The Unexpected Episode 3.

Nora Lee is a very caring person when it comes to her family. Her three kids and her husband are her world. She made it clear to her children that she was not always from a middle class home but that of a low class and she had to work her ass off just to get to this stage of her life where she could now live a comfortable life with her family.

So now she expects her kids to do even better than both her and her husband by aiming for a living as a First class citizen of Japan.

With the argument that had just transpired between her and her son she then decided to let Gabriel go rest.

"Alright now go up to your room and have your bath. Dinner is going to be ready in a few and also try taking  care of that garbage tomorrow. You know your dad and your elder sister would be back tomorrow and it wouldn't be nice if they had to see all that mess"

‘Wait, did she just covertly say my room is garbage?’ Gabriel wondered as he glanced at his mom through the corners of his eyes to see the grin she had on her face it as she went back to continue her kitchen work, leaving him to his devises. ‘So she did mean it’

...And just like that the whole night went by peacefully with Half of the family having dinner and going to bed.

Gabriel went back to school the next day. School was pretty much normal even in this particular year of 2500. It’s was the normal boring everyday chores taking place to mass produce workers for different industries.

‘Another boring day in a boring place.’

Gabriel walked down the hallway of his high school which was flooded with other students who were all currently doing their own thing, some were standing and talking with friends while some were walking to their class too and as usual some were also making out, Besides there will always be horny teenagers that can’t stop themselves from kissing in the hallway.

“Gabriel!!”

His name was heard from a scream just behind him. Only from the voice, he could very well tell who this person is.

Still he had to turn around to look at the mischievous bastard.

“Hey slow down will you. You’re running like a person who’s chasing ass”

Gabriel immediately said to John who was already trying to put a stop to his sprint like a driver stepping on his brakes.

“Hey fool if I was chasing ass I definitely won’t be chasing yours. Besides...Oh my god! Don’t tell me you’ve been into me ever since? Don’t tell me you like me? I mean is my ass safe?!”

John fired back while gesturing like he was currently looking at himself like a gold in a girly manner.

“Okay okay okay it’s enough. You win. Don’t irritate me this morning”

   

“Hahahaha sorry bro but you’re not my type.”

John is a 16 year old average height kid. He is just a year older than Gabriel. He has short blonde hair with a regular body physique.

Gabriel had been best friends with John since his third grade although John was the oldest person between both of them, it didn’t actually seem like that. He had a nature of behaving like the youngest due to his playful personality.

“So you really did skip school yesterday. I have to commend you, you’re one bad ass given the fact that you have strict parents” Said John.

“Actually my mom caught me”

“Oh shit. How are you even still alive?”

“1 week Grounded bro no Television, no phone and no going out”

“Oh wow such cheap punishment your mom must’ve really been in a good mood”

At this moment John could not help himself from chuckling away. Since he and Gabriel has been friends for a very long time now he knows Gabriel’s mom very well. John knows she has a strict nature. Even John, himself is not excluded from getting punished by her if he does something wrong. It’s like this because he is very close with Gabriel, it’s as if he’s even a family to Gabriel.

“Hey forget about the punishment something happened yesterday“

Upon hearing the word incident John’s eyes became narrowed to the slit as he drew in closer to Gabriel like a person ready to hear a gossip trend.

At this moment his tone could only convey intense curiosity. “Okay what happened?”

“I met Machia Ontario yesterday at Makos bar”

“Machia ontario?”

Gabriel went on to completely unfold the whole incident with Machia Ontario to John.

“Oh shit you really did punch Machia Ontario? Man...Now I’m beginning to think that you’re f*cked up! What the hell were you thinking?”

John exclaimed right after hearing the whole story.

“Hey quiet your voice a little”

John went on to keep speaking out his own opinion to Gabriel. “You should have already given up and accepted that you’re a regular human by now besides your sister is the only one who’s going to be having powers in your household so accept it.”

“Come on bro. There are other households with more than one powered human kid even if it’s rare, they still exist and beside I’m not yet 16.”

“Bro you’re gonna be 16 in the next 4 days!What makes you think that your power is going to miraculously show up before then?”

“As you just said John 4 days from now, a lot can happen in 4 days. I might even die within this remaining 4 days so don’t give me that shit!”

“...”

Gabriel said with a gritted teeth.  He quickly noticed himself already getting tensed up and tried to calm himself down by closing his eyes and taking a deep breath in that second. This is an argument he’s already beginning to get tired of. He is not prepared to talk about the facts that makes him a regular human today.

Gabriel spoke calmly in a more sullen tone.“Okay enough I have 4 days to get my powers and that’s it. Let’s just change the topic I don’t need another Naysayer right now”

“Okay okay chill bro you got 4 days.”

