The horrible ordeal brought the Warringtons even closer, and Alex’s quick thinking and resourcefulness helped him unmask the real culprits.

With his name finally cleared, Alex was welcomed back to the Warrington Estate, and Josiah Warrington promised to extend his complete support toward all his future endeavors.

Finally relieved to have his granddaughter back, Edgar Warrington threw a feast to honor Alex and wash away all the bad blood between Alex and Josiah.

After a brief rest, Dr. Lucy recovered, and by evening she was ready to accompany Alex back to the Warrington farmhouse.

Josiah welcomed them personally, showing them to the supper table, which had already been laden with delicacies prepared from the freshest local produce.

Edgar Warrington stood up from his chair and raised his wine glass.

“A toast to Dr. Alex Verlaine, the savior of our family,” he proclaimed, greeting Alex with a polite smile. “We are grateful for everything you’ve done for us.”

I hope you’re wide awake by now,” the Sergeant spoke tauntingly.Alex wiped the sleep off his eyes and spoke in a groggy voice, “I already answered all your questions yesterday. What do you want this time?”“We’ve found something. Felicia Rashford’s broken phone. It was damaged during the crash, but we still managed to recover the information. She actually tried sending you a text barely an hour before the accident.”Alex became wide awake as he heard that information.“She never texted me. I haven’t been in touch with her since we last met in Glenmonte.”“Yes, I understand. The message was never delivered. Network error, probably,” Sergeant Doherty replied. “But it’s still saved in the draft

He knew the cops were never going to stop disturbing him as long as the true reason behind the accident remained unknown.Right now, the best course of action was to lie low and let things unfold, but Alex wasn’t the kind of person to stay quiet. Besides, he had his own reasons for suspecting someone else might have caused the accident to implicate his name in the matter and trap him in the case.As Alex got back inside his car, he rolled up his windows and set the GPS for the nearest hotel. He wasn’t planning to return to Glenmonte without clearing the air in Nexus City, but for that he needed connections and a source of credible inside information.Setting his car on auto-drive, Alex called up the only person he knew could be trusted for discreet fieldwork without stirring up any trouble.“Captain, I need a favor from you,” he said as Captain Mason Williams picked up the call.“O

Take care, Mr. Verlaine,” the chauffeur mumbled faintly and walked out.Alex, however, remained seated. Several twisted thoughts crowded his mind as the news replayed in his head. What if it really wasn’t a simple accident? What if someone had actually sabotaged their car?Even though the Rashfords didn’t have too many business rivals who could go to such lengths, Alex knew he had recently made plenty of enemies.Despite the details being blurry and disjointed, Alex had a wild hunch that one of his several foes could have orchestrated this tragedy to pin the blame on him and put him out of play permanently without a direct confrontation. So far, Alex couldn’t think of a single person who could

Their new electric car exploded into flames and drove off the Avilon Bridge.”Alex’s eyes widened as a chill ran down his spine. He immediately opened the door and ushered the man in.“When did this happen?” he asked, staring anxiously. The chauffeur broke down into sobs and replied, “Just an hour ago. The cops have recovered the smashed-up car, but they are still looking for the…bodies.” Even though Alex had fallen out of love with Felicia, hearing this tragic news devastated him completely.
