after realizing what he had done, which caused him to feel slightly awkward. He quickly calmed his emotions and then continued speaking like nothing had happened.“So, what should we do? How are we going to lure this old fish you mentioned?”Unbothered by Cale’s earlier action, Selene smiled and then said
