After Robert dropped the call, Orion asked him "What does a red zone mean and why is the Silvermist mountains getting marked as one? It is close by and has always been safe" Orion asked.

"I expected the Silvermist mountains would get marked sooner or later, already warned the residents to evacuate earlier." Robert said with a sigh.

"A red zone means humans can't live close there, it's totally unhabitable right now and anyone who goes there has little to no chance of returning alive." Robert said then relaxed his back into the swivel chair.

"It all started five days ago, about 2pm or so, a surge was reported to have passed through the Earth's surface, it touched everything and everyone." He sat up and placed his hands on the table.

"Take it as a sort of mutation everyone passed through, most just adapted to it and passed through it unaffected just like us, those you see dead on the internet or around you couldn't withstand the effect and we're twisted from the inside out."

"Does it mean there's no cure for it?" Orion asked.

"There's none, at least none I've seen, it doesn't have any methods of spreading or symptoms. After all, it's not even a disease in the first place." Robert said twirling round on his chair.

"I could've also died and it would be the same as the random commoner on the streets, there's no exception."

"Then why is the Silvermist mountains getting marked as a danger zone?" Orion asked with a confused look on his face but deep inside he was going extremely anxious. After all, his parents were living close to the Silvermist mountains.

"The evolution happened to everything and everyone on the globe, including animals and even plants. This is top class others don't have but, apart from the normal humans and those who died there are two other categories of people who survived the surge."

Orion listened and could already guess a few things.

"Some devolved into mindless like beasts, losing their mind because of the impact to their brains but they survived with twisted body parts and structure making them either weaker than normal humans, some unable to even move while some gain extraordinary abilities but are not considered humans again but mindless humans."

"The last category, are called the successful mutants, only a very small portion of the human population were able to do it but each one of them gained abilities beyond the normal human body, all of them vary and the categories apply to other animals and plants also. Some died out, some devolved, some remained untouched, some evolved."

"I've received reports of wolves as big as a car, tigers with wings and even rats as big as adult cats. The Silvermist mountains span a long area with several mountain peaks and forests bordering several three cities, with a huge variety of animals inside, it's inevitable the beasts inside the mountains would be a huge source of threat now." Robert said with a sigh.

"We all expected it to be very honest."

"If they expected it then why didn't they seal it off since." Orion asked.

"Before dealing with the commotion of the beasts, we have to resolve the one within us first, all the forces are deployed trying to stop the commotion and the devolved humans across the country, then we'll think about the mountains and forests. It's mainly up to the higher-ups though, I don't really have a say in this matter. It could be more than this but this is all I know for now." Robert said with his hands behind his head, staring at "Lucien".

"Then why leave the commoners in the dark, they should at least know what's killing them." Orion said almost getting agitated.

Robert raised an eyebrow when he heard this then placed his hands on the table. "What exactly got into you today Lucien? The sudden change, the questions."

'Shit, Lucien would definitely not ask these questions.' Orion thought with a sudden panic.

"They can't tell the commoners for now, it'll only cause more panic than needed especially when it's an incurable disease, after the effect is gone and settled then the government can release it but for now, there's no need for it." Robert explained while keeping an eye on Orion.

"Any questions?"

"I don't think I have any left for now, I'll take my leave father." He said then stood up, took his briefcase then left the office.

After Orion left the office, Robert's eyes changed and he dialed a number "Hello Alex, I saw someone with my son's appearances come to my office for information just now and I'm ninety five percent sure it's not Lucien, I think a rogue mutant is on the loose."

--------------------------------------------------

Orion left the office and walked out of the city hall, planning to return to the Alley then change back when he suddenly heard someone calling.

"Lucienn!!!" Orion turned his head back only to see Jessica Jerry's ex-girlfriend running towards him.

'Well here I was planning on having revenge for my buddy later and she walks right into me' Orion thought while smiling.

'This will be fun.'

Meanwhile, in the city's northern district, Alex and four other men entered a black sedan with electric batons equipped.

"I just contacted the security personnel of the city hall and they're keeping an eye on the supposed governor's son, our objective is simple, watch over him and don't let him escape till we find a secluded place to capture him then we'll take him in for interrogation and figure out if he's the governor's son or not." Alex said then dropped the call and looked into the sedan's mirror.

What stared back at him were deep blue eyes crackling with sparks of electricity. After the mass mutation five days ago, mutants began appearing over the world with strange abilities and while some stayed undercover or joined the security force, a large portion joined the underworld and crime rate increased significantly, different unexplainable raids or phenomenas were occuring making their already hard job of maintaining the current broken society even harder than before.

"Another one of these rogue mutants causing trouble everywhere when we have enough on our hands already." He said with anger evident in his face.

  • Ambush?

