“How did you discover that young Cale was missing?”

Karla quickly began answering this question.

“Last night after we parted ways, I went up to my room for the night but before entering I checked up on Kaleb but he wasn’t around so I simply assumed he was sleeping out and didn’t think much about it.”

“But this morning after waking I went to check up on him again to see if he had returned but he wasn’t around yet. That's when I became suspicious.”

“Kaleb doesn’t have many friends, not even in the orphanage. Occasionally he would go back to see some of the other kids and help out a little but he never stayed there for long. But I still called the orphanage regardless just to be sure only to be told that they hadn’t seen Kaleb in days.”

“Then I started asking the neighbors and anyone in the street if they had seen him but they all said the same thing… nobody had seen Kaleb ever since blessing day. He had simply vanished and because of the battle curfew that followed nobody seemed to

Cale was almost driven insane. The pain was too much… he couldn’t stand it and just wanted it all to end. Back then, when the accident happened that trapped Cale’s psyche and consciousness inside the other world, the loneliness he felt was much better than this. For who knows how long, Cale had been trapped inside the other world, locked away from his own body and unable to return. Time seemed irrelevant there for the passing of time in there was like a static sound playing continuously in a loop, neither beginning nor end distinguishable from each other. The only thing that kept Cale sane despite the loneliness was the feeling of connection he felt to his body gradually renewing as time passed. Cale still couldn’t sense what was going on outside but as long as the connection to his body was restored then he would be able to return. Sadly, Cale never expected that as soon as his connection with his body was strong enough for him to return, he would be faced with unimaginable t

Three days later… So many things have happened during these three days. First, after discovering Cale’s disappearance, Karla and Bolin went to make a report at the nearest security station. The military, security bureau, and judicial police were the three largest official armed forces in the fortress and each of them were responsible for overseeing different aspects of the fortresses security operations. The military being the largest among the three was in charge of protecting the fortress against attacks and invasions from hostile enemies originating from beyond the border as well as the exploration and expansion of the fortress territories beyond the border. On the other hand, the security bureau maintained order within the fortress by managing conflicts and dispute between the fortress’s residents. They were divided into two arms, one in charge of overseeing awakened individuals and the other responsible for handling matters related to ordinary individuals. As for the last ar

While the search for Cale began, elsewhere, a secret meeting was taking place. In a dimly lit room where hazy smoke pervaded filling the with a cloud that seemed to obscure everything inside the room, a lone figure sat on a wide chair their body resting against a narrow wall where a wide paper screen overlooked a mountain view, revealing a beautiful scenery on the other side. The figure sat alone inside the room, eyes extending into the distance, their dark pupils reflecting a deep haze of contemplation that was full of focused intensity. There was only one person here, but shortly after, two new arrivals entered the room, apparating out of thin air with wisps of smoke surrounding their forms. As soon as the newcomers arrived, the original occupant of the room quickly stood up to welcome them with a gentle smile. “Welcome my fellow ministers. Im so glad you could join me. How do you like this world that ive created specially for this occasion? Come, sit,” she invited. “Sav

  • Cale’s Disappearance

Nobody said anything to refute and the tests continued without interruption. Within the crowd, Selene frowned with clear disapproval but didn’t come out to say anything in the end. This is how Krasin was, although he was very steady and rule-abiding—straightlaced to a fault—it was to a point that made him even more ruthless than others when it came to conducting research. According to statistics, among the researchers under Professor Ludwig the one with the highest percentage of deaths for research involving a living specimen was Krasin with a whopping 87% chance of a subject of study dying during the research process. It was probably for this reason that Krasin wasn’t considered first for the research on Cale when he was first captured. Still, it was because of these methods that Krasin could continuously produce effective results and firmly planted himself among the top researchers so most of the casualties were ignored and dismissed as collateral damage. This didn’t stop Se

  • Krasin’s Methods

“The test for electromagnetic energy resistance begins at low light intensity.” As Krasin’s words rang out, the glass encasement suddenly brightened as the light within went up intensely. From the previous natural lighting inside the glass, it now looked like somebody had turned on a massive spotlight in the room, flooding everywhere with brightness. Currently, the light within wasn’t enough to cause much discomfort—just a slight irritation to the eye and momentary light blindness though the researchers were prepared for this as they wore dark shades to protect their eyes. “What are the readings?” Krasin’s voice sounded out as he asked someone beside him. “All readings are stable, sir,” was the response. “Good. Then increase the intensity continuously and maintain a gradual progression. Make sure to monitor all parameters carefully,” Krasin instructed. “Yes sir.” Following this exchange, the light within the glass encasement began to brighten, becoming whiter and whiter until n
