Vivian’s brows pulled together, her voice laced with disbelief. “Save my company? Karvel, what are you even talking about?”

Karvel didn’t budge, standing tall in the center of her hotel suite like he owned it. “Leo pulled his funding. Thirty-seven percent of your liquid capital just vanished. I know the timing, the reason, and the consequences. You’ve got three weeks before operations grind to a halt.”

She folded her arms, her pride snapping into place like armor. “You must be confused. It’s a minor issue. Nothing I can’t handle.”

He chuckled darkly. “Minor? Sure. Minor like a bullet wound in the neck. Stop pretending you’re not drowning, Vivian.”

Her eyes flared with defiance. “Even if that were true, why would you care?”

Karvel moved closer, eyes locked on hers, voice low and pointed. “Because I don’t like watching people I respect get destroyed by narcissistic cowards in designer suits.”

Vivian scoffed. “Respect? Please. Don’t try to play the knight here. You’re just looking for a

Vivian's eyes immediately locked onto the distinctive tattoo covering the hitman's skull, and her blood ran cold. She had heard enough about The Ronin from their earlier conversations to recognize the symbol instantly."Sophia," she whispered urgently, tugging at her friend's arm. "We need to leave. Now."Sophia looked confused. "What? Why? Karvel's injured, we can't just—""Ladies," Karvel interrupted, his voice calm but firm. "Could you excuse us for a moment? I need to speak with this gentleman privately.""But Karvel—" Sophia started to protest. The way the bald man was staring at them made her skin crawl. His dark eyes roamed over their bodies with undisguised interest, lingering on their faces and figures like a predator sizing up prey."Absolutely beautiful," the hitman said with a cold smile. "Both of them."Vivian grabbed Sophia's hand and squeezed it tightly, signaling her to stay quiet. "Of course, Karvel. We'll be right outside if you need anything."As they moved toward t

The hospital's sterile white corridors felt suffocating as Mariya walked beside Karvel's wheelchair toward the admission desk. The poison had been neutralized, but he was still weak and disoriented from the ordeal."The doctors want to keep you overnight for observation," Mariya said, trying to make conversation despite the tension between them."Fine," Karvel replied curtly, not bothering to look at her."Karvel, I know you're angry with me, but I need you to understand—""Understand what?" Karvel interrupted, his voice dripping with disdain. "That you want absolution for destroying our marriage? That you expect gratitude for driving me to the hospital after I nearly died saving your ungrateful life?"Mariya stopped walking, her hands trembling with frustration. "I'm trying to thank you!""I don't want your thanks," Karvel said coldly. "I don't want anything from you.""Why are you being so cruel?"Karvel finally looked at her, his eyes filled with contempt. "Cruel? You think I'm bei

The makeshift antidote had slowed the poison's progression, but Karvel's condition continued to deteriorate. Dark veins pulsed visibly beneath his pale skin, and his breathing had become shallow and erratic."Karvel, stay with me," Mariya pleaded, kneeling beside him as he slumped against the blood-stained wall. "The antidote is working, right? You said it would work!""It's... buying time," Karvel managed through gritted teeth, his words slurred by the poison's effects. "But I need... proper medical treatment."Waves of delirium washed over him, making the room spin violently. Mariya's face kept shifting in and out of focus, sometimes appearing as a stranger, sometimes as the woman he had once loved."This is all my fault," Mariya whispered, tears streaming down her face. "You came here to save me, and now you're dying because of it. After everything I did to you, all the times I doubted you, you still risked your life for me."Karvel's eyes rolled back as another wave of hallucinati

Karvel stepped between the twins and Mariya, expecting another routine confrontation with common thugs. But as Antonio Ricci and Salvatore Ricci moved in perfect synchronization, their coordinated attack patterns immediately told him these were no ordinary criminals."You made a mistake coming here, Mr. Cross," Antonio said, his movements fluid and precise like a trained assassin."The only mistake was made by whoever sent you," Karvel replied, deflecting Salvatore's initial strike. But his confidence quickly evaporated as the twins demonstrated skills that rivaled professional military operatives. Their attacks were relentless, calculated, and devastatingly effective."What's wrong, Cross?" Salvatore taunted as he landed a solid blow to Karvel's ribs. "Not as easy as you thought it would be?"Karvel stumbled backward, genuinely surprised by their capabilities. "Who trained you two?""The Ronin doesn't hire amateurs," Antonio replied, following up with a vicious combination that force

"Karvel, thank God you answered!" Mariya's voice was hysterical with panic. "I'm in terrible danger! Leo is dead and there are people after me. They say I owe them money – billions of dollars! You have to help me!"Karvel looked directly at the hitman as he responded. "Mariya, I told you three years ago that Leo Romano was dangerous. I warned you not to marry him. You chose not to listen to me then, so why should I help you now?""Because I'm going to die!" she screamed through the phone. "They killed Leo in prison! They're going to kill me too if I don't pay them!""Then you should have thought about that before you chose a criminal over your husband," Karvel said with cruel indifference. "You made your bed, Mariya. Now lie in it.""Karvel, please! I know I was wrong about you, but—"But he hung up the call. The hitman's eyebrowless face remained expressionless as he listened to Mariya's desperate pleas echoing through Karvel's phone. Karvel stood in the luxurious lobby of the Meridian Hotel, his mind still processing Vivian's passionate plea to help Mariya. The marble floors gleamed under the crystal chandeliers, but his thoughts were darker.Leo Romano's death in prison had robbed him of the satisfaction of watching his enemy suffer the full consequences of his actions."Who is this organization?" he muttered to himself. "What kind of reach do they have to eliminate someone in maximum security?"As he walked toward the exit, two men in dark suits suddenly appeared, blocking his path. One was a stocky Italian with graying temples, the other younger with cold eyes."Excuse me, Mr. Cross," the older man said with a thick accent. "My name is Marco Benedetti, and this is my associate Giuseppe Romano. Our boss would like to have a word with you."Karvel's expression remained neutral. "I don't know your boss, and I have no interest in meeting him."Giuseppe stepped closer, his hand moving slightly toward his jacket. "Mr
