Chapter 2: IN BETWEEN THE THREE

Kelvin stopped at the entrance of the hotel he had seen in the picture, he looked at it coldly, but calmly though the fingers in his pockets were clenched tightly.

After taking a deep breath, he walked into the hotel without thinking too much but was left helpless as he realised he didn’t even know where he could find Diana as the picture didn’t show that.

He could see the waitress carrying drinks around the hall looking like they were in a hurry and no one even stopped to ask him if he needed something.

After some thought, he decided to look around first and if he still couldn’t find her, he would think about something else—

“Miss Diana is really a great woman, I wasn’t expecting her to really pull this off. I really envy her..”

Kelvin paused in his footsteps, his body stiffened and he turned slowly only to realise the one who had spoken was a woman on call, he raised an eyebrow in deep thought but seeing the woman had begun to walk away, he followed her without another thought.

He had a feeling the Diana the stranger had mentioned was his wife.

Kelvin followed her quietly from behind until they got into a well-decorated room.

Kelvin froze in his footsteps after seeing people in the room, and he immediately guessed this was a small gathering party, he frowned in confusion as he thought he had gotten to the wrong place.

As he thought so, he unconsciously looked around and suddenly froze. His eyes were fixed on the two people standing on the stage looking like a pair.

His eyes turned cold as he realised it was the person he had come for—His wife, Diana.

He sneered softly then looked at the hand of the man wrapped around his wife’s waist.

He could also see that Diana had been drinking as her face was red and he wondered how she could be this comfortable with that man, Harry.

Suddenly he watched Diana raise her wine cup, “This drink is for Harry!” She said aloud which made everyone focus on her.

She turned to smile at Harry softly before turning back to the crowd as she continued, “You know? Without Harry, the company wouldn’t have been able to launch. He has been good to me and the company and his help is appreciated.” Diana paused to give Harry who had bowed his head shyly a gentle smile, “Thank you, Harry.” She said in a gentle voice Kelvin hadn’t heard in years.

“You don’t need to thank me, Diana. I really didn’t do much and only did what I must do.” Harry shyly responded which made the crowd smile.

Kelvin looked at the scene in front of him and felt stifled in his heart, his lips curled in a sneer, he swallowed and chuckled softly and he looked at them coldly but calmly.

He suddenly began to hear the crowd clamouring and clapping which made him confused, he looked around, then he listened to them carefully and realised what was being said…

“Kiss! Kiss kiss!”

“Yes! You both stop being embarrassed and kiss!”

The two people on stage blushed in embarrassment but none of them made a move even when the crowd's excitement was beginning to explode. Harry who was at the side suddenly saw something that stunned him, his eyes focused on the man standing at the corner coldly watching them. He was at first surprised, but when he met the calm gaze of Kelvin, he suddenly threw a smirk as a thought popped into his head, and without hesitation, he turned and held Diana who stood beside him and before she could notice or resist, he dropped a kiss on her lips, quick but deep.

Kelvin's eyes sharpened as he watched another man kiss his wife, and from his angle, he could clearly see that Diana had never resisted but allowed Harry to kiss her.

The hands in his pocket tightened but his face was calm even when Harry threw a proud glance his way after the crowd went wild after their kiss.

Kelvin coldly watched as Diana’s face got redder but she didn’t clarify things or scold the smug Harry.

With his eyes on them, Kelvin suddenly stopped the Waiter who was coming his way, then he picked up a glass from the tray, calm and elegant with his eyes still fixed on the couple on the stage.

He didn’t drink the alcohol, but held it in his hand with an indifferent look on his face.

He waited for the excited crowd to calm down before raising his cup, then hitting it gently and loudly with the key in his hand.

The sound was sharp, loud and clear and it silenced the room immediately.

Everyone’s eyes immediately followed the sound as they wondered who was so bold to make that sound during this moment but they were even stunned to see it was someone they couldn’t recognize.

“Who is he?” That was the question that appeared on everyone’s mind when they saw the calm but cold Kelvin standing at the corner of the hall, except Diane.

Diane stiffened in shock as she looked at Kelvin who also looked at her calmly, her heart beat raced and she felt so speechless but could only look at him.

Meanwhile, Kelvin who had gotten the attention of the crowd smiled, then sipped a bit out of his alcohol elegantly, and focused his eyes on the pale-looking Diana.

He raised his drink and nodded calmly, as his mocking voice rang out,

“I didn’t expect to be so lucky today, to witness such a perfect couple. Are you planning to book a room in this hotel later?”

I woke up tangled in sheets that still carried his heat, his scent—cedar and clean skin and something darker I couldn’t name. My body ached in the good way and the bad way at once. The good way from how he’d held me like I might vanish if he loosened his grip. The bad way from the guilt still sitting heavy in my stomach like undigested lead.I turned my head.Kelvin was already awake. Barely. Eyes half-lidded, hair a beautiful disaster, one arm slung over his face like he was trying to block the day from happening. The sheet had slipped low enough that I could trace the line of muscle disappearing beneath it. I hated how much I wanted to reach out. Trace it with my fingers. Pretend for five more minutes that last night’s phone call never happened.Instead I forced myself to sit up.Ha

The phone was still warm in my palm, Marcus’s voice echoing in the hollow parts of my skull. That’s my girl. The words sat like acid on my tongue. I wanted to spit them out. I wanted to scream them into the dark until the walls cracked.Instead, I kept walking.Bare feet silent against the cool wood. Heart hammering so hard I swore it would bruise the inside of my ribs. The bedroom door loomed ahead—ordinary, white, slightly ajar the way I’d left it. A thin stripe of moonlight sliced across the floor from the gap. I paused there, hand hovering over the knob, breath caught somewhere between lungs and throat.I could still turn around.I could grab my bag from the living room, slip out the front door, disappear into the night before he even rolled over. No note. No goodbye. Just gone. But my fingers curled arou

YES WE DID IT, EVEN AFTER EVERYTHING Cecile POVThe words hung between us like smoke after a fire—thick, lingering, impossible to ignore. I pulled my hand back from Kevin’s chest, feeling the warmth of his skin fade against my palm, and turned toward the stove again. The sauce was done, but dinner suddenly felt like an afterthought. My heart was pounding, not from fear or anger, but from that raw edge of certainty we’d just carved out. He chose me without hedging, without caveats. And damn if that didn’t stir something deep, something hungry.I plated the food mechanically, the clink of forks against ceramic cutting through the quiet. Kevin watched me, his eyes tracing my movements like he was memorizing them. “You okay?” he asked, voice low, not pushing but probing.I glanced over my shoulder, a small smile tugging at my lips. “Better than okay. Just… processing.” I handed him a plate, our fingers brushing, sending a spark up my arm. “Eat. Before it gets cold.”We sat at the table,
