Tyler exited the hallway, returning to the innkeeper to bypass them and head to his own room. Upstairs, he entered, sat on the bed, and began to think. "I really need to craft all the materials in my recipes," he mused, "otherwise they're just going to pile up. I need to buy a barrel and fill it with water, then put it in my inventory. That way I won't have to worry about finding water for potions. If I'd had that barrel with me, I could have helped Rebecca when she was hurt. I wouldn't have had to run all the way to the river to fill those vials. Right after I deliver the trihorn hide to the tent, I'm going to have to repay Grone. I think I'll have enough money by then. And I'm going to have to check in with Hector's shop—see if they've sold the shield, and, well, see if Emily's doing okay. She must be fine by now. I hope she doesn't do anything… wrong. That might piss off Hector, or he might fire her." He paused, considering. "I don't even know people's preferences in this world. We

Toren, the fighter, as he walked behind Jason with the group as they arrived behind the tent, remarked, "Looks like we're really here. Your teleportation skill really took us far." Jason, however, ignored him, his focus solely on the task ahead.Tom, one of the archers, chimed in, "Of course it did. He's an A-ranked mage; he can actually use a teleportation skill to take us really far, unlike someone else."Toren chuckled softly. "Yeah, I forgot about that. Sometimes you can forget she's even a mage."Jason, his voice sharp with warning, said, "Quiet, both of you. This isn't a time for idle chatter. Do you find this situation amusing? If you don’t take this seriously, that hunter might kill you."Tim, the knight, who was carrying a thin sword on his back, stated, "I don't think so. We came in a large group, and we have you to support us, a mage. I'd be surprised if he could even badly injure any of us. Especially with your buffs; those alone can boost our abilities to that of a B-rank

  • Chapter 84: The Calm Before The Storm

Mani sat centered in the mansion's library, perched on one of the room's worn wooden chairs. Malisa stood behind her, the tips of her fingers glowing a soft, golden hue as they rested on either side of Mani's head."Thank you," Mani said, breaking the silence with a soft voice.Malisa, still standing behind her, responded, "It's okay. There's no need to thank me, I'm just doing my job as the Guild's healer." The golden light from her fingertips still faintly illuminating the space."I should be thanking you," Mani insisted, her voice carrying more emotion. "You saved this entire guild from collapsing earlier. If it weren't for you back there, who knows what could've happened." She leaned back slightly in the chair, her eyes closed.Malisa's voice was level. "It was the only thing I could do at that moment. Everyone was getting… agitated. I had to use it… my skill." Her expression remained unreadable in the dim light."Light of Calm..." Mani considered, attempting to recall. "If I reme

  • Chapter 83: Speed And Arrow

Deep within the Crossroads Monster Base, the forest floor a carpet of shadows and dappled sunlight, Rebecca watched Tyler. He stood motionless, his gaze fixed on some distant point, his expression unreadable. Her thoughts raced, a whirlwind of questions and suspicions. *How did he suddenly become so much faster? He couldn't have leveled up significantly from those few accidental kills. Did he have a skill like that all along? Even his strength seemed to have increased; he shattered that entire room with a single blow. His skills, his abilities… how many more is he hiding? He's a false ranker. He has to be.*She began to walk towards him, her footsteps barely disturbing the quiet of the forest.Meanwhile, another system panel appeared before Tyler: `+50 AGI.` A slow smile spread across his face. *Speed of sound… I knew my speed would increase dramatically, but I didn't expect to break the sound barrier. I didn't think reaching a certain speed would trigger an achievement. I got a huge

  • Chapter 82: Double Impact

A wave of shock rippled through the guild members after Mani's announcement. The vice-captain's voice cut through the resulting commotion. "What? Ian is dead?" Mani trembled, her hands covering her face. "Yes," she whispered, "I saw it."The room erupted in a flurry of accusations and worried whispers. Sabrina's voice rose above the din. "Alec, why the hell did you leave Ian behind? The captain specifically told you to go and come back together. He told you not to be restless. We thought you were the smarter one. Why the fuck did you leave him behind?"Alec attempted to defend himself. "Listen, I tried to get him to come back with me, okay? He didn't listen. Instead, he took on a quest and went into the monster zones where someone who could be targeting our guild members was. I didn't even think he was that stupid. I thought he might actually follow, but—"Before he could finish, the vice-captain, Grant, strode towards Ian. Fear flickered in Ian's eyes as he took a hesitant step back.

Alec arrived in Aria and entered the courtyard of the Black Cloud Guild's mansion. A small fountain stood in the centre of the yard, after the imposing steel gates. As he walked, he thought, *The Captain's going to be pissed that I let Ian stay behind. We were supposed to come back together. Anyways, it's not my fault he stayed, right? I told that dumbass to come with me, but he wouldn't listen.*Just as Alec reached the mansion's entrance, he heard sounds from the side of the building. *Huh, what the hell was that? Is it Mani?* he wondered. He circled the mansion, heading towards the large backyard where Mani often spent her time, and where guild members sometimes sparred. There, he found the Captain, dressed in casual attire—a brown shirt and pants, leather boots—and holding a small, silver sword he rarely used for hunting."Captain," Alec said. The Captain turned. "Oh, Alec, you've returned," he said."Yes, sir," Alec replied. "I've returned with information. The mission you gave u

  • Chapter 80: Level Up

Tyler stood facing the slime, but the slime's attention was suddenly diverted. Behind Tyler, Rebecca's light-based arrow attack still blazed, a beacon in the darkening forest. The slime attempted to circumvent Tyler, but Tyler reacted instantly, blocking its path with a swift, powerful movement. The slime, caught off guard, leaped backward, letting out a confused *kyuu*. It seemed disoriented, unsure why Tyler was blocking its path to the light.*So that's the skill the Shinebow grants,* Tyler mused, *It's almost identical to the Shine Armor's skill, except for their names.*The slime, regaining its composure, launched a powerful punch, its slimy arm stretching an impossible distance. Tyler met the blow with a counterpunch of his own. The slime retracted its arm and launched another attack; Tyler countered with his left fist. The exchange continued, blow for blow, until the slime unleashed its Rapid Bashing Punches again. Tyler met each attack with a precise counter, his movements a b
