Detective Martinez led a team of officers through TechNova's sprawling building, systematically checking every floor. They moved through open offices, conference rooms, supply closets, and locked storage areas. Each door opened revealed nothing but empty spaces, office equipment, and the mundane remnants of a workday.

"Third floor clear," Officer Chen reported into his radio. "Moving to the fourth."

"Nothing on two," another officer's voice crackled back. "Just offices and cubicles."

Martinez stood in the main hallway, frustration etched on her face as she watched her team work. Hours of searching and they'd found nothing—no sign of Harry Solomon, no evidence of a struggle, no clues about where he or Alice Anderson might have been taken.

"It's like he vanished into thin air," Chen observed, joining Martinez. "No physical evidence, corrupted security footage, no witnesses."

"Someone went to a lot of trouble to make this disappear clean," Martinez replied. "The missing camera footage is

"We have witnesses and recorded evidence," Martinez replied. "Mr. Solomon, your son conspired with Samuel Walsh to kidnap Harry Solomon. He also hired Victor Kane to kidnap Alice Anderson. The evidence is overwhelming.""Lies!" Mrs. Solomon screamed. "All lies! Harry is a liar and he framed Frank because he's jealous!""Jealous of what?" Martinez asked, her patience clearly wearing thin."Of Frank's success! Of Frank's intelligence! Harry has always tried to make Frank look bad!" Mrs. Solomon continued hysterically."Mom, please," Frank said weakly. "Just... just stop.""I won't stop!" Mrs. Solomon insisted. "They're taking you away for something you didn't do! Frank, tell them! Tell them you're innocent!"Frank looked at his mother's desperate face, then at his father's horrified expression. He could maintain the lie. Could keep claiming innocence. But what was the point? Alice had identified him. Harry had recorded him confessing to Samuel. Samuel would testify against him to save h

Harry looked at Alice, her question hanging in the air between them. His heart pounded as he considered his answer. Finally, he spoke."Yes," Harry said softly. "Alice, I do feel the same way about you. I have for a while now."Alice's face lit up with joy. "Really?""Really," Harry confirmed. "But Alice, I'm not sure your family would be okay with this. Your father clearly hates me, and Mona—""I don't care what Mona thinks," Alice interrupted firmly. "And my father will have to accept it. Harry, I almost died. I'm not wasting any more time worrying about what other people think."Mona, who'd been standing silently in the corner since her outburst, let out a bitter laugh. "Of course. Of course you get him. Perfect Alice always gets everything she wants.""This isn't about you, Mona," Alice replied without looking at her."It's always about me not being good enough!" Mona shot back, her voice rising. "I tried so hard to get Harry's attention, but no—he'd rather have boring, plain Alic

Alice took another deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she continued her statement. Detective Martinez waited patiently, her pen poised over her notepad."After they hit me, I was barely conscious," Alice said, her voice steadier now. "But I could hear them talking. They were arguing about what to do with me. One voice kept saying they needed to move me quickly before anyone found me. The other voice—Frank's voice—said they should just leave me there.""And you're certain it was Frank Solomon's voice?" Martinez asked carefully."Positive," Alice confirmed. "I've heard Frank talk dozens of times at TechNova. It was definitely him."Harry felt his jaw clench. Hearing Alice confirm what he'd suspected made his blood boil."What else did you hear?" Martinez prompted."They were talking about Mr. Chen," Alice continued. "Frank said something about how this was the perfect opportunity. That while everyone was distracted looking for Harry, they could rob the company. Get into the va

Samuel shouted, spotting Harry's car. "I knew someone was following me!"Harry got out of his car slowly, his hands visible. "Samuel, the police are on their way. Don't make this worse—""Worse?" Samuel laughed bitterly. "How could it possibly get worse? I'm already a wanted man because of you! Because you ruined my life!""I didn't ruin your life," Harry replied calmly. "You did that yourself when you kidnapped me.""I had no choice!" Samuel yelled. "Frank promised me money! Promised me a

"I found Samuel Walsh. He's at TechNova right now, and I'm following him.""What?" Martinez's voice sharpened. "Harry, do not engage with him. Samuel is dangerous—""I'm not engaging," Harry interrupted. "I'm just following. He's heading tow

Harry was halfway to the elevator when he heard voices coming from one of the empty conference rooms near the stairwell. Something about the hushed, urgent tone made him pause. His danger sense hummed faintly—not screaming danger, but warning him to pay attention. He moved quietly toward the conference room, staying close to the wall. Through the partially open door, Harry could see two figures standing in the dim light, their backs to him.One was Frank. The other made Harry's breath catch in his throat—Samuel Walsh."I told you not to come here," Frank was saying, his voice low and tense. "The police are looking everywhere for you. If someone sees you—""I needed my money," Samuel interrupted harshly. "You promised me payment, Frank. I did what you asked, and now you're trying to stiff me?""I'm not stiffing you," Frank hissed. "But I can't exactly transfer funds to a wanted fugitive without raising red flags.
