He turned sharply to Mrs. Augustine, his voice firm and demanding, “Did you offend Mr. Mancini?”

A wave of panic washed over her face as cold sweat formed on her brow. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. She stood frozen, trembling under the weight of his gaze.

“I asked you a question,” he continued, his tone growing colder. “Are you deaf? Did you say anything to Mr. Mancini?”

Before she could stammer out a reply, Asher stepped in, his voice calm but laced with steel. “You don’t need to ask, just look at her. She insulted me more than once, and treated me like I didn’t belong here.”
