“Tear him apart, I want him in pieces,” Bernard growled.

Logan’s face turned icy as he stared at Asher with murderous intent. “You are asking for death, kid. You are the bastard who touched my son and left him in this state. You’ll feel every ounce of the pain you gave him.”

Asher frowned and replied coldly, “You should have taught your son how to behave in public and respect women.”

Bernard quickly replied, “Dad, he is a liar, I didn’t do anything. I was only trying to have a conversation with her, but he came and hit me and my friends. You can ask Kelly, if you think I am lying.”

“There is no need to explain, son. This man is nothing but dead meat before me.”

Asher didn’t utter a word. He had expected it, like a father, like a son. The arrogance, the coldness, the pride, the same blood flowed in their veins.

“You should have done what I instructed, now I will make sure I break those legs of yours and make sure you die a slow death,” Logan uttered.

“I will give you a choice: you let

His palms went slick with sweat. Elvis could feel his shirt clinging to his back, his chest heaving like he had run a marathon. Elvis knew he had not authorised any transaction. He knew he hadn’t touched the joint account in weeks. And yet the money, his hard-earned security, his leverage, had vanished as though sucked into a black hole. His first thought was fraud. A hack. Some faceless thief in another country is bleeding him dry. But then, like a blade through the haze of confusion, a darker, more personal suspicion cut through. His wife.Elvis took to the corner of the room. He hesitated, bile rising in his throat. He dialled her number, ignoring the looks from his friends, his fingers stumbling across the keypad. The phone rang only once before she answered, her voice too casual, too bright.“Elvis darling!” she chirped. The sound was a dagger to his chest. He didn’t waste time on greetings. His voice erupted raw, almost unrecognisable. “Where is the money?”A pause. The silenc

  • Chapter 231 - Money Gone

“Hahahah!” Elvis chuckled, “Asher, what makes you think that will be possible. Stop bluffing, I am the one who arranged for this gathering, so your coming wasn’t part of it. You should be grateful you got some free food and drink.”Murmurings and whispers filled the hall, as the other friends talked amongst themselves. Asher wasn’t concerned about who organised the event; the only reason he had come was because of Chris’s invitation. He could not possibly ignore Chris. But he was expecting Elvis and his friends to act maturely and not taunt another person because they felt they were better.“You know you are such a bully, and people like you don’t deserve a place in the society!” Asher muttered.Elvis glared disdainfully at Asher, “Whoever doesn’t have money should not be invited to any gathering. What if we decided to do some fundraising? Will you be able to cough up a hundred thousand dollars, or will he?”At this time, Asher frowned before he said. “Okay, then, if that’s the case,

  • Chapter 230 - Let's Eat

If Dustin had been smart and had stayed in his lane, Asher wouldn’t have bothered him. However, Dustin had spoken out and faced a more embarrassing moment than Elvis. It wouldn’t have been less painful if it had happened in a private place but Asher had already dealt with him in public.Just when he thought no one knew his story, or anything related to him, Asher revealed it before Dustin’s friends.“Guys, the food is here. Let’s eat!” Chris called out.Although he noticed the ugly expression on Dustin’s face and he didn’t bother asking. Both had never been good friends; it was Elvis’ idea that Dustin get invited. However, both Elvis and Dustin couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that was bubbling beneath each time they stared at Asher, who kept a calm demeanor. At the table, the servers helped dish out the food to everyone without hesitation.Just when Asher was about to take a bite. Elvis glared at him, and Whisper. “Why are you in a hurry? Don’t you get served a meal where you came

  • Chapter 229 - Humiliated Dustin

Asher’s expression shifted; he hadn’t expected Dustin to be friends with Chris. If he didn’t already know Chris, he might have assumed Chris had been paid just to bring him along.“Dustin, you’ve missed quite a lot,” one of the men, Zion, remarked.Zion, the most talkative and energetic among them, wasted no time before blurting out everything that had transpired between Elvis and Asher.Elvis sighed in annoyance. “Don’t mind him, I was only trying to help. He is just too embarrassed to admit he was poor and jobless.”“That’s enough, Elvis. We have talked about this before. We want a good atmosphere.” Chris countered.Dustin moved to join his friends, though his eyes never left Asher. He kept his gaze fixed, biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.Brandy then turned to Dustin, “Where have you been? It’s been a long time.”Dustin nodded. “I’ve been caught up with work. There’s a new project I’m handling. I was actually supposed to meet with Mr. Ricardo Gallo today, b

  • Chapter 228 - Come Work for me!

“Working for someone in a florist store is hard, you don’t earn much. Your salary can’t even buy my child a pair of shoes.” Elvis taunted.“Why don’t I offer you a job to be my driver, that’s if you know how to drive. I will pay you five thousand monthly, that’s good for a start, what do you think?”The other friend laughed again and nodded. Almost in the midst of friends, Elvis seemed to be the richest. So he was given his respect. In a gathering where a man who recently got promoted, with a few hundred thousand as a monthly salary was the richest, it means they were nothing before the man they were laughing at. Asher frowned, he had been used to being taunted. He had gone through worse from his ex-wife and her family members. Not only did he not feel sad but he felt Elvis was only being childish.“Elvis, you should respect Mr. Mancini.” “Stop calling him that, Chris. You heard him, you are even better than him. Why show him some respect like he is some billionaire or from a rich f

Asher arrived at Chris’s restaurant that morning, and he was a little surprised by how things had changed at the restaurant; the entrance looked different from what he had last seen.In fact, what surprised him even more was the change inside, how he had redesigned everything, including the seat. Asher couldn’t help but sigh softly. At this time, he had a gift with him which he brought for Chris’s son. Immediately, he walked inside, and he saw Chris with a few of his friends, all seated and having fun. Chris, without hesitation, ambled toward Asher with a smile on his face, “Mr. Mancini, you are welcome. Please, come join us. Those are my friends, I will introduce you to them.”Asher had wanted to decline, but he shrugged.
