Blink. Blink.
The boy opened his eyes, his vision settling on the large branch of the tree above him. Leaves fluttered down, carried by a passing gust of wind.
'What just happened?'
The thought occurred—and vanished almost instantly.
He pushed against the ground beneath him and sat up. The memory of his earlier encounter with the talking goblin was still vivid.
Such strange dreams weren't anything new to him. Being hungry almost every day had made him hallucinate all kinds of bizarre things.
Maybe this was just another one of those encounters.
Phew.
Exhaling softly, he stood and brushed the dust from his worn-out clothes.
"Let's hurry," he muttered. "Mirai must be starving."
Having no reason to linger on something pointless,he started walking.
His destination? The large tree house to the west.
Step.
Step.
Walking for quite a while,he stopped abruptly. His hand clenched, then slowly loosened. A sudden dread crawl up on his spine.
"B-Bread? W-Where is my bread?"
He desperately searched for the loaf but found himself empty.
Tracing his steps back, he went back to the place where the strange incident occurred.
Nothing.
The bread was nowhere to be found.
"Fuck"
A frustrated yell left his throat as he threw a punch at the tree.
"Do we really have to taste goblin meat again?!"
The thought suddenly popped out almost making him puke.
However, he managed to hold it back.
Goblin meat.
Goblins were the weakest monsters there were. Even in packs, they were easy to hunt.
It was even easier when one encountered a goblin or two separated from the pack.
And that was the precise moment, the boy always looked for.
After all, With his current strength, that was all he could manage, as it was their only source of food.
Time passed as the boy initially let the bygone be bygone.
"Mirai...." He muttered, as a small smile tugged at his lips.
His mind filled with thoughts of little Mirai and her cuteness.
Turning around, he stilled himself to leave the place.
However, a voice suddenly rang inside his head.
"You won't even question the magic cube that was given to you?"
A chill ran down his spine.
The voice was strangely familiar.
The boy halted, his eyes widening briefly in realization.
'The goblin's voice?'
"it was a real event? Not a hallucination?" he concluded and asked carefully at the same time, not daring to offend the entity.
"I'm afraid not!" the voice echoed again. "You were going on and on about your life ..Aren't you curious about the cube?"
'The cube?' He instantly understood the implication.
Exhaling softly he asked cautiously,"Would knowing about it bring food to our table?"
"Who knows? Maybe it could. Maybe it couldn't." The voice ranged again.
"If it won't then I don't have any reason to pry into something that electrocuted the hell out of me!" He stated nonchalantly.
"Is that so? Well, you better ask about it"
"I don't see any reason to go that far."
"I told you to ask me!" The voice asserted it's dominance.
"F-Fine...Tell me about the Cube." The boy asked hesitantly..
"Pwahahahaha! That's something you have to find out yourself." The voice mused.
-Silence.
The boy stared at the empty air showcasing a poker face.
"huh?", he couldn't believe the situation.
'Was I just getting played around?' he thought but still waited for several minutes, expecting an explanation.
However, the Voice never returned.
"Won't you explain anything?" He yelled at the empty space.
No response.
"Fucking Goblins, wasting my time for nothing!" he hissed, resuming his walk.
'He talked about 'The Cube.' Couldn't he infer that I didn't have one? Sure, I'd been offered it, but I hadn't accepted it!', He complained under his breath.
Everything that had occured, all led to that mysterious cube.
Curious, he stared at the sky and muttered under his breath, " Truly, What was that Cube?"
[The final consent has been asserted]
A sudden unbelievable words floated in front of him.
'The final consent?...what consent?' he wondered.
-Whoooosh
Suddenly, a violent gust of wind surged from the north.
The ground beneath him trembled.
His eyes bulged. His head lurched.
Words of unknown origin hammered relentlessly against his mind—until he could infer another single line.
[Resistance is futile]
The words burned blood-red, terrifying in both color and intent making his heart race.
Bit by bit, his vision blurred, yet the words showed no mercy.
[The Conqueror's System is merging with the host's soul.]
An unknown force had weighed upon his very existence.
'wh.. what's this?"
He clenched his teeth, struggling with everything he had to repel the unknown force. A thin line of blood trickled from the corner of his lips.
[Resistance detected]
[Taking necessary measures]
-Bzzzztttt!
A violent jolt of electricity shot up his spine, his body convulsing visibly.
His mind went blank.
His body collapsed, but the cruel force did not relent.
[The Conqueror's System is forcefully merging with the host's soul.]

