Chapter 17

The subterranean vault beneath the Apex Estate was designed to withstand a direct missile strike. It was lined with lead, soundproofed with acoustic foam, and locked behind a biometric vault door.

Arthur sat perfectly still in the center of the room, stripped down to a pair of athletic shorts. The glowing blue vial of the Leviathan Marrow Serum sat on the steel table in front of him.

System, Arthur commanded. Scan the serum and calculate the cost of purification.

[Scanning Item: Leviathan Marrow Serum.]

[Detecting deep-sea biological toxins. Projected mortality rate upon consumption: 99.8%.]

[Cost to purify and optimize serum via System interface: 25,000 SP.]

[Current Balance: 75,000 SP. Proceed? Y/N]

Y.

A beam of golden light shot out from Arthur’s chest, enveloping the glass vial. The deep, murky blue liquid began to boil violently without giving off any heat. The dark impurities within the serum burned away into ash, leaving behind a liquid that glowed with a pure, blinding, sapphire brilliance.

[Purification Complete. The serum will now permanently alter the Host's genetic structure, granting Pinnacle-Tier physical density and reflex speed.]

[Warning: The integration process will cause extreme physical discomfort.]

"Extreme discomfort," Arthur scoffed. He had spent three years breaking his back in a warehouse. He knew pain.

He popped the seal on the vial, tipped his head back, and swallowed the serum in one gulp. It tasted like static electricity and cold saltwater.

For three seconds, nothing happened.

Then, Arthur fell off his chair, his hands flying to his chest.

Discomfort was the understatement of the century. It felt as though someone had injected molten lava directly into his bone marrow. His muscles violently spasmed, tearing and instantly reknitting themselves into denser, hyper-efficient fibers. His bones cracked, echoing loudly in the silent vault as his skeletal structure reinforced itself to handle his new muscle mass.

Arthur gritted his teeth, refusing to scream, blood dripping from his lip as he bit down. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribs like a machine gun, pumping the sapphire energy through every capillary in his body.

Ten agonizing minutes later, the pain vanished as quickly as it had arrived.

Arthur lay on the cold steel floor, panting heavily. He slowly pushed himself up.

He looked at his hands. They looked the same, but the sensation was entirely different. He felt light as if gravity had lessened its grip on him. He walked over to a heavy, solid-steel training dummy in the corner of the vault.

Without winding up, Arthur delivered a casual, experimental punch to the dummy’s chest.

BOOM.

The impact sounded like a cannon going off. The solid steel dummy caved inward, a perfect imprint of Arthur’s fist embedded three inches deep into the metal.

Arthur stared at his knuckles. Not a single scratch. Not a drop of blood.

Ding.

[Host Evolution Complete.]

[Physical Status: Grandmaster Tier. You possess the striking force to shatter concrete and the reaction speed to dodge low-caliber ballistic projectiles.]

Arthur smiled. The Thorne Syndicate ruled with violence? He was now the god of violence.

Before he could test his strength further, the secure intercom on the wall buzzed frantically.

"Master Vance," Vera’s calm voice filtered through the speaker, though there was a rare hint of urgency. "Ms. Serena Sterling is on the secure line. It is an emergency."

Arthur grabbed a towel, wiping the sweat from his neck, and pressed the intercom button. "Put her through."

"Arthur!" Serena’s voice was borderline hysterical. "They're destroying us!"

"Breathe, Serena. Who is destroying us?"

"The Thorne Syndicate!" she cried. "Someone tipped them off that you own Horizon Neural Tech! Silas Thorne’s father, Marcus Thorne, just launched a massive retaliatory strike! He didn't send thugs this time. He sent hackers. They’ve breached our firewalls. They are currently deleting our AI patents, draining our corporate accounts, and tanking our stock! If we don't stop them in ten minutes, Horizon will be bankrupt!"

Arthur’s eyes narrowed. Marcus Thorne was moving fast. He couldn't beat Arthur physically, so he was trying to burn Arthur's empire to the ground digitally.

"Ten minutes is nine more than I need," Arthur said, his voice entirely devoid of panic. "Don't touch the servers, Serena. Let them think they're winning. I'll handle it."

Chapter 57The frozen moment in time shattered. The roaring wind returned with a vengeance. The dying Harvester monolith crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ten miles offshore, sending a massive, three-hundred-foot tidal wave racing toward the island of San Marcos.Arthur didn't even look at the incoming tsunami. He tossed the fading, useless shaft of the Spear of Genesis aside. The magnetic casing dissolved into violet dust before it hit the marble balcony."Vera! Hyperion!" Arthur shouted. Before the tidal wave could strike the newly rebuilt capital, Hyperion shot down from the stratosphere. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard positioned himself directly between the city and the ocean. He didn't build a wall; he simply unleashed a localized burst of thermal radiation. The three-hundred-foot wall of seawater slammed into the thermal barrier and instantly flash-boiled into steam. It looked like a jagged wound in reality, bleeding a deep, terrifying violet light. From the rift, the weapon descended. It wasn't a gun. It didn't have a trigger or a stock. It was a six-foot-long javelin composed entirely of condensed, swirling anti-matter encased in a shifting magnetic field. It hummed with a low, bone-rattling frequency that made the hair on everyone’s arms stand on end.Arthur stepped forward and reached out."Master, do not touch it!" Vera warned, taking a rare step backward, her instincts screaming that the weapon was anathema to biological life.Arthur ignored her. The heat radiating off his body spiked to ten thousand degrees. He slammed into the top of the Harvester vessel. The impact should have melted the alien hull instantly. Instead, a shockwave of blinding white steam erupted across the sky. The alien monolith wasn’t just armored; its hull was maintained at absolute zero. It was a lightless, frozen void where human ambition went to die.Arthur Vance wasn’t human anymore. He stood on the bridge of the Abyssal Leviathan, a deep-sea exploration vessel he had purchased from the Level 5 System Store for an effortless half-million SP. The ship was constructed from self-repairing dark matter and propelled by a frictionless gravity drive. It descended through the pitch-black water at terrifying speeds.Ares stood like a monolith at the back of the bridge, his red optics cutting through the dim cabin lighting. Nemesis hovered near the navigation console, her shadow-wrapped form completely unbothered by the crushing depths outside the viewport. Vera stood directly beside Arthur, her hand resting on her combat blade out of pure habit."Depth: thirty-five thousand feet," the ship’s automated AI reported in a smooth, synthetic voic
