Chapter 8

Jay POV

"Come to BrainHub now, Ariel!" I commanded urgently over the phone.

"What's happened?" she asked from the other end.

"No time to explain. Come to the chairman's office. I've locked him in and Claire is watching over him," I explained.

"What? You locked the chairman in? What are you--"

"He's the next victim. Come watch over him and help me find someone," I cut her off.

"Talk to Drake. He knows a thing or two about finding people."

"Okay, come quickly."

"Jay, if--"

I hung up, not wanting to hear whatever she was about to say. I quickly dialed Drake's number.

"Hey, Drake."

"Hey, Jay."

"Can you find someone for me?" I asked without wasting any time.

"Who?"

"Wait, let me send you a picture." I hung up and sent him the picture.

I called him back. "That man in the middle, the old man. Find information about him."

"On it."

"How long will it take?"

"20 minutes at most," he replied.

"Okay, I'll be waiting." I hung up again.

I was in a coffee shop across from BrainHub, watching as police and detectives filled the building. They were still trying to figure out how the victims had been drugged. They were moving too slowly, and by the time they figured out what was wrong, everyone in that picture could be dead.

I saw Ariel get out of a police car with three other colleagues. The captain tried to talk to her, but she ignored him and hurried inside. I could finally calm down now that Ariel was here. She would take care of everything.

My phone screen lit up, and I saw the information Drake had sent me. He had taken only 15 minutes, just like he said he would. I muttered Joseph Heads' name and saw everything about him, from when he was born to when he died, everything about his family, his wife's death, and his two kids. She had changed their surname, but they had grown up well. Drake had even attached their recent pictures and address.

"Just what I need," I grinned. I needed to pay them a visit, but I didn't have any money. I was about to call Ariel to lend me some when a car stopped beside me.

"Hop in," Drake said, winding down the window.

"You came just in time. How did you know I was here?" I got in the car and put on my seatbelt.

"There's a tracker in your phone. In fact, I inserted it for everyone on the team. Who knows what might happen?" I nodded in understanding.

"Anyway, why are you looking into Mr. Joseph?" Drake glanced at me.

"One of his children is the suspect for now," I answered.

"Which one of them?"

"You'll know soon. Do you know where we're going?" Drake nodded.

My phone beeped, and I took it out of my pocket. I was still trying to figure out how to unlock it, but it wasn't locked anyway. I saw a notification from Twitter. I slowly tapped the app and checked the message. Just as I thought, the same message had been sent to him.

"I was right," I whispered.

"Crap, what is that?" Drake half-yelled.

Since she had sent this, did that mean she had already given him the antidepressants? This message showed that she was sure she had already fed him the drugs. But Ariel and Claire were on guard, so how did--?

"Wait, what if he's already been drugged, then--"

"Jay, what is it? Why are you talking to yourself? Why can't I understand?" Drake interrupted.

I ignored him and dialed Ariel's number.

"Hello," her melodious voice sounded, but I wasn't in the mood to admire it.

"Open that office and check on the chairman now!" I yelled.

"Calm down, Jay. I will--"

"Ahhhhh!" I heard screams from the background.

"What is it? Ariel! Ariel!" All I heard was noise.

"Ariel, what's wrong?" I panicked.

"I'll call you back," she answered and hung up hastily.

I sat there, worried. Something must have happened. I creased my brow. What if--?

"Should we go back?" Drake questioned when he saw how concerned I was.

"Noo we have to get her,step on the gas" 

"Ok"

 Draked halt in front of a storey building

"Is it here?" I stepped out of the car

"Yes it here" Drake moved to the door and pressed the bell.

For the past 5 minutes now we have been standing in front of the building ringing the bell and no one answered the bell.

Just when I wanted to give up,the door opened.

"How may I help you?" A man peeped looking at me and Drake with interest.

I recognized him immediately,he's Mr Joseph's son.

"Is Anita in?" I got their names from the information I read.

Drake turned to look at me in surprise.

He wasn't me to pretend I know her.

"She's not in,but will soon be back,who are you?" 

"We are her colleague at work" 

"Oh I see,come in she will be here soon" He opened the door widely gesture for us to enter

"You must be Henry?" 

"Yes I am"

"Anita told me alot about you" I started a conversation

"Really? You guys must be close,Anita doesn't open up to people that well"

"I see no wonder it is hard to get to be her friend" Drake watched in silence.

"You can sit, let me get you…."

"Water will be ok"I interrupted

He went disappear 

"What was that?" Drake nudged me

"What? I can't tell him we are the police. He might call his sister and tell her"I elaborated.

" what if….." Drake shut up when he saw him back.

"Here" he places down a glass of water for me and coffee for Drake.

"When will she be back?" I was getting impatient

"She normally comes by this time I don't know…."

The sound of the bell engulf the entire house

"That must be Anita,let me get to the door" he stood up and left to open the door for his sister.

"She's back,what are you gonna do now?"

"Just watch and see" I replied to him

"Sis someone is here for you" 

"Who?"

"You will be surprised when you see him" I can hear the siblings converse.

They both came in

"Tada!" Her brother yelped pointing to I and Drake

"Who are they?" Her cold voice rang out

If Ariel is an ice Queen then she's a snow Queen

Her gaze is enough to freeze someone,her black hair fell to her waist.

She wasn't wearing any makeup but her small round face,long nose,rosy lips was the most beautiful I have seen

In one word she's breathtaking.she even looked better than her pics.

I don't know I will one day be dealing with such a beautiful criminal.

"I asked who you are?" She squirt her eyes

"Sis mean you don't know them?" Her brother was confused

I brought out my ID

"We are the police,Miss Anita you are arrested as the main suspect of the BrainHub serial murders" I moved closer to her and handcuffed her

"What are you doing? What murder?" Her brother tried to fight me.

"Henry calm down,I will be back" She assured him.

"But sis…"

"I will be back, have I ever lied to you?"

He looked at her and stepped back.

"Let's move Drake" Drake, who was shocked by the turn of events, nodded and together we left.
