Kai was astonished, he couldn’t believe or understand what this old man was saying to him and Fabio, understanding this, took it upon himself to explain.

“I know you must be confused but this is how it all happened,” Fabio explained, “you got lost at a very young age, but the Grant family possessed a very great mysterious power.”

“Each member had a life crystal that could locate their kin,” Fabio continued with his explanation and Kai listened with keen interest.

“However, your life crystal had always been in a dormant state, indicating that something had blocked your abilities and so because of that, we couldn’t find you as quickly as we thought we would.” Fabio finished and Kai’s mouth opened slightly.

Kai, after hearing Fabio’s explanation, reflected on his past and he didn’t seem so confused anymore, everything Fabio explained made perfect sense.

The Benson family had always told him that he had an illness and that he needed to drink a secret medicine daily.

Each time Kai took that medicine, he felt his strength ebbing away and that was when it dawned on him now that he had never been sick!

The secret medicine had actually sealed away his powers, preventing him from activating his abilities and making him undetectable by the life crystal.

“I waited years to find you, I’m glad I didn’t lose hope,” Fabio said, hugging his grandson again and feeling his heartbeat against his chest made him smile.

His grandson was indeed alive and he’s holding him right now.

“What happened? I know this isn’t the right time or place but if you could catch me up then I would be most grateful and happy.” Fabio said.

“I need to find the people that made it impossible for us to find you, I almost got swallowed up in a pit of despair.” He added.

Kai was silent for a while as he recalled everything that happened to him. He was glad that someone from his real family had finally found him but it still hurts a bit.

Thinking about how the Benson family had fed him with lies, told him about how nobody wanted him, which was why they adopted him in the first place.

The recent accusation by the sister he put his own life on the line for. Everything started coming back to him and he felt the anger from the betrayal started creeping up.

“It was the Benson family.” He finally said after a while of silence, he could no longer feel the rain pouring on him and that was when he looked up to see that he also had an umbrella over his head.

“The Benson family?!” Fabio said furiously which led Kai into believing that his grandfather knew the Benson family and must also know why they did what they did to him.

“What did they do?” Fabio’s anger was obvious in his voice, he was seething inwardly and more desperate than ever to make the people that had sealed his grandson’s power away suffer.

His fist clenched as his teeth gritted and as he listened to Kai tell him about how they led him to believe he was sick and would always feed him with a strange medicine, his anger grew even more.

Kai soon finished explaining his ordeal and Fabio’s anger got to a point where he couldn’t control it as the gritting of his teeth grew even louder.

“The Benson family did all that?!” He growled angrily, his voice almost causing an earthquake, “I can’t believe it! I can’t believe them!” He was furious.

“I knew it, I knew something strange was going on under the covers,” Fabio said as he placed a finger under his chin which made him look as if he was lost in thoughts.

“Your disappearance was not an accident, we didn’t lose you! It was a premeditated act, Kai! You were kidnapped and it was planned!” He added with conviction.

“If it hadn’t been planned by the Benson family or someone associated with them then where would they have obtained the secret medicine to seal your powers?” His grandfather finished.

Kai’s anger was building up inside him too as he listened to his grandfather’s theory and all of it just made sense, the dots connected and there wasn't a single loose end.

Kai became even more furious than ever and his determination to get revenge on them only increased. Determined, Kai made up his mind to return to the Benson family for revenge.

Fortunately, the head of the Benson family had passed away unexpectedly without revealing the secret about Kai or the medicine to Nora.

All of them had genuinely believed that Kai needed the medicine to survive but what they didn’t know was the fact that their attempt to cut off his supply had inadvertently helped Kai.

“The Benson family had gone too far, what did they think, that they weren’t going to get caught? Did they think that they could get away with this?!” Fabio was outraged by Kai’s ordeal.

“Or did they think that they could keep the Grant family separated for years on end?” He added furiously, chuckling frustratedly as he paced around.

“I was going to find you by hook or crook, I was going to go to move the heavens and the earth just to make sure that I bring you back to the family, they think they could compete against such determination?” He added.

