As Devin's Porsche caroused into the underground garage of the Le Grande villa, several guests trooped into the large, square-shaped auditorium mounted just beside the mansion.

It was Amanda and Luther's wedding, barely three days after she broke up with Devin.

“Why won't this damn car start? I have to drive out to get something for my daughter!” Devin heard Sera's voice as he stepped down from the Porsche.

Her back was turned to him but he couldn't miss the croaking sound of her voice.

“Are you sure you know what the fuck you're doing? Top shot mechanic my ass! If you were so good, this car would be working by now!” She snapped at the gentleman who was fixing the car for her.

Devin sighed while he gazed at them. As he didn't want to interfere, he proceeded to walk to his mansion. But Sera turned around, saw him, and scoffed.

“ Devin? My God! What the fuck are you doing here? You really have no shame! ” Sera snapped as she approached him, clapping her hands in exaggeration.

Devin stopped and turned around to take in her twisted face.

“I’m not in the mood for your bickerings today, Sera. Go back to your mechanic while he fixes your car,” Devin replied to her and turned to leave.

But Sera quickly blocked his path and crossed her arms, her eyes darkening on the spot.

“How dare a church rat like yourself speak to me in that manner? Who the hell invited you to this wedding? This is no place for a poverty-stricken degenerate lowlife like you!” Sera yelled at him.

“What is so hard to understand in the fact that Amanda has dumped your lazy ass? And now you resorted to stalking? How shameless could you be!”

“That’s a big word coming from you. Your daughter is marrying a man old enough to be her father and you're supporting her. Your desperate, sorry self would do anything for some money, even if it means selling off your child to the highest bidder,” Devin shot back at her.

Sera gasped at his audacity. “Motherfucker! Do not speak to me in that manner. Luther is ten times the man you'll ever be in your sorry life!”

“Have you heard yet? Yvonne Hall, the owner of the number 1 luxury building in this Villa specially sent Luther a wedding gift. She approved his request to use this top-class auditorium for the wedding too!”

“Luther dines with the rich and powerful in the society. But what do you do? Louse around like a hopeless beggar, looking for who to stalk! Perhaps I should get you arrested for this insolence!” She screamed at him.

Devin laughed after he listened to her words. Obviously, Luther was playing them for a fool. He had approved their request to use the hall and sent Yvonne to deliver the letter. The money Luther paid was given to charity.

And Devin sent no fucking gifts to Luther. Neither did he instruct Yvonne to do so.

“Wow. I'm so amazed I could piss myself! For someone who prides herself in being 'smart,’ you really are dumb. So dumb that you cannot distinguish reality from deceit,” Devin replied to her and laughed again.

His laughter was like a knife piercing through Sera's heart. She gritted her teeth while she watched him, her chest heaving up and down.

“Go back to your little event, Sera. Be the mother of the bride and enjoy the turmoil that follows. It is what you deserve after all,” Devin dismissed her and turned to leave, but Sera, yet again, blocked his path and attempted to slap him.

Devin caught her hand as anger flashed in his eyes. Sera saw this instant glow of distaste and her heart skipped a beat.

But God forbid her to show she was scared of him!

“You animal! Fucking dirtbag! You dare raise your hand on me? I will make sure you rot in jail for this!” Sera yelled at Devin while he lowered her hand, but she began to squirm.

“Do not test me, Sera!” Devin said in a calm, threatening tone that made Sera whimper.

“Or what? What will you do? Beat me up like you beat up my son? Come on Devin, I fucking dare you! Then you'd spend the rest of your life dining and dancing with pigs in a dungeon!” She kept yelling at him.

With a growl, Devin let go of her hand, and she staggered back, lost her balance,, and fell.

“Ah! Help! Somebody help me! He wants to kill me! Help!!” Sera screamed while she stood to her feet. The mechanic, who had seen everything, quietly left the garage, but as Sera kept shouting, two bouncers ran in.

“Ma'am? What's going on here?” One of the bouncers asked Sera who burst into tears immediately.

“I'm the mother of the bride. This man is an intruder. No one invited him to this wedding yet, here he is. He's my daughter's ex. He just beat me up right now!” She cried out.

The bouncer, furious, turned to Devin.

“Scumbag, show me your invitation, or I'll kick you out of this place!”

“I'm not here for the event anyway. I'm just going home,” Devin replied to the bouncer and Sera gasped

“That's a lie. He has no home here. This fucking street urchin couldn't even afford a shit hole in this place. It's obvious he wants to steal. Kick him out!” Sera quickly protested.

The bouncers nodded in agreement while they glared at Devin's casual gym outfits, convinced he couldn't possibly be a top-shot resident in the villa.

Just then, Sera's phone rang.

“My daughter needs me. Ensure you kick this vermin out of this place. Else, he'll ruin things and it'll be your problem!” Sera added and walked away.

“Time for you to leave, ass-wipe. You should have known better than to sneak into this event,” one of the bouncers said and grabbed Devin's shoulder.

But Devin kicked his hand away and punched him in the face.

“You broke my fucking nose!” The bouncer cried out while the other, furious, charged at Devin.

Devin performed a sweep move and knocked the bouncer off the ground. While he fell with a thud, the other one took out his baton.

“You're dead now!” He yelled and charged at Devin.

Devin quickly disarmed him, kicked him again, and punched him so hard he flew right into a car– a faint yellow wave of energy radiating from Devin's fist.