"Josh, behind you!" The sudden alarm made his body tense, adrenaline pulsing through his veins as he performed a swift barrel roll, dodging over to the trees to take cover.~~squeak~~ ~~squeak~~A little rabbit poked it's head out of the dense covers, it's eyes fixated on the soldiers."A rabbit." His tensed body relaxed, the rabbit was barely a feet long it couldn't pose any sort of harm towards the team."Don't move out alone, this forest gives off creepy vibes, any small mistake and we'll be mowed by a truck sized bear.""S-013 vision!""All clear, you can proceed." "Understood, move out." ---"What do you mean all the beasts suddenly vanished?" Alaster asked with a frown on his face."A short while ago the teams reported the same occurrence to the command center 'beasts suddenly vanishing from sight'" "I instructed the team to increase awareness and watch out for potential ambushes but nothing was found, all the beasts in the outer zone vanished." The deputy general said wit

  • Taking Down The Outer Zone 1

12:00pm Over a thousand soldiers stood upright before the forward base, each of them divided into different units. The light soldiers with assault rifles, sidearms, grenades and other close combat weapons attached, assigned as the Frontline of the charge. The snipers were fewer in numbers but each of them were armed with snipers to take down enemies from hundreds of meters away along with reconnaissance drones for scouting. The third units were called the suppressors, armed with heavy machine guns, their main duty was to be on standby and open fire when ordered to, a combined assault from this unit would wreck down a portion of the mountain itself. The last unit were the heavy long distance support troops, armed with rocket launchers and rocket propelled grenades {RPGs}Alaster stood on a platform hurriedly made by the soldiers, he nodded with a look of satisfaction on his face."Do you all remember my order?!" "Take down the Silvermist mountains within the next 72 hours!!" The sold

  • The Advance Order

"They don't act like mindless beasts anymore, they have a sense of purpose behind their actions, it's more like they're an entirely new specie, new life forms birthed into existence." "We'll figure everything out as we advance, by tomorrow we'll move." Damion said with a smirk on his face."I am quite curious about what you mentioned also, I'm in." "I never said you had a choice." Aeric had a wide grin on his face as he turned to face Vincent who still remained silent."You're coming with me also."---Two days laterAeric walked across the small camp at the foot of the mountain, watching the soldiers march round the camp filled with endless vigor. The efficiency of the soldiers was really frightening, they managed to set up a suitable forward base within a single day, even cleared out all the tier 1 beasts roaming on the periphery of the mountain."The army lives up to it's name I'll admit, if only the battle wasn't in this dense forest we would win easily." Damion said beside Aeri

  • The Source

In a village located at the foot of the mountains near Cyberis, Damion stood with arms crossed watching the army organize themselves, creating a temporary base and supply center for the fleet to march into the mountains by the next day.Because of the dense forests even tanks couldn't be used, they had to rely on foot troops armed with guns, rocket launchers and bombs to carry out the siege."If the terrain was a bit more favourable this battle wouldn't be a source of concern, but they have all the advantage in this situation." Damion thought while watching the troops passing by.Vincent stood silently nearby without a word, he only watched the soldiers passing by with an expressionless look on his face.'How do they even expect this operation to work out? Bullets don't work against even tier 1 beasts anymore, only a few would actually be affected by bullets, this doesn't look optimistic to me no matter how much I try to reason with it, it's like throwing away the lives of the soldier

  • Robert's Despair

"The offensive forces are split into four fleets based on the four closest cities to the mountains, Cyberis in the eastern side, Arizona to the North, Raylen to the West and Godora to the South. After we take control of the outer zone we will set up a temporary camp and advance towards the inner zone where the four forces will link up and take down the core zone." "The president wants the war to end within a week or two at most, this will be a blitz attack and we'll take down the Silvermist mountains as soon as possible." Eric nodded his head with a smile "I trust with your competent capabilities the mission would be completed with a breeze, it can't be that bad it's just a bunch of beasts living up in the mountains right?" "If it were just a "bunch" of beasts we wouldn't be having this meeting, we won't have to organize a fleet to surround the forest on all sides and the government won't get involved in this whole mess, I'll prefer it if you all take this very serious." Eric imm

  • Relocation To Arizona

Orion gasped for air, taking in short deep breaths, the sudden Influx of information took him by surprise he couldn't react to it at once he almost passed out on the spot."What.. was that?" Even though he tried to peep into it's memories the sudden Influx was enough to drown him in an instant. He stood up with wobbly legs and trogged back to the town leaving behind the dead wolf who lay on the ground with blank eyes.----"Brother!""Brother!!"Orion opened his eyes with a reluctant gaze in his eyes staring at his younger sister who was crouching beside his bed."Kass, what's wrong? I'm still feeling sleepy don't disturb me." Orion said then pulled his blanket over his head without another word."Wake up! Mother's calling you downstairs, you've had enough sleep already." "Fine, I'll come over." "Mother wants to to come over, Now!" Kass said with a quick pull on his cloth."Okay I've heard, I'm up." "Better, I'll be waiting downstairs!" Kass said with her tongue stuck out in jest.