Kai didn’t say anything as he held his grandfather and looked into his eyes, he told his grandfather how glad he was that they were united.

“I didn’t think I had any family left but then you showed up, I’m more than happy with this.” Kai said and the old man’s eyes glistened with tears.

“You know what, they have to pay! All of them have to pay for everything they put you through.” Fabio said firmly.

“What would you suggest I do?” Kai asked, ready to do everything in his power to make sure that the Benson family regretted their actions.

“You’re going to seek revenge on them but you’d do that without revealing your true identity.” Fabio said and that was exactly what Kai had in mind too.

“The Benson family could not have developed such a medicine on their own; they must have had the support of another mysterious power.” Fabio added.

“This is a conspiracy against the Grant family and you must reveal who is helping them from behind the scenes.”

Why wouldn’t he even thi

Kai finished talking and Lorenzo didn’t say anything, not at first. He couldn’t possibly say anything, not after everything Kai had just said, hitting the nail on the head.Yes, he had been feeling frustrated but he wasn’t a child, he knew that some things were meant for them to face alone without help, and the issue with the portal was one of them but still….…. He can’t help but feel like he has failed himself. He vowed to always be by Kai’s side, promising that he was going to help Kai through everything but how would he do that if he keeps standing behind.“Dang,” Lorenzo shouted before laughing so hard that there were streaks of tears in his eyes, “I look so pathetic that you had to think up a motivational speech for me.” He laughed.“Lorenzo, I—”“I understand,” Lorenzo cut in before Kai could say anything, “and I’ll admit that I was frustrated, but after what you just said, I just want to get even stronger and help in any way I can.” He added.“If Lorenzo gets any stronger than

Kai’s gaze met his grandfather’s who only shrugged, he had no idea whether or not he should tell them and it’s not because he didn’t trust them to keep it a secret but because he didn’t want to laden them with more things to carry. He had only just found out about the divine realm and regardless of the help, and what his grandfather had told him, he had his own doubts because he couldn’t stop thinking about what they were doing when they were in a pinch. They vowed to protect him and Catherine but they had comfortably sat on their own hands and watched as they fought against a realm that’s practically immortal.“Nothing much, I promise,” Kai said, yawning and scratching the back of his head as he laid on the couch so comfortably that the gang almost didn’t want to believe that it was really ‘nothing much’.“We’ve been through too much to let ourselves get bothered by anything else, I know you can feel the energy still cackling in the air….” Kai’s voice trailed off as he smiled.“But r

Their voices rang in unison as they both stared at Fabio with a look of disbelief. What did he mean by ‘they haven’t sensed any life threatening signal from them’?Catherine’s teeth clattered as she recalled everything they went through in the other realm, it had been nothing but life threatening. And at some point, she was convinced they might actually die there. It was a good thing that she believed in Kai, and the people in this realm had faith that they were going to make it back, and if they didn’t, they were ready to come as a rescue team.“That has to be a joke, right? Right?” Catherine asked, her voice guttural, her eyes twitching as anger rolled over her skin, “it’s definitely a joke, or whatever they’re using to check the signal is broken.”“True!” Kai agreed immediately, throwing away the fact that he was supposed to be the strongest. He didn’t care anymore at this point because of what he’d heard Fabio say.“What are you talking about? Everything we went through in that he

She was glad that they’d made it, and when she looked at Kai, chills snaked down her spine. He was watching her through his half open eyes as if she wasn’t real, or something was going to happen if he took his eyes off of her. Something warm spread across Catherine’s stomach and she smiled back at him.Weakness soon started creeping in and her eyes rolled back, the room looked like it was spinning and her legs could barely hold her up anymore.“Fuck.” She muttered as she sank onto the rug near the fireplace, still shaking. The flames painted her face in soft gold, catching the faint streaks of dirt on her cheeks. Her fingers wouldn’t stop trembling, her temples throbbed and she could almost hear her blood gushing so fast that she couldn’t differentiate it from the thumping of her heart.“There,” Teresa said as she crouched beside her, wrapping a blanket around her shou
