The young man stood frozen for a while, staring at the grand building with its exquisite architecture. Again, he tried to connect it to the woman who had appeared in his dream. Could she have been the queen who ruled the palace now standing before him?

Ho Chen’s daydream was abruptly broken when Fang Yun patted him on the shoulder. He turned and saw his friend already standing beside him.

“How can you be lost in thought so early in the morning?” Fang Yun chuckled, then sat down next to him. “What were you daydreaming about?”

“Did you see…” Ho Chen stopped mid-sentence. The palace he had been staring at had vanished without a trace. He scratched his head, puzzled.

“See what?” Fang Yun asked curiously.

“Nothing. Forget it,” Ho Chen replied. There was no way he could talk about something that had completely disappeared. He didn’t want to be accused of hallucinating.

“Could it have just been my imagination?” he wondered to himself.

“Why are you spacing out again?” Fang Yun asked, bewilder

Before he could even regain his balance, another attack struck—one invisible to Ranu’s eyes. He only sensed a massive surge of energy moving toward him.Ranu quickly dodged again, leaping two steps to the side. But suddenly, a powerful blow smashed into his back, sending him tumbling across the ground repeatedly.A faint cough escaped his lips, followed by a trickle of fresh blood from the corner of his mouth. Forcing himself up, Ranu wiped the blood with the back of his hand. Before he could fully stand, yet another unseen strike landed squarely on his chest. Fortunately, he managed to cross his arms in front of him just in time, sensing the overwhelming energy coming his way.Though he shielded his chest, Ranu’s body was hurled backward nearly twelve steps, crashing into a wall with a resounding impact.Another cough burst from his lips, this time followed by two violent spurts of fresh blood. His breathing grew heavy. Although he had blocked the blow, the impact on his back was sev

The leader of the Sky Sword Sect naturally found it hard to imagine facing two imperial dynasties whose power and might far surpassed that of the Yuan Dynasty. Especially in the Tang Empire, where first-class martial experts resided. At the very least, there were a few warriors whose skills were equal to Ranu’s—or perhaps even greater."That may be so, Elder Wan. Surely we do not wish for those two empires to become our enemies. If they do, then we can only surrender to fate," replied Wei Ho."Only the weak surrender, Elder! As long as I live, I will never allow this land to be ruled by the Dark King. If once I killed the Dark Prince, then I must also be able to kill his father!" Ranu interrupted flatly, his tone pressing with determination."As long as those two dynasties do not interfere with the sovereignty of the Yuan Dynasty, then we need not take any action," Ranu continued.Wei Ho gave a bitter smile at Ranu’s response. He felt ashamed for having spoken wrongly. Despite being f

Day Four: The Beginning of the Black Mist SwordThat morning, the mist in the valley was thicker than usual, as if the mountain were hiding its secrets. Ho Chen stood with his body covered in bruises and scratches. His breath was still heavy, but his eyes no longer wavered as they had in the past few days.Yung San stood a few steps ahead of him, holding a black sword. Its length was modest, but its aura weighed down the very air around them.“This is the Black Mist Sword,” Yung San said softly, yet sharply. “It is not merely a technique—it is a way of life. Mist conceals, mist envelops, mist deceives the eyes of the enemy. But mist also misleads its wielder, should your heart falter.”He raised the sword high, then lowered it with a gentle motion—too gentle to be called an attack, yet the wind born from the blade tore through the mist around them, creating a rift as though the world had split in two.Ho Chen swallowed hard.“The first movement is called the Silent Step. You must vani

That morning, the air in the mountain valley was still veiled in a thin mist. Small birds chirped in the distance, but the beauty of nature could not calm Ho Chen’s restless heart. His chest had been pounding since last night, when Yung San told him that the true training would begin today.“Prepare yourself,” said Yung San early that morning. His voice was cold, leaving no room for refusal.Ho Chen only nodded. He tried to hide the anxiety within him, but cold sweat had already begun to dampen his temples despite the chill in the air.Yung San stood firm upon a large rock, his hands clasped behind his back. His gaze pierced through the mist, as though he could see far beyond the clouded valley. Ho Chen swallowed hard. He realized this training was not merely about honing the body, but also sharpening the soul.“Ho Chen,” Yung San’s voice resounded, calm yet heavy. “Do you wish to become a sword sharp enough to cut through the world’s fog, or just a dull blade that snaps along the way

Yung San smiled, then drew the blade he had just taken from his chamber.“Because I once fought the very same being you will face one day—using this sword, Ho Chen. That is why it rightfully belongs to you.”“But I already have my own sword,” Ho Chen refused.A faint smile returned to Yung San’s lips. “Are you certain your sword will be able to stand against the blade of the Demon King?”Ho Chen raised his eyebrows, confusion and curiosity written all over his face.“The Demon King’s sword as well? What do you mean?”Yung San let out a long breath and closed his eyes for a moment before speaking.“Your burden will be heavier than mine ever was, Ho Chen. The foe I faced was not as powerful as the one you must confront. And as for the Demon King’s sword … somehow, that cursed blade will return with him in his attempt to conquer the world.”“Wait …” Ho Chen scratched his head, baffled.“What I don’t understand is—why is the Demon King’s sword on earth?”“Long ago, in the heavenly war, th

  • Meeting the Sword Deity

The old man straightened his back. “Sit down, don’t just stand there as if you’ve come to collect a debt.”Ho Chen and Yue Qi obeyed his words and sat before him.“My name is Saka,” the old man introduced himself. “You two are still too green, so it is only natural that you underestimate a blind man like me.”Thud! Both Ho Chen and Yue Qi were startled. This Saka could read their thoughts.“Forgive me, Grandfather. I was wrong to think that way about you,” Ho Chen said sincerely.“It is fine. I already said—you are still young and inexperienced. But you must learn this: seeing is not limited to the eyes alone. There are people who see with their inner vision.”Ho Chen lowered his head. Once again, he realized how much of the world he still did not understand.“Enough. Don’t dwell on it,” Saka said. He picked up his wooden staff and planted it in the ground. “As for the Sword Deity—he now resides in a hidden place, a place only I know.”“Forgive us for troubling you, Grandfather,” Ho C