The bouncer was knocked out immediately.

“Fuck this. I'm outta here!” The other bouncer ran away as he saw the terrifying scene.

Devin exhaled as he walked away from the garage.

He wanted to go home directly, but he forgot that the auditorium was right on his way home.

This means that when he realized it, Luther had already gotten so close that he was right in front of him.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

The shopping mall Klaus picked wasn’t just high end, it was obnoxiously elite. The place was full of chandeliers, glass floors, heavy perfume scents, and workers who looked like they hadn’t blinked since their shift started. Amanda strutted through the entrance in designer sunglasses and a skin tight black dress that screamed. Klaus walked beside her in a navy suit with no tie, chewing gum and looking around like he owned the planet. “This place smells like desperation and overpriced lotion.” Amanda said, turning her nose up at the scent of vanilla and citrus. “It’s not desperation.” Klaus replied, barely glancing at the employees who’d stopped everything to bow their heads. “It’s fear. Fear that we’ll speak.” Amanda smirked. “As we should.” The first boutique they entered had a staff of five, all standing in a perfect line. A blonde salesgirl walked up with an overly fake smile. “Welcome to Odets, madam, sir. May I assist you with—” “No.” Amanda cut her off sharply

Amanda woke up in silk sheets. Yes, actual silk. The kind you’d find in movies or fashion magazines, the kind that she used to enjoy before her life turned to dust, costing way more than people’s rent. She stretched, smiling, and then turned to the side. A gold tray sat beside the bed, stacked with fresh strawberries, warm croissants, and a flute of champagne. A note lay beside the glass, folded neatly. She picked it up to read. -Join me on the terrace when you’re done. – K.- Amanda raised a brow. Klaus. She still didn’t know what his deal was. The man had picked her up from the street when she was done yelling for Devin like a stray dog, but instead of throwing her in a shelter, he brought her to this fucking palace. Who the hell was he even? And what did he want with her? She climbed out of bed and winced a little. Her body still ached, and not just from the rain. Her heart was raw, and her pride was still in pieces from everything that had taken place before then. But to

Devin’s Rolls-Royce pulled smoothly into his private underground parking garage as Dreykov went to open the car door for him. The deal was sealed, the mayor's invite was sitting in the glove box, and Devin had every reason to feel at the top of the world. He got out of the car, loosened his tie, and stretched slightly, smiling. He was about to see his gorgeous woman. “Anything else you need sir?” Dreykov asked. “No, thank you.” “I’ll park the car and be with you shortly.” Dreykov said. Just as Devin was about to head towards the mansion, Viktor came out of nowhere. “You’re late.” Viktor said, folding his arms with a frown on his face. Devin scowled. “How did you just do that? And you’re not my timekeeper.” “You haven’t responded to my last few messages.” Viktor continued. “We need to talk about something urgent.” Devin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “About what, Viktor?” “The portal. It has to be opened, and you need to—” “No. I already t

The boardroom on the top floor of the Stonehenge Conglomerate headquarters was made of pure hard glass and steel, and it had this cold yet elegant vibe, as it was designed to intimidate. Devin sat at the head of the table, looking like a man born to sit on thrones others only dreamed of. And he was in fact, doing that. His grey suit was tailored to perfection, and he wore a satisfied smirk as he flipped through the final page of the contract. Opposite him sat five of the most powerful stakeholders in the international fintech space. Men in their late fifties, who were sharp, greying at the edges, and wearing shoes more expensive than most people’s apartments. One of them, who was a dark skinned man named Elias Vegas, leaned forward. “I have to say, Stone…” Elias started to speak, tapping the edge of the folder with one finger. “When you made this offer two weeks ago, I thought you were a bold little bastard.” Devin looked up calmly. “Really? And now?” Elias smiled. “N

Amanda didn’t know how long she had been walking. Her feet were burning in her heels, and her thighs were very sore from Luther’s roughness, and her pride? Oh that had left her hours ago. The only thing keeping her going now was rage. Blinding, bitter rage, and a bit of hope. Wherever she went, they were always people to call her names and take photos of her. The most pleasant ones were the ones who stopped to stare and whisper, as somehow, they news had gotten round. Amanda was now #1 most hated person in the country. A young man stopped her, staring into her eyes. She tried to walk around him but he still blocked her way. Frustrated, she stomped the ground. “What do you want?” “I want to fuck you.” He said brazenly. “Are you crazy? I’m not a whore!” “Everyone else says otherwise. Or is it money you want?” He asked, waving his card in her face. Amanda groaned as he took a picture of her. “I can goon off to this later.” He was about to side stepped her when in r

Amanda sighed, looking around to see that she was still getting scornful glances. Everyone has rejected her. Society, Luther, and even her own mother. Had she been wrong to kill Steve? If only for a while, she could have— she wished she could change the hands of time, but that was impossible. All she had now was herself. She bent down to pick up her phone and it started to ring immediately. Luther! She gasped when she saw the caller ID, and was about to pick it up when someone bumped heavily into her, throwing her into the ground. “Watch the fucking road!” She screeched. The guy who had pushed her just looked at her scornfully. “I just put you in your place, whore!” “Your mother!” She swore, picking up the phone. “Your sex tape wasn’t even good!” Amanda’s cheeks flared up and she picked up the call. “Hello.” Her voice was as meek as possible. “You bitch! I can’t believe you had the audacity…” Luther was beyond furious. “I can explain, please. That… that wa
