"Orion, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?”
“Why? Is something wrong?” Rolling his eyes in sarcasm, Jerry looked at Orion and said, “Why wouldn’t something be wrong when the greatest class boycotter suddenly starts coming to classes?” “Out with it. What did you come for? I’m sure you didn’t come just to listen to the old man’s class.” “Calling your revered lecturer an old man, you’ve got guts.” “Okay, I'll be honest. I came here to ask for your help.” “My monthly allowance is finished. I’m broke.” Twitching his lips, Orion said, “I’m not here to ask for cash. I just need your help for a few minutes.” Looking at Orion in suspicion, Jerry said, “Are you sure?” “Seriously? I’m not here to ask for money, bro. Just a few minutes of your time, that’s all.” “Alright then. Hope you’re not thinking of collecting my blood?” "Why would I need your blood?" "To sell it of course, I know what you'll do for money Orion." “Honestly man, stop the jokes. I’m being serious here.” “Okay, what should I do then?” “Follow me.” Orion turned around, moved to a secluded area of the theatre then sat down while keeping an eye on Jerry. “Alright, what’s this all about bro? You’re really starting to get creepy.” “I learnt something interesting about a human’s pulse yesterday, so I’m trying to experiment on it.” “What did you learn?” Jerry asked with a frown on his face. “None of your business.” “Hey, hey, don’t be so angry now. Don’t worry, it won’t take long. I’m only trying to check your pulse.” “If you’re only interested in checking my pulse, why are you making it so creepy then?” This time Orion didn’t reply and only stretched out his hand. Helpless, Jerry could only comply and stretch out his hand, knowing full well Orion didn’t mean any harm to him, they had been friends for years after all. At this point, Orion’s heartbeat increased as he took Jerry’s hand, taking in a deep breath, he stared at Jerry's hand with such intensity it felt like he was about to bore a hole through it. After looking at it closely, he could see additional shades of red color beneath the obvious blue color, but it seemed the blue color had overshadowed it so much that the red color barely seemed to exist at all. Looking even closer, he could see the shades of blue and red colors swirling deep in Jerry’s body and intertwining like there was a thin thread connecting each of them together as one. Subconsciously, he looked back at his own hand and found out that while his outer shade had different colors intertwining, that was only on the surface. There was no real connection between them and in this case they only existed to cover the real core inside. Deep inside, after the myriad of colors, everything was a deep shade of black and everything remained stationary without any movement, a stark contrast to the vibrant colors swirling and intertwining in Jerry’s. A deep frown surfaced on Orion’s face as he tried to make sense of what was happening when one of the black clusters on his finger rushed out toward Jerry’s finger. He almost threw Jerry's hand away in shock but the thought of what would happen if they couldn't return stopped him. With his heart beating rapidly he watched the black balls take on the exact color in Jerry's hands then return to his fingertips. In a panic, he dropped Jerry’s hand and looked as the black little balls in his finger change colors to blue and a light shade of red, the same as the one that returned from Jerry then connect to the other little balls that had also changed colors. At that moment, he couldn’t make sense of anything that was happening when suddenly his hand started changing form, becoming a bit slender and his fingers making cracking sounds as they grew longer. Witnessing this sight, he got the greatest fright of his life, he hurriedly glanced at Jerry, figured out he was not looking, as he was still disoriented since Orion had thrown his hand away in shock earlier. Using the opportunity, Orion kept his right hand in his pocket and looked up at Jerry. “Hey bro, what was that for?” Smirking, Orion said, “A prank.” “You’re getting weirder these days. Did you get another rejection?” “Nope, I have something to do. Bye.” Without wasting another moment, he waved his normal left hand and left at what seemed like a normal pace, but in his heart he was panicking so much he felt his heart could jump out of his chest. ‘That hand… it’s definitely Jerry’s.’ Moving out of the hall, he removed his hand from his pocket for a moment and checked it again before returning it and affirming with a rapidly beating heart. ‘I held his hand, then the black balls copied his colors and turned my hand into the same shape.’ ‘It seems only the part that came into contact with him changed form without affecting the rest.’ He hurried his steps and rushed out of school to the bus stop, then checked his hands again. ‘It’s changing back to the normal black but it’s taking time and will be back to normal soon, but this ability… isn’t it shape-shifting? Or is it something else?" ‘I need to get home soon. Yes, take it one step at a time.’ Saying this, he got on the next bus to his hostel.Latest Chapter
Hive Minds (1)
A huge black panther sprinted across the forest, dodging the hail of bullets raining down on it, it's speed was insane enough, it's defence even crazier. It tanked the bullets head on as it rushed towards the formation."Step back incoming RPG!" "BOOOOOOM!!!" A missle rammed onto the panther with reckless abandon, blasting a hole through it's torso, limbs and pieces of organ flailing about aimlessly."A tier 2 panther, and it looks like it's in a pack, we're surrounded!" A soldier reported after checking the reconnaissance from the drones."Just a bunch of tier 2 panthers?" Joel asked with a calm tone despite his rapidly beating heart."Not just panthers, we're surrounded by packs of them all, bears, wolves, tigers, jackals, hyenas and even cobras, I can also sight some eagles flying above." The soldier reported, panic evident on his face.Bang! "You're telling me all the beasts suddenly gathered together and launched an attack on us from all sides? At the same time? Without fighti
The Attack On Arizona
The Arizona fleet was led by Joel, the general stationed at Arizona along with Ames the captain of the fifth special force squad. They marched through the outer zone with ease, suffering zero casualties, only a few were wounded and sent back to the forward base for treatment.By dusk a camp was set with soldiers patrolling round the camp, in one of the larger tents the fifth special force squad were holding an urgent meeting."Is that the newbie?" A man with blonde hair asked, gesturing towards Orion who sat silently."Yeah, pay some respect, I heard he's tier 3!" A girl said with a hint of excitement in her voice."You know he can hear your words right?" The two fell silent with an awkward look on their faces. Orion sat beside, staring at the ground without a word.'Why are they staring at me? This feels so awkward, maybe I should use the psychic guys form to gain some sort of confidence.' Orion thought while waiting for Ames who called them over.A few minutes later Ames walked int
Ambush?