Chapter 18:Orham Baronate
The carriage rolled steadily forward along a single road lane.Guards of various beast-kin lined both sides of the road, standing at regular intervals—watchful, unmoving, their vigilance unbroken as the carriage passed between them.It bypassed the checkpoint swiftly before coming to a halt at a three-way intersection. Each lane was systematically constructed, its purpose clearly marked by signboards placed near the lane lines. The path to the right bore the mark "Guild."The one to the left read "Main Gate."And the road stretching straight ahead was labeled "Commoners' Ground."The coachman gently slid aside the small rectangular window behind him and spoke respectfully."Sir, shall I take the usual Guild route, then proceed through the V.I.P passage to reach the mansion?""No…" Elfrez replied after a brief pause. "Take the Commoners' Zone."There was a faint hint of indulgence in his tone."I don't know when I'll be able to roam freely again," he continued. "So I'll give our guests
Chapter 17: Welcome to Capital
Marfin popped his head out through the carriage window.Fresh air rushed in from all sides, ruffling his hair as his raccoon-like ears twitched instinctively beneath the sudden breeze.Far ahead, dominating his line of sight, rose a towering gate—systematically reinforced by stone-like walls that stretched wide and unyielding. Everything beyond them lay hidden, wrapped in secrecy. Yet even so, a lone clock tower pierced the skyline, visible above the fortress as if silently watching all who approached.Along the ramparts of the fortress, numerous beast-kin stood poised, bows drawn and arrows nocked, their silhouettes rigid against the stone. Every movement, every hardened gaze was trained outward—alert to the slightest threat that might endanger the city sheltered behind those walls."It's impressive…"Marfin silently praised the city's systematic defensive arteries, his gaze lingering on the towering walls and vigilant ramparts for several seconds longer than necessary. Then he shi

"The necklace is safe—securely packed with me.""That's the top priority. No matter what happens, we can't lose it… or I don't even want to imagine what Rabetina would do this time.""Do you think she'd go on strike again? She's been oddly well-behaved these days, hasn't she?""That could just be her silence before the storm…" The voices lingered, etching themselves into Marfin's ears as his consciousness slowly surfaced. His eyelids fluttered open, greeted by a ceiling that swayed ever so slightly. At a single glance anyone could infer it as a well furnished and well crafted art. Soon, he could feel the faint tremor traveling through his body following by the warm sunlight brushing across his face, stealing his attention. His wandering eyes finally caught the glimpse of the moving scenerio outside. It was only then, as the pieces quietly fell into place, that he realized...He was inside a carriage. The firm weight resting on his lap confirmed it further. Mirai lay there, fast as

"Saved you?"Eldrin muttered the words under his breath, his eyes snapping to Marfin at once. Disbelief rose unfiltered across his face."This peepsqueak?"He turned back to Elfrez while tilting his head slightly."You're not playing some kind of joke on me… are you?""Why would I joke about that?" Elfrez shot back."W-well…" Eldrin hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. "If you're serious, then I don't even know how to feel about it. A raccoon-kin fending off threats that even Mr. Ryden couldn't finish?"Elfrez let out a sharp laugh."Hah! Did you even take any of the lessons I taught you seriously, Eldrin?"He leaned forward slightly, eyes narrowing with intent."Never judge anyone by their appearance.""R-right…" Eldrin let out a light sigh before turning to Marfin once more.Realizing the rudeness that had slipped from him earlier, he bowed shallowly."My apologies. It was simply… an impossible feat to imagine. Thank you for lending your hand to the President.""I only hope yo
Chapter 14: Eldrin Eniyon
Dawn's light spilled across the vast forest, painting its edges in pale gold.At the farthest outskirts, Marfin walked in silence beside Elfrez and Ryden.Mirai was tied to his back with a soft cloth, sleeping peacefully, her cheek pressed against his shoulder as a thin line of drool escaped her lips. As they pressed on, Ryden studied Marfin from the corner of his eye, his steps never slowing."You look tired. I can carry her for you."He said it as he extended his single hand.Marfin slapped it away."No need. I can carry her forever if I have to."He glanced sideways, rolling his eyes. "Besides, I wouldn't hand my sister to a creep—someone who'd probably slice her head off the moment his so-called duty demanded it." His tone dripped with sarcasm."You keep clinging to the same mistake," Ryden replied with a low hum. "Let it go already.""If it bothers you that much," Marfin shot back, "maybe you shouldn't have pointed that sword at us in the first place. You could've tried having a
Chapter 13: A calculated Gamble
Marfin stared at Elfrez for a few seconds, then tilted his head toward Ryden, who was wiping away his saliva, a deep frown stretched across his face.'They don't… remember.'The realization drew a deeper crease between Marfin's brows. His fingers tightened around Faceless as he studied the mask for a few seconds longer before lifting his gaze."It's fine… I have a rough idea of it, so there's no need to put it on right now," he said, offering the mask back to Elfrez."Keep it. It's your compensation," Elfrez replied with a light chuckle. "Weren't you concerned about your safety and secrecy?""Ah… so you're telling me to stay in disguise so no one recognizes me?" Marfin asked, tilting his head to the side."If you could remain disguised at all times, that would be even better for you," Elfrez said calmly. "After all, no one would ever learn your true identity. However…" His gaze sharpened slightly. "That kind of life would take a heavy toll on you, wouldn't it?"'Would it?' Marfin lamp