John sighed and didn’t say anything about the topic of super ability again.

As if to change the subject John mouth started to bob up and down again. "Well, you're one bad ass man and besides...Wait! Your sister is going to be back today right?"

"Yes I'm expecting to see her and my dad back home after school"

Gabriel replied to John while trying to look very relaxed manner as if he didn't care but his body's expression was currently saying a different story beside even John knew Gabriel got along really well with his sister because he loved the path she had taken to enter the Demons Battle. Not many boys his age could say they admired their older sisters the way he did.

"Well you know what? I'm escorting you home today and I'm going to have dinner at your place. Besides, I think I'm going to confess my love to your sister today."

John declared in a rather mischievous tone. It was a tone Gabriel was quite familiar with. John only used this particular tone of voice when he talks about Gabriel’s sister or another girl he likes.

Gabriel on the other hand wasn't having any of this as he instantly sighed and gave his friend a very tiring look with a fast reply which came off as a murmur rather than a honest advice to the boy he was talking to.

"Dude, first thing; my sister is wayy older than you and two; you have been saying that for the past 5 years now which makes you kind of a creep."

"Well this time is different dude! You know what...You'll see."

Gabriel wanted to throw in a come back at his friend but instead he was so tired and creeped out of this conversation that he just closed his eyes with an attempt to gulp up his feeling and replied. "You know what John? Do what you want but just stop talking okay?"

"But dude! I'm in love with your sister so you're supposed to be happy besides..."

“Damn! oh for god’s sake...”

Again Just like that, time flew fast until the school activities for today came to an end and John did eventually follow Gabriel back home and with the help of the Light train, within minutes of when they left the school and got to the train station they were home. Around the corner to it anyway.

Gabriel and John arrived at Gabriel’s house. Gabriel was trying a little bit to conceal his excitement of getting to see his elder sister but the excited look was written all over his face. It was not just his face, his fast steps while walking home was a clear give away.

The two teenagers arrived at the door step of  the house.

Upon opening the door little Paris came crashing on Gabriel’s body. ”Oni Chan!!!”

“How’s my little warrior doing?”

Gabriel playfully asked his sister while his hand was rubbing on her head.

“Getting ready to kick big brother John ass for sure!”

“Huh? Getting ready to kick who’s ass? Little lady it seems you’re beginning to grow big wings!” John retorted at the little girls statement with a smile.

Slap.

...And from no where there was a loud sound. It was an unexpected sound but everyone knew what the sound was.  Someone had slapped Gabriel’s right cheek so hard that it caused him to lose his balance for a bit as he staggered a little. Upon getting his balance back he looked at the person who gave him the slap.

It was a blonde haired girl with a beautiful face. She had her hair tied up behind the her back of head. The ends of the tied up hair behind her was weaved down like a ponytail. She was also wearing a gym outfit which fitted quite well on her body by showing her female curves.

It was Leah, his elder sister who he admired to be like.

  

With a grin on her face Leah said “Oh wow you’re really beginning to slack off maybe I might need to straighten your ass a little bro”

“Or maybe you should just face your opponent head on rather than sneaking up on them”.

There was now a smile on Gabriel’s face with his hand on his cheek. Come to think about it they were really like this. This is his Nee-San, playful as always. There is really never a boring moment around her. Yes he is envious of her being a powered human but one of the reasons he eagerly wants to be a powered human is because of her. With him becoming a powered human, he will get to train with his sister and spar with her during her earnest.

Leah gave Gabriel a wink. A stupid expression she usually called the ‘wink of victory’

“Or maybe you should keep your guard up at all times”

While Gabriel and Leah kept bickering John on the other hand had his own personal intentions  or rather personal thoughts.

‘Oh my god so hot and beautiful! Not just beautiful but strong! At her age of 18 she’s already in a dojo practicing on improving her ability to get into Demons battle, the most brutal and challenging game. Wow as expected of the woman who caught my heart. Oh so hot!!!’

Before John could even notice he suddenly felt this painful sensation on his butt. Apparently he had been kicked at his butt really hard from behind which made him moved forward a little bit from his initial position.

“Hahahaha...You just got ass kicked”

“Now that’s my girl...” Leah showed Paris her palm thereby getting a high five from the little girl.

“Girl power sure rocks...!!! Why don’t we go for a little drill in the backyard today? Girls power versus weak ass men?”

Leah spouted out with a rather ecstatic expression.

With Leah chasing for a profession in Demons battle she comes back home and sometimes shows her little siblings some moves she learnt back at the dojo. This is what she calls a drill, beating her new techniques into her little siblings in a playful way of course.

  

“Well I don’t mind beating you but I don’t want little Paris to get hurt so how abou..”

