Chapter 18

Arthur didn't bother getting dressed. He stood in the underground vault, the blue glow of the System interface reflecting in his eyes. Physical strength wouldn't save Horizon Neural Tech’s servers, but the System had tools for every war.

System, Arthur commanded. Open the Store. Filter: Cyber Warfare, Intelligence, and Digital Dominance.

The screen shifted, displaying rows of high-tier assets.

[Target Acquired: System Summon — Vanguard 'Nyx' (Digital Warfare Specialist).]

[Cost: 40,000 SP.]

[Description: Nyx is a Pinnacle-Tier artificial intelligence housed in a biological shell. She is capable of breaching military-grade firewalls, manipulating global financial markets, and completely owning the digital space.]

Arthur glanced at his balance. He had exactly 50,000 SP remaining. It was a steep price, but it was an investment in his absolute supremacy.

Purchase.

[40,000 SP deducted. Remaining Balance: 10,000 SP.]

[Initiating Vanguard Summon...]

The air in the vault hummed with static electricity. The lights flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness for a split second before a cascade of glowing green binary code materialized in the center of the room. The code spun rapidly, knitting together into a physical form.

When the lights snapped back on, a woman was standing there.

Unlike Vera’s lethal, refined elegance, Nyx looked like a cyberpunk fantasy. She was short, wearing an oversized black hoodie plastered with neon warning labels, combat boots, and black headphones resting around her neck. Her hair was a messy, neon-green bob. She blew a massive bubble of pink chewing gum, letting it pop loudly.

Her eyes, however, were terrifying. They weren't human. Her irises were swirling rings of digital data.

"Vanguard 'Nyx' online," she said, her voice carrying a slight electronic echo. She looked Arthur up and down, offering a lazy salute. "Nice abs, boss. Who are we deleting today?"

"Marcus Thorne," Arthur said, grabbing a laptop from the vault's command desk and tossing it to her. "His syndicate’s hackers are currently breaching Horizon Neural Tech. I want you to stop them."

Nyx caught the laptop with one hand. She didn't open it. She just placed her palm flat against the closed aluminum lid. Her green eyes flashed intensely as her bio-digital interface connected directly to the motherboard.

"Let's see..." Nyx hummed, chewing her gum. "Oh, this is cute. They’re using a brute-force DDOS attack masked with a Trojan worm. Amateurs. Boss, they are in your mainframe right now, trying to wipe the AI patents."

"Stop them."

"Done," Nyx said instantly.

"What?" Arthur blinked. "Already?"

"I'm a System Vanguard, boss. I don't type. I just think," Nyx smirked. "I locked their IP addresses, quarantined the worm, and reinforced Horizon's firewall with quantum-encryption. The company is completely safe."

"Good," Arthur smiled, leaning against the steel table. "Now... hit back."

Nyx’s eyes lit up with malicious glee. "Oh, I was hoping you'd say that. Rules of engagement?"

"No rules," Arthur said coldly. "Marcus Thorne wanted to take my company. I want you to take everything he owns. Liquidate his accounts. Expose his secrets. I want the Thorne Syndicate eradicated before the sun goes down."

"Yes, sir," Nyx laughed, her eyes glowing rapidly as she processed petabytes of data per second. "Backtracing their connection now... piercing the Thorne Syndicate's private servers... oh, wow. Boss, these guys are sloppy. I’m into their offshore accounts."

"Drain them," Arthur commanded. "Transfer everything into a ghost shell corporation under my name."

"Routing funds now. Stealing... two point four billion dollars," Nyx said, popping her gum. "Done. What next?"

"The Syndicate relies on politicians and dirty cops to stay out of jail," Arthur analyzed. "Find their ledger. The bribe lists. The assassination contracts. Find everything Marcus Thorne has ever done to keep himself out of prison, and mass-email it to every federal judge, FBI director, and news station on the East Coast."

Nyx giggled a highly unsettling, digital sound. "Compiling the Black Book. Encrypting sender data... and... sent. The FBI just received an un-deleteable file containing thirty years of Thorne Syndicate felonies. Marcus Thorne is currently the most wanted man in America."

Arthur checked his phone. The screen lit up with breaking news alerts.

