Chapter 53

The sheer impossibility of the ancient man's words hung in the stale air of the deep-sea vault.

"Explain," Arthur commanded. He didn't raise his voice. He simply let the Aura of the Sovereign bear down on the broken man.

Host 409 let out a rattling laugh, completely unaffected by Arthur’s oppressive willpower. "Your aura doesn't work on me, boy. I bought that same skill twenty thousand years ago, on a planet whose name has already turned to dust."

Vera’s grip on her blade tightened. Her crimson eyes darted around the cavernous room, scanning the shadows for a trap.

"The Infinite Wealth System," Host 409 wheezed, pushing himself up into a sitting position, clutching his shattered chest interface. "You thought you were chosen, didn't you? You thought it was a magical gift given to a desperate man who needed revenge."

Arthur’s jaw tightened. "It gave me capital. I built the empire."

"It's a filtration tool!" the ancient man spat, his dead gray eyes flaring with sudden, agonizing intensity. "The Architects don't care about your money, Arthur Vance. They don't care about your corporate takeovers. The System is a parasite. It finds the most ruthless, driven entity on a primitive world and feeds them infinite resources."

The man gestured wildly around the alien vault.

"Why do you think it forces you to conquer? Why does it reward you for eradicating your enemies? It's fattening you up! It forces you to unify your planet's resources, to build an absolute defense grid, to reach the absolute pinnacle of human genetics."

Arthur stared at the broken man, the pieces of the cosmic puzzle violently snapping into place. "Incubation."

"Exactly," Host 409 whispered, a tear of pure grief carving a clean line down his filthy cheek. "You aren't the king of Earth, Arthur. You are the farmer. You just grew the perfect crop. And now that you hit Level 5... the Architects know the harvest is ready."

Arthur’s mind raced. His Grandmaster-tier cognitive processing analyzed the threat in micro-seconds. The absolute arrogance that had fueled him since Valmont City vanished, replaced by the freezing, exhilarating clarity of a true war.

"You fought them," Arthur stated, looking at the man's missing arm and shattered interface.

"I tried," Host 409 choked out. "I bought Apex Vanguards. I bought orbital defense platforms. But the Harvesters... they don't fight with troops. They fight with gravity. They break continents. They took my world, stripped it of all bio-density, and threw me down here to rot as a warning for the next Seed."

Suddenly, the encrypted comms unit in Arthur’s ear shrieked with agonizing static.

"Boss! Boss, do you copy?!" Nyx’s voice was completely hysterical, bordering on a raw scream.

Arthur tapped his earpiece. "I’m here, Nyx. Report."

"The orbital quantum ledger!" Nyx sobbed, the sound of frantic typing echoing over the line. "It’s gone! The satellites were just... swallowed!"

"Swallowed?" Arthur demanded, his blood running cold. "By what?"

"I don't know!" Nyx shrieked. "Three massive thermal anomalies just warped into the upper atmosphere. They ignored the orbital grid completely. Boss, they are the size of cities. They aren't answering hails. They are positioning directly over San Marcos, London, and Shanghai!"

Host 409 let his head fall back against the metallic dais. He closed his eyes. "They're here. The Harvesters. The game is over, Arthur."

Arthur stood perfectly still. The crushing weight of the ocean above him was nothing compared to the apocalyptic pressure settling on his shoulders.

The old bloodlines were human. They fought for money, for pride, for legacy. But this? This was an extinction event.

Arthur turned his back on the broken predecessor.

"Master?" Vera asked, her voice tight, awaiting the command that would dictate the survival of their species.

Arthur pulled up his System interface. He stared at the golden text hovering in his vision.

[WARNING: ARCHITECT HARVEST SHIPS DETECTED IN ATMOSPHERE.]

[Survival Probability: 0.0001%]

Arthur reached out and violently swiped his hand through the air, dismissing the warning screen. His golden eyes ignited, burning with a wrath that eclipsed anything he had felt for Julian Sterling or the Vanguard Council.

"They think I'm a crop to be harvested," Arthur whispered, a feral, terrifying smile spreading across his face.

He tapped his earpiece. "Nyx. Tell Hyperion to take the sky. Tell Goliath to brace the capital. I don't care how big their ships are."

Arthur looked at his remaining 200,000 SP. It was time to unlock Level 5 fully.

"No one touches my property."

Chapter 57The frozen moment in time shattered. The roaring wind returned with a vengeance. The dying Harvester monolith crashed into the Mediterranean Sea ten miles offshore, sending a massive, three-hundred-foot tidal wave racing toward the island of San Marcos.Arthur didn't even look at the incoming tsunami. He tossed the fading, useless shaft of the Spear of Genesis aside. The magnetic casing dissolved into violet dust before it hit the marble balcony."Vera! Hyperion!" Arthur shouted. Before the tidal wave could strike the newly rebuilt capital, Hyperion shot down from the stratosphere. The plasma-wrapped Vanguard positioned himself directly between the city and the ocean. He didn't build a wall; he simply unleashed a localized burst of thermal radiation. The three-hundred-foot wall of seawater slammed into the thermal barrier and instantly flash-boiled into steam. It looked like a jagged wound in reality, bleeding a deep, terrifying violet light. From the rift, the weapon descended. It wasn't a gun. It didn't have a trigger or a stock. It was a six-foot-long javelin composed entirely of condensed, swirling anti-matter encased in a shifting magnetic field. It hummed with a low, bone-rattling frequency that made the hair on everyone’s arms stand on end.Arthur stepped forward and reached out."Master, do not touch it!" Vera warned, taking a rare step backward, her instincts screaming that the weapon was anathema to biological life.Arthur ignored her. He folded his silver-armored arms across his chest and plummeted directly toward the pitch-black surface of the alien ship.As he fell, Hyperion channeled the raw thermal energy of the upper atmosphere, turning himself into a localized, artificial sun. The heat radiating off his body spiked to ten thousand degrees. He slammed into the top of the Harvester vessel. The impact should have melted the alien hull instantly. Instead, a shockwave of blinding white steam erupted across the sky. The alien monolith wasn’t just armored; its hull was maintained at absolute zero. Chapter 52The crushing pressure of the Mariana Trench was enough to compress a standard nuclear submarine into the size of a soup can. It was a lightless, frozen void where human ambition went to die.Arthur Vance wasn’t human anymore. He stood on the bridge of the Abyssal Leviathan, a deep-sea exploration vessel he had purchased from the Level 5 System Store for an effortless half-million SP. The ship was constructed from self-repairing dark matter and propelled by a frictionless gravity drive. It descended through the pitch-black water at terrifying speeds.Ares stood like a monolith at the back of the bridge, his red optics cutting through the dim cabin lighting. Nemesis hovered near the navigation console, her shadow-wrapped form completely unbothered by the crushing depths outside the viewport. Vera stood directly beside Arthur, her hand resting on her combat blade out of pure habit."Depth: thirty-five thousand feet," the ship’s automated AI reported in a smooth, synthetic voic