“Oh Paris can take good care of herself I can guarantee you that, you are supposed to be concerned for your little friend John”

There was now a changed expression in John’s face like his pride had just been insulted.

“Oh it’s on! Gabriel why don’t we show all these ladies that they are not the only ones good at kicking ass.”

John exclaimed looking all fired up for the play match although it was just a play match but for him it was way more than that.

He wanted to show Leah that he’s strong and not weak as she thinks he is.

However it was not just him wanting to showcase his talents.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about. Let’s do this besides I’ve been waiting for you to ask Née-San.” Gabriel said with a grin on his face.

“Oh damn I hope your bite is as big as your bark”.

“How about we go find out now?”

“Alright let’s go.” Gabriel now Feeling all fired up proclaimed

They were now about to walk to their house backyard to start the play match till..

“Wait up y’all!!!”

A voice depicting a commanding tone stopped them before they all walked away. The voice belonged to a tall man with a blonde hair that was slightly long. He was wearing a green T-shirt.

This is Dr Daniel Lee, Gabriel’s Dad.

“Dad! Welcome back!”.

“Welcome back Dr Lee!”

Gabriel and John both greeted Dr Lee at the same time.

“Oh thanks John how are you doing? And also How’s the family?” Gabriel’s Dad asked.

“They are all fine sir”

“That’s good by the way Dinner is almost ready so you all little game is going to have to wait till after dinner”

With Gabriel’s Dad speaking there was a sudden silence in the air. It was as if everyone is showing respect to the man, well of course they had to show their respect. They all kept quiet while John’s Dad kept speaking.

“Okay Leah and Paris go help your mother set up the table, and Gabriel and John please go get your some butter and some sodas from the nearby grocery store”

“Alright Dad”

Gabriel and John went to the Grocery store which was only just a 10 minute walk away from their house. They got the stuffs they needed from the store and started heading back home.

They had already gotten close to the house when Gabriel noticed something was wrong.

The sky had already gotten dark when Gabriel and John got back and normally at this time their house lights should be turned on already but the house was still without any lights which made it looked rather strange. None of the lights were on in their house most especially their security lights

"What's going on? Your house is awfully dark. It’s like it's been hunted or something" John jokingly said as he stared at the house.

"Stop messing around, but to be honest I'm as surprised as you bro. Maybe there's something wrong with our power. Anyways, let's go see what's going on"

They both now approached the door with Gabriel in the front.

Gabriel reached forward for the knob but before he could make a good enough contact with it and grab it he noticed that the door was already opened which again was strange and the slight touch he made with the knob was enough to push the door backwards even more.

"That's strange" Said John.

"I Wonder who would’ve forgotten to close the door properly".

"Paris maybe? You know she's just a kid"

Gabriel now stepped inside the house.

"Nah, my baby sis is a very smart kid and she always knows to lock the door. Besides, if there's anyone who’s more likely to forget about locking the door then it's me because that has actually happened a few times but the keyword here is 'only a few' so get that."

"Then maybe you're the one who forgot to lock it then"

John walked in right after Gabriel and stepped out of the way for Gabriel to close the door back again.

“Or is the lock faulty?" Gabriel checked on the lock with observant eyes.

"Seems fine to me" John remarked accompanied with a shrug, taking everything very causally.

"I can see that smart guy"

Gabriel left the door locked and took the lead again in walking deeper into the house before he spoke out.

"Mom, what's going on with the power?"

...There wasn't an immediate reply from his mother which was also strange. She usually responded quickly when someone enters the house but today the house is dark and now they can’t hear anything. Just what the hell is going on?

“Dad?! Leah?!”

Gabriel called out again but there was still no reply.

Their house had a little corridor that welcomes you when you get in, the corridor also leads to the living room by the right side and by the left was the stairs. Gabriel and John passed the stairs and went straight right into the living room which they had to go through first just to get to his mother who will most likely be in the kitchen by this time.

However, right now the house was very dark as it was night time but the moon was shining so bright enough that beams of light were leaking into the house through the open window in the living room and that meant that they could see a little bit clearly through the darkness.

Everything still felt strange for them though, they haven’t gotten a response from anybody yet in the dark house. And why was the house so dark in the first place? Was Leah trying to play another trick on him again?

She’s the kind of person to do such a thing on this scale.

Both boys walked to the living room and Gabriel getting ready to call out to his mother again shouted "Mom where's Pari—"

Before Gabriel could complete what he was about to say he stepped on what felt like a puddle of liquid and because he didn't have his shoes on as they would usually take it off at the door before walking deeper into the house he was able to feel the liquid below his feet.

"What's this?"

