“Damn it! Why didn’t you tell me there was a girl behind the fence?” Fang Yun whispered sharply.

“How should I know?” Ho Chen shrugged his shoulders.

“You could’ve sensed her energy!” Fang Yun snapped back.

“Couldn’t you do the same?”

Fang Yun paused for a moment, then chuckled and smacked his forehead. “No wonder I didn’t feel any energy—she’s not a warrior like us.”

“Exactly. Now you get it. Come on, let’s go. I want to ask her something.” Ho Chen walked off without waiting for Fang Yun to reply.

Their steps came to a halt near the girl they had just rescued. Ho Chen didn’t speak right away; instead, he stared at her face for a moment. He was still curious about the pure blood running through her veins.

“Thank you both for your help. My name is Mei Ling, but you can call me Mei,” she said, introducing herself.

“I’m Ho Chen, and this is Fang Yun. May I ask where you’re from? Tomorrow morning, we’ll escort you home.”

“My home is in Shuyang village. But it’s no use taking me back,” Mei

  • Execute

It was no great trouble for the son of Duke Fang An to eliminate the dozen men who had surrounded and attacked him. Especially now that his sword possessed a unique power—capable of freezing his enemies' bodies solid.Meanwhile, Ho Chen had already entered the thick bamboo forest. His sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for the location of the sect that was said to be hidden deep within the woods. The dense, towering bamboo trees made the search all the more difficult. However, after an exhausting and relentless effort, the young man finally discovered a narrow path which he assumed led toward the location of the Mad Bamboo Sect.Though the bamboo forest wasn't particularly wide, the Mad Bamboo Sect, situated at its heart, remained invisible from the outside. Thousands of bamboo trees grew in dense clusters, forming a natural fortress that concealed everything within. Unless one could find the narrow trail—the only access to the sect

  • The Ritual of Awakening the Demon Army's Spirits

Ho Chen took a deep, slightly heavy breath. He felt the oxygen level in the valley was extremely low, even though trees lined the foothills in abundance."How strange..." he muttered softly."What's strange?" asked Fang Yun, having overheard his friend talking to himself.Ho Chen furrowed his brow at Fang Yun, who looked completely unbothered. “Don’t you feel a heaviness when breathing?”“No. Why?”“Nothing. It’s just... I feel like I’m breathing heavily,” Ho Chen replied while turning his gaze toward the bamboo forest. “We’d better go on foot. I’m afraid the sound of horses might draw attention.”Ho Chen leapt off his horse and tied the reins to a nearby tree. Fang Yun did the same, choosing a tree beneath which fresh grass grew abundantly to tie his steed. The incarnation of the Sun God moved ahead first. But after just a few steps, Fang Yun

  • Gayatri’s Explanation

Before Fang Yun could respond to Ho Chen’s words, there was a knock on the door, followed immediately by it swinging open.Gayatri stepped into the room with a bright smile on her lips—a smile that was clearly forced. A motherly warmth still shone in the eyes of this woman who had given birth to both a son and a daughter.Neither Fang Yun nor Ho Chen had any suspicions about Gayatri entering the room. They both assumed she simply wanted to spend more time with her son after being separated from him for a whole year.Gayatri walked to the bed and sat down between the two young men. In response, Fang Yun and Ho Chen straightened their backs and assumed a more respectful posture.“Fang Yun, Ho Chen... there’s something I need to talk to you both about,” Gayatri began, pausing to bite her lower lip.She truly found it difficult to speak the truth, but she tried her best to choose her words carefully, hoping to offer another reason that would prompt the two young men to leave the palace as

  • Suspicion

Fang Yun could sense that something was wrong. And when he connected it with the code his father had given earlier in the hall, he felt there must be a connection."Father, is something wrong?" Fang Yun asked. His eyes glanced at Ho Chen, who was also watching him.As a father, Duke Fang An certainly didn’t want to worry his son. He forced a smile onto his lips as best as he could. Though bitter, he had to manage it."There’s nothing, my son. Just a small matter, nothing you need to trouble yourself with. Your father is still more than capable of handling it," he replied."But, Father...""That's enough, Fang Yun. It’s your father's matter, let me handle this little issue," Duke Fang An interjected, stopping his son's words. "Why are you home already? Isn’t the long break still a year away? And who are your two friends?""Star Sword Sect no longer exists, my husband. So our son can’t train there an

Fang Yun was beaming. His face lit up with a joy that revealed the happiness flooding his mind.Once on horseback, Fang Yun spurred ahead, followed by Ho Chen from behind. The people of the Luyin duchy, upon crossing paths with the son of Duke Fang An, immediately bowed their heads in respect. This left Mei Ling puzzled. Until now, she still had no clear understanding of Fang Yun’s true status.A soldier hurriedly opened the palace gate upon seeing their leader’s son arriving in front of the palace. Five other soldiers stood tall with their heads bowed.Fang Yun invited Mei Ling and Ho Chen to dismount. A soldier took the reins of the two prized horses and led them inside.“Why are we here?” Mei Ling asked, puzzled.“It’s nothing serious. Just a little errand. Come on, let’s go in,” Fang Yun replied.Ho Chen gave a slight smile. The once-rival-turned-close-friend had drastically c
