CHAPTER NINETY SIX
Viper's body was still on the floor, blood smeared across his mouth and jaw with cuts all over him. His face was battered, barely recognizable, and his clothes had basically been shredded… to say in the least. His chest rose and fell in a manner that showed that even breathing was painful for him. Devin stood a few feet away, fists clenched at his sides, trying to calm the fire still burning inside him. His breathing was loud in the silence, but his eyes never left the man he’d just crushed. “Tie him up. I want him breathing to question him.” “Yes sir.” Dreykov nodded and motioned to two guards who had made it through the whole chaotic event. One was limping slightly, and the other had a bruised arm, but they obeyed without hesitation. As the men approached with thick ropes and bindings, Viper’s eyes suddenly snapped open. Dreykov noticed it first. “Shit! He’s awake!” He hissed, jumping back. Viper’s head whipped up, blood dripping from his lip, and with one wild, anima
CHAPTER NINETY FIVE
The night was cold as a strong wind moved through the trees that lined the long driveway leading up to Devin’s mansion. But it wasn’t just the weather that carried the chill, no, it was the arrival of something far worse. Something dangerous. Viper stood just beyond the front gates with a wicked grin on his face and madness glowing in his eyes. His veins pulsed with so much power, and his fingers twitched with raw, unstable energy. He opened his palm, staring at the burnt fragment of the scroll he had absorbed hours ago. The power inside him was bubbling, and he felt like a god. His blood was hot and greedy, like it wanted out of system. Like it wanted more blood. "Time to kill a rich boy.” He muttered with a sneer. Viper kicked the gates open. They flew off their hinges like they were made of paper, crashing into the hedges on either side. Inside the mansion, Viktor and Dreykov were already on high alert. “Sir.” Dreykov said, peering out the front window, “we have a p
CHAPTER NINETY FOUR
93. “You animal!” Viper yelled, slamming his hand into the bathroom door, creating a big hole and ripping the whole thing out when he removed his hand. Amanda gasped, her eyes wide in shock as she fell back to the ground. “Who were you talking to?” Viper yelled in fury. Amanda shook her head, tears pouring out of her eyes. “N-no one, I only love you.” She stammered. “Are you calling me stupid?” He moved towards her, picking her up by the neck. “I… would… never!” She choked out, turning red. “Not anymore you wouldn’t!” She threw her on the ground. She hit the floor flat on her back, all air knocked out of her. Viper pounced on her and tore her jeans off, pulling her closer to him. Amanda started to cry harder. “No! Please, anything else! No!” A hand landed sharply on her face. “You don’t get to tell me no. You only exist because I allow you to!” Amanda held her face, flinching in fear. “Say it!” He screamed. “I only exist because you allow me to.” S
CHAPTER NINETY THREE
“Yeah, that’s what’s going on. I’m going to be done with all that stuff real soon.“ Amanda sat cross-legged across Viper, unable to keep her eyes from him. It wasn’t as if she was fascinated by him or something like that, rather, it was the opposite. Viper was a fucking menace, and she regretted every moment spent with him. “Oh prison? Yeah boy, just some shit I gotta take care of. You know that’s my home.” He guffawed. Amanda frowned in disgust. What kind of human would say such a thing? Not like she even saw him as a human being to begin with. Viper cut the call, chuckling. He got up and gave her a kiss on the lips, grabbing her by the neck. “You are so beautiful.” He said after he broke the kiss off. “Our kids are going to be great. I want a daughter with your eyes and body.” Amanda blinked back, smiling uncomfortably. “Why are you silent now? Don’t you want us to have a daughter too?” He raised an eyebrow. He was getting upset. She didn’t want that, to say in th
CHAPTER NINETY TWO
91. "Kia!" Devin's voice carried through the warehouse. His eyes were locked on the gun pressed to her head. His entire body screamed to move, to act, to kill, but he waited. The Boogeyman grinned beneath his cracked mask, the weapon still aimed at Kia's temple. "Should I pull the trigger?" He whispered mockingly. "Just one little squeeze, and boom, problem is solved!" Kia whimpered, her eyes filled with fear and pain. "Devin... please—" "Let her go!" Devin growled. "You bloody bastards have no idea of what you're doing." The Boogeyman laughed, taking a few steps closer to Kia. "Oh, but I do. I'm doing exactly what I came here for." "I swear on my life—" Devin began, but he didn't finish. Because the gun moved away from her head. It shifted, just a little, just enough. In that split second, Devin acted. He didn't think or bother to breathe. He just moved lightning fast. A line of silver light burst from his palm, energy so strong it cracked the concrete und
CHAPTER NINETY ONE
-We have Kia. Come alone or she dies.- Devin was frozen in one spot in the conference room. He couldn't speak, or blink even. Slowly, he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. Around him, the board members were still talking about the money, and whatnot, but Devin wasn't with them at the moment. Dreykov noticed the change in his boss' face. He went up to him. "Sir?" Devin didn't look at him. "We have to end the meeting now." "What?" "Now." "Yes sir." Devin snapped the briefcase shut, turned, and walked out of the room without another word. "Wait, we're taking it!" "We're sorry, are you offended?" "We humbly beg for you to reconsider!" The board members called after him, asking all questions, but Devin didn't respond. "Sir, what is it? What happened?" Dreykov asked, worried. Devin stopped near the elevator, turned, and handed Dreykov the phone. The moment Dreykov read the message, his body stiffened. "Who the fuck dared to send this to

Kia stood in line at the coffee shop with her phone in one hand, and her purse slung lazily across her shoulder. The day was too quiet, if she was honest. Ever since the attack on Devin, things had been tense. But today, she had escaped her guards by saying she wanted to use the ladies and used that to escape. She took in a deep breath. The sun was out, and nothing had exploded. Yet. "Kia?" A warm voice said behind her. She turned around slowly. The man who had spoken had a gentle smile, his suit crisp, dark gray with a blue tie, and a dimple on one cheek when he smiled. His face was familiar, though she couldn't place where she had seen it before. "Do I know you?" She asked, cautious. He chuckled, light and disarming. “Perhaps you don’t remember, but we bumped into each other last month. I'm Ronan Gray." Lies. She raised a brow in disbelief. “Really? How come you’re here?" "Just running errands, then I saw you. Wanted to say hi. You look... incredible." Ki
CHAPTER EIGHTY NINE
Devin stood, watching the rain slide down the glass. His arms were crossed, and his face was set in a stern look and his fists were tightly clenched. He hadn’t slept properly ever since he got the last attack. Dreykov stood behind him, quiet and alert as always, but even his stance had changed slightly, as the man was more tense than usual. “You’ve not said anything since we’ve stood here.” Devin said suddenly, not turning. Dreykov cleared his throat. “Yes sir. I’m just keeping my ears sharp and making sure I’m alert. You never know who’s listening anymore.” Devin turned slowly to face him. “Do you think they’ll try that nonsense again?” “Pardon me, sir, but they didn’t come for tea the first time.” Dreykov said, stepping forward. “They came to kill you, it seems. And since they failed, they’ll want to finish the job, that’s how these things work, sir.” A knock came at the door before Devin could answer. He didn’t move. Dreykov walked over, opened it slightly, the