Gabriel looked downwards to see the puddle but since the room was mostly dark and visually obscure except for areas the beam of moonlight was hitting Gabriel simply thought that what he was stepping on was water. However, John who had been whispering annoyingly behind his ears had now gone very silent and the only noise coming from him were shaky breaths

"Who spilled water all over the floor?" Gabriel wondered, pulling his foot upwards and using both his left index and middle fingers pressed together to slide across the liquid on his foot.

He pulled the pressed fingers closer to his face and checked on the consistency by rubbing the two pressed fingers with his thumb in a circular motion but he then came to the realization that what he was checking wasn't water because the texture was slightly more viscous.

"Hmm, I don't think this is water... What is this?"

He took a whiff of the liquid on his fingers and it had an iron scent to it.

At first he was confused as to what the liquid could be but there were only a few number of fluids which could match the characteristics he had been able to discern but his mind drifted to the most likely one for a second

"Is this blood?"

Gabriel's eyes became skeptical for a moment and his forehead were scrunched. He no longer was sure of what was happening and decided to check for sure by using his smartphone to put on the inbuilt flashlight.

It was then he remembered that his own phone was seized by his mother for skipping school to watch the Demons Battle.

His heart began beating faster the more he thought about tasting the fluid on his fingers "What if this is really blood?"

There was now this foreboding feeling that made him began finding it hard to breathe.

"Am I really going to have a taste of this or—"

‘John’s phone’

That quick thought stopped Gabriel from going through with his plan of having a lick of whatever the iron scenting liquid smere on his fingers were. He is already getting scared to the extent he is no longer thinking properly.

"John, help me with your phone."

Gabriel asked but he was left without a reply except for terrified sounding breaths from his friend

"Hey, didn't you hear what I said? I said help me with your—"

"G-Gabriel-l"

Gabriel got tapped on the shoulder by John whose hand were trembling.  Then John’s other hand extended from behind Gabriel, passing over his shoulder to point at one direction of the house.

It was at the end of looking at the direction pointed by John’s hand that Gabriel eyes became wide with blazing terror. His expression immediately became hardened with his mouth already trembling. It was at this moment he saw something horrifying.

He had to ask is he seeing clearly? This can’t be maybe he must be having a nightmare. It can’t be...

His mom was now lying down against the wall with her head all smashed up to the point that he could barely even recognize her in the pool of her own blood.

Her body was just slightly off the focus of the beam of moonlight entering through the window which was why the two boys missed the sight when they first walked in and it was John's wondering eyes that managed to catch it.

He had to ask is he seeing clearly? This can’t be. Maybe he must be dreaming right now. This can’t be. Seeing his mom in such a state was just too terrifying for him as his legs began to tremble greatly.

After that, the next thing Gabriel saw was his little sister Paris, wrapped in his mom’s arms not making any form of motion herself while the both of them were covered in a lot of blood.

“P..Pari.s?”

Shocked by what he had seen Gabriel couldn't say anything. It was as if his entire body was paralyzed, still in disbelief of what he was seeing while his knees trembled alongside John who now had goosebumps all over his body.

"Jesus!"

John finally let out a word since he stumbled on the gruesome scene without stammering any of the syllables. However, this time his shock was no longer being caused by seeing Nora and Paris together on the floor but was now because of something else. Something even more shocking.

John was looking at a completely different angle in the room now. His hand reached out for Gabriel who was still standing like he was lost in his despair, Gabriel was not saying a word. He was still quite. He was lost in his own thoughts and is still yet to believe that he actually is in reality right now and not in a messed up nightmare.

John understood this fact but right now he had to ignore Gabriel’s shock. John kept on poking Gabriel to turn around regardless of his shock.

There was a sense of trembling in John’s gesture that prompted Gabriel to turn around.

Gabriel then turned his head slightly to take his gaze to the other side of the room where John was now staring at and upon turning his head what he saw was...

His elder sister Leah, who was now unconscious and being pinned up against the wall with someone holding her by the neck. Blood could be seen around her lips.

The figure held her with just one hand as if she was nothing, with the beam of moonlight reflecting off of the assailants huge back. Upon looking with even more focus Gabriel noticed a familiar figure...

Regardless, clear imagery or not with the what both boys saw, the figure to be was;  dressed in Red kimono, athletic build and it is no mistake that this figure was a familiar one. They both knew who this person was.

Both boys completely shocked out their minds were now stuck with nothing to do but to watch the moonlight reflecting on the back of this assailant and during that only one word came out of John's mouth. With perplexed fear in his tone of voice while staring at the figure now dominating Leah John muttered.

"KI...LLER JOE?"

Gabriel on the other hand could no longer take it and so his legs gave in and he fell to the floor with a thudding noise and then came the scream...

"AHHHHHHH!!!!!"
