"No way, you still haven't gotten over Amanda? Are you going to go in front of her and cry and beg for forgiveness?" Luther laughed and sized up Devin with a playful look in his eyes.

"Actually, it's not impossible for you to see her if you really insist."

"Enough!" Devin interrupted him. "I'm not here for her. I'm going home!"

Luther burst out laughing as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

"You're still being stubborn, aren't you?"

"Since I'm in a good mood today, I'll let you meet Amanda."

He ordered the bodyguards to take Devin inside.

Devin sighed. "You know what? If I go in, your wedding is going to be ruined for sure."

"Really? What, are you going to mooch off the food and starve everyone else to death?"

"Take him in!" Luther lost all his patience and commanded the bodyguards viciously to drag Devin in.

But when they were met with Devin's cold stare, they somehow didn't dare to lay a hand on him.

"You asked for this," Devin sneered, and then strode in.

"What's with all the posturing?" Luther scoffed. Then his eyes darkened.

"Keep an eye on him. If he dares to cause trouble, make sure he pays dearly for it!"

The auditorium was ablaze with light. Devin spotted from afar a crowd huddled around a massive crystal sculpture. Clearly, it was Luther and Amanda carved on it.

"Goodness, this thing's gotta be worth a mint.”

“Luther's really got connections. Even the big shot who owns the No.1 mansion sent a wedding gift."

"Lucky Amanda, nabbing a guy like that."

The guests whispered among themselves.

Amanda tapped the wine glass, motioning for everyone to be quiet.

"To the owner of the No.1 mansion!"

Devin glared at Amanda with pity, for he knew he hadn't sent Luther any gifts.

Luther lied to Amanda. He lied to everyone.

“What a loser. Faking a gift just to gain prestige,” Devin scoffed.

But then, people-sized Devin up and sneered at Devin as he walked past them. Some of them even covered their noses with their handkerchiefs.

“Who invited this trash dump? Couldn't he dress up properly for a wedding?” He heard someone say from the crowd.

“Perhaps he's a beggar. We get a lot of them in the party these days. Just give him some money and you'll be fine,” another person whispered.

“But this is a top-class wedding. Vermin like him shouldn't be here!”

The argument persisted as Devin sighed, looking for the most insignificant seat in the auditorium. He didn't want to be the center of attention, although it seemed like he couldn't help it.

“Here. Sit with me,” a beautiful lady with dark hair and blue eyes said to Devin.

And when she smiled at him, Devin's heart melted on the spot. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen! Even more beautiful than Amanda.

“Thanks…” Devin replied and sat beside her. She gazed at him curiously.

“My name is Kia. I heard them talking about your outfit. Don't listen to them. You look great,” she said with a smile.

“I'm Devin. And you look even better. I love your eyes,” Devin replied to her, smiling as well.

“Thanks…” Kia blushed at his comment, her face heated up with a blush.

“It's a grand gift, isn't it? The wedding gift. The owner of the number 1 mansion must be a top shot, don't you think?” Kia asked him.

Devin looked at the statue again, and then at Kia. “I doubt the owner of the number 1 mansion has got any time for such frivolous things. It's all a show. Trust me,” Devin responded.

Kia found his certainly curious.

“How do you know—”

“Oh! For fucks sake! Who let this fucking lickspittle into this auditorium?” Jim, Amanda's brother growled as he approached Devin.

Devin settled his darkened gaze on him, but Jim did not back down.

“This is the height of indiscipline. You dare sneak your way into my sister's wedding? Did you think you wouldn't get caught?”

“How stupid and shameless can you fucking be? Why is it so hard to deal with the fact that Amanda has dumped you already? Must you parade your pitiful existence all over the place?” Jim yelled at Devin.

Some guests turned to observe the scene, and Kia flushed with embarrassment while people started looking.

“Why don't you just leave? You're embarrassing this young man for nothing!” Kia shot back at Jim who scoffed while he gazed upon her.

“Bitch! If I want a mouth to suck my dick, I'll call you. You better shut your cum dump or I'll shut it for you!” Jim snapped back at Kia.

But then, Devin rose to his feet.

“Apologize to the lady,” he demanded. Although Devin towered over Jim, the latter tried to hide his intimidation. But Jim took a step back in fear.

“Playing the knight in shining armor now? You think she'll fuck you if you do this? Ha! Not even a pig would want a freaking degenerate like you!”

And then, Devin slapped Jim immediately. The guests gasped as the slap resounded, and Jim himself could swear he couldn't hear a thing afterward!

“Fuck you, motherfucker!” Jim cursed and threw a punch at Devin. But Devin grabbed his hand, kicked him in the belly, and threw him into a roll of seats.

The guests gasped again in shock as Jim landed with a clatter, breaking many of the chairs.

“Devin! What the fuck are you doing at my wedding!!” Amanda suddenly screamed as the commotion shook the auditorium to its core.