BREAKING: MASSIVE DATA LEAK EXPOSES THORNE SYNDICATE. FEDERAL AUTHORITIES RAIDING CAPITAL CITY MANORS.

Arthur smiled. "Nyx, Vera. Let's head upstairs. We have an empire to officially build."

Three hundred miles away, in the Capital City, Marcus Thorne stared at the bank terminals in his underground command center. Every single account read zero.

Sirens wailed in the distance, growing closer to his fortified compound. His cell phone was ringing endlessly with panicked calls from his capos.

"Sir!" his lieutenant screamed, bursting into the room. "The feds are breaching the outer gate! They have everything! The ledgers, the accounts it's all gone! Silas is in the hospital with shattered legs, and the doctors say he'll never walk again!"

Marcus Thorne’s face was pale, his eyes wide with a mixture of terror and unbridled, homicidal rage.

"Arthur Vance," Marcus whispered, the name tasting like ash in his mouth. "He isn't a proxy. He's a monster."

Marcus turned to his lieutenant, his eyes cold and dead. "We are burned here. But I will not die alone. Call the Shadow Guard. Tell them I will give them the rest of my hidden gold reserves. I don't want Arthur Vance dead. I want him skinned alive."

Chapter 57The frozen moment in time shattered. The roaring wind returned with a vengeance. The dying Harvester monolith crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ten miles offshore, sending a massive, three-hundred-foot tidal wave racing toward the island of San Marcos.Arthur didn't even look at the incoming tsunami. He tossed the fading, useless shaft of the Spear of Genesis aside. The magnetic casing dissolved into violet dust before it hit the marble balcony."Vera! Hyperion!" Arthur shouted. Before the tidal wave could strike the newly rebuilt capital, Hyperion shot down from the stratosphere. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard positioned himself directly between the city and the ocean. He didn't build a wall; he simply unleashed a localized burst of thermal radiation. The three-hundred-foot wall of seawater slammed into the thermal barrier and instantly flash-boiled into steam. It looked like a jagged wound in reality, bleeding a deep, terrifying violet light. From the rift, the weapon descended. It wasn't a gun. It didn't have a trigger or a stock. It was a six-foot-long javelin composed entirely of condensed, swirling anti-matter encased in a shifting magnetic field. It hummed with a low, bone-rattling frequency that made the hair on everyone’s arms stand on end.Arthur stepped forward and reached out."Master, do not touch it!" Vera warned, taking a rare step backward, her instincts screaming that the weapon was anathema to biological life.Arthur ignored her. He wrapped his bare hand around the magnetic shaft of the Spear. The moment his skin made contact, a violent surge of violet energy raced up his arm, intertwining with the

He folded his silver-armored arms across his chest and plummeted directly toward the pitch-black surface of the alien ship.As he fell, Hyperion channeled the raw thermal energy of the upper atmosphere, turning himself into a localized, artificial sun. The heat radiating off his body spiked to ten thousand degrees. He slammed into the top of the Harvester vessel. The impact should have melted the alien hull instantly. Instead, a shockwave of blinding white steam erupted across the sky. The alien monolith wasn’t just armored; its hull was maintained at absolute zero. I bought that same skill twenty thousand years ago, on a planet whose name has already turned to dust."Vera’s grip on her blade tightened. Her crimson eyes darted around the cavernous room, scanning the shadows for a trap."The Infinite Wealth System," Host 409 wheezed, pushing himself up into a sitting position, clutching his shattered chest interface. Chapter 52The crushing pressure of the Mariana Trench was enough to compress a standard nuclear submarine into the size of a soup can. It was a lightless, frozen void where human ambition went to die.Arthur Vance wasn’t human anymore. He stood on the bridge of the Abyssal Leviathan, a deep-sea exploration vessel he had purchased from the Level 5 System Store for an effortless half-million SP. The ship was constructed from self-repairing dark matter and propelled by a frictionless gravity drive. It descended through the pitch-black water at terrifying speeds.Ares stood like a monolith at the back of the bridge, his red optics cutting through the dim cabin lighting. Nemesis hovered near the navigation console, her shadow-wrapped form completely unbothered by the crushing depths outside the viewport. Vera stood directly beside Arthur, her hand resting on her combat blade out of pure habit."Depth: thirty-five thousand feet," the ship’s automated AI reported in a smooth, synthetic voic