"Josh, behind you!" The sudden alarm made his body tense, adrenaline pulsing through his veins as he performed a swift barrel roll, dodging over to the trees to take cover.~~squeak~~ ~~squeak~~A little rabbit poked it's head out of the dense covers, it's eyes fixated on the soldiers."A rabbit." His tensed body relaxed, the rabbit was barely a feet long it couldn't pose any sort of harm towards the team."Don't move out alone, this forest gives off creepy vibes, any small mistake and we'll be mowed by a truck sized bear.""S-013 vision!""All clear, you can proceed." "Understood, move out." ---"What do you mean all the beasts suddenly vanished?" Alaster asked with a frown on his face."A short while ago the teams reported the same occurrence to the command center 'beasts suddenly vanishing from sight'" "I instructed the team to increase awareness and watch out for potential ambushes but nothing was found, all the beasts in the outer zone vanished." The deputy general said wit
Taking Down The Outer Zone 1
12:00pm Over a thousand soldiers stood upright before the forward base, each of them divided into different units. The light soldiers with assault rifles, sidearms, grenades and other close combat weapons attached, assigned as the Frontline of the charge. The snipers were fewer in numbers but each of them were armed with snipers to take down enemies from hundreds of meters away along with reconnaissance drones for scouting. The third units were called the suppressors, armed with heavy machine guns, their main duty was to be on standby and open fire when ordered to, a combined assault from this unit would wreck down a portion of the mountain itself. The last unit were the heavy long distance support troops, armed with rocket launchers and rocket propelled grenades {RPGs}Alaster stood on a platform hurriedly made by the soldiers, he nodded with a look of satisfaction on his face."Do you all remember my order?!" "Take down the Silvermist mountains within the next 72 hours!!" The sold
The Advance Order
"They don't act like mindless beasts anymore, they have a sense of purpose behind their actions, it's more like they're an entirely new specie, new life forms birthed into existence." "We'll figure everything out as we advance, by tomorrow we'll move." Damion said with a smirk on his face."I am quite curious about what you mentioned also, I'm in." "I never said you had a choice." Aeric had a wide grin on his face as he turned to face Vincent who still remained silent."You're coming with me also."---Two days laterAeric walked across the small camp at the foot of the mountain, watching the soldiers march round the camp filled with endless vigor. The efficiency of the soldiers was really frightening, they managed to set up a suitable forward base within a single day, even cleared out all the tier 1 beasts roaming on the periphery of the mountain."The army lives up to it's name I'll admit, if only the battle wasn't in this dense forest we would win easily." Damion said beside Aeri
The Source
In a village located at the foot of the mountains near Cyberis, Damion stood with arms crossed watching the army organize themselves, creating a temporary base and supply center for the fleet to march into the mountains by the next day.Because of the dense forests even tanks couldn't be used, they had to rely on foot troops armed with guns, rocket launchers and bombs to carry out the siege."If the terrain was a bit more favourable this battle wouldn't be a source of concern, but they have all the advantage in this situation." Damion thought while watching the troops passing by.Vincent stood silently nearby without a word, he only watched the soldiers passing by with an expressionless look on his face.'How do they even expect this operation to work out? Bullets don't work against even tier 1 beasts anymore, only a few would actually be affected by bullets, this doesn't look optimistic to me no matter how much I try to reason with it, it's like throwing away the lives of the soldier