    187. The rain was falling like angry needles from the sky. Amanda was crouched behind a pile of cracked cement blocks and broken steel pipes, barely breathing as she peeked toward the old glass plant. She’d followed Viktor here earlier, against her better judgment, and now she was beginning to regret it. Far in the distance, she had see them. Cars, so many of them approaching, and they looked quite dangerous, to say in the least. There were four of them, matte black, and no headlights on. They looked like ghosts in the rain as they came to a stop. Then the doors opened, and armed men got out, looking like a war set. Her eyes widened when the last cars opened. “Shit!” She whispered. What was it with her and getting involved with dangerous men? She knew that face. Devin Stone. Dressed in all black, and looking like he was about to rip the fucking world apart. Behind him, stood Dreykov, and he looked just as cold, and just as dangerous. His men looked like mercenaries stra

Devin got into his study and took a seat, closing his eyes. What was the use of a system upgrade if the one person he wanted to find was able to block themselves? He turned on the screen again, and a blinking bar sat next to a line of text. >Enter Query. Devin took in a deep breath and typed again. >What killed Henry Blake? The screen froze and symbols started to pop up on the screen. Devin was annoyed. “What the fuck is this?” >How to override magic locks? The system started to load, and all of a sudden, his inventory made a sound. He opened it, and saw a large key in one of the sections shining. He selected it and dragged it onto the screen. >Magic Key Detected. Attempting Override... …Bypassing Restrictions... WARNING!!! TRACING FORBIDDEN ZONE!!! HIGH-RISK SPELL IDENTIFIED!!! Then it stopped working. Devin wanted to curse at the world. All of a sudden, a message popped up. >Cause of death: Hexed Nightmare Charm Spell. …Caster: Viktor. Devin’s heart s

Devin didn’t care about what nonsense they warlock was spewing at him here. He didn’t care about what he did or did not do, he was going to get what he came here for. Jareth’s eyes twinkled as he watched Devin carefully, like he was studying a rare creature. The man before him was quite intriguing, and he felt powerful. But Jareth felt he could take him on if it came to it, defeat him even. “I need the necklace.” Devin said simply. Jareth leaned back against the leather armchair behind him with an amused smile playing on his lips. “Everyone needs something, Mr Stone. That’s not how transactions begin.” Devin folded his arms, trying to hold back his irritation. “Alright then. How much?” Jareth started to laugh mine Devin had told him the funniest thing ever. “Y-you want to buy it? You will go bankrupt and have your soul in debt for the rest of eternity if I give you a price.” He wiped off a tear. Devin shrugged slightly. “Money, power, land, whatever you want.

Devin heard a knock on the door. He didn’t look up immediately. He sat on the edge of the large armchair in his private study, his shoulders heavy, and his eyes bloodshot from grief and exhaustion. He tried to keep the fact that he was still broken a secret from everyone else, but had been solitary confined to his room and study. He had had long days of silence and whiskey, and the last person he expected or wanted to see was anyone that wasn’t Kia. He heard another knock. He sighed, irritated. He had explicitly said that he didn’t want to be disturbed. Whatever it was better be damn important. He rubbed his face with his palms, and finally grumbled. “It’s open.” The door opened, and Petra Knight entered inside, dressed in a long, black coat, her hair tucked into a sleek bun. She looked beautiful, but her eyes bore sadness for him. “Petra.” Devin said, surprised. He rose to his feet and shook her hand. “I wasn’t sure if I should come.” She said. “But I had to. I n

The restaurant was nice and pretty, the music was good, and the air smelled really delicious. It as the perfect place to eat, Devin thought. He pulled out a chair for Petra, who smiled and sat down, brushing her curls off her shoulder. “This place is… nice.” She said, looking around. “It’s the only place I could think of that didn’t reek of bad memories.” Devin muttered as he took his seat. “Everything else reminds me of her.” Petra nodded slowly. She didn’t speak right away. Instead, she watched him for a while, watched the way his fingers tapped the table, the way his eyes kept looking anywhere but at her. “You didn’t have to take me out, you know.” She said finally. “I get that you’ve been through more than a rough patch.” “I wanted to, actually.” Devin replied. “You’ve been there for me after everything. I figured I could at least do something decent.” Petra smiled shyly. “Fine. Decent is good.” A waiter came by, took their orders, and poured wine into thei

  • Chapter 183

Amanda had never felt this invisible in her entire life. She was sitting quietly of Viktor’s living room, munching on some food and scrolling through her cracked phone. Viktor had barely spoken to her in two days, let alone offer to get her a new device. No good mornings, no how are yous, and not even his usual smartass comments he would say when they discussed before all of… this happened. He barely looked even at her. The silence wasn’t peaceful, it was suffocating. She dropped the fork and crossed her arms, glaring at the back of his head. He was sitting by the window, reading a thick old book like she didn’t even exist. “You’re ignoring me, aren’t you?” She asked. Viktor didn’t even act like he was being spoken to. “So we’re doing this now?” Amanda snapped. “I’m just some bug you’re waiting to squash?” “No.” Viktor said without looking up. “Bugs at least make noise. You’ve been sulking like a rejected puppy.” Amanda’s jaw clenched. She got up and walked over, sta
