A huge white snake and a man sitting on its head watched what was happening in the city that was dear to them. At night, they observed when most of the townspeople were asleep, and a minority was engaged in those things that are not customary to do in the light of day. Or for which they did not have enough time during the day.

What was interesting to the snake and man began quite recently. In one of the oldest houses in the city, the light came on in almost all the windows. Shadows darted across the rooms.
