Kai was absolutely stunned, he had no idea what was happening and who this man that was calling himself his grandfather was.

“I’ve been…” The old man’s words got stuck in his throat when his gaze fell upon Kai’s blood-covered body, his teeth gritted in anger and his expression twisted with fury.

He was going to ask Kai who did this to him but he scanned the area and was immediately able to deduce that the gang members were the ones responsible for attacking Kai.

He was a ball of pure anger, rage pulsed through his veins and his blood quickened with the raw anger that shot through him.

There’s no way he’s going to let a bunch of thugs go after doing this to his grandson.

With a wave of his hand, the old man signaled his bodyguards, who swiftly surrounded the gang members.

The gang members were trembling in fear, they knew really well that they dared not resist or run away. When Jake had hired them, he didn’t tell them that Kai was the grandson of a powerful person.

Their legs shook in fear and they all swallowed hard as they waited for the fate that awaited them. The old man and the men in black were too scary and well-trained for a small gang of thugs.

The men in black launched into a ruthless assault, mercilessly beating the gang members. Their screams of agony resonated through the air and their throes of pain were vivid.

They stood no chance whatsoever against the assaults, they couldn’t even defend themselves and all they could do was cry and beg for mercy.

“I’m. We—” Kai collapsed on the ground, he was unable to remain standing and the feeling of weakness that took over him was overwhelming, his heart pounded really hard against his chest.

He closed his eyes and waited for what was going to happen next but despite the pain and weakness he was feeling, he also sensed an unfamiliar force slowly restoring his strength.

The pain, fatigue and weakness he felt slowly started to fade away and minutes later, the gang leader, bruised and battered, was dragged before Kai, his face swollen beyond recognition.

The thug was shaking, fear, stark and vivid shone in his eyes while Kai stood high above him, his presence accompanied by a palpable sense of raw power.

Kai gave off an intimidating, merciless aura. His energy was dark, intense and utterly ruthless and even though he hadn’t done anything to the thug, the thug was already yielding to the immense power.

“Who sent you to kill me?” Kai sneered, his aura was one of unrelenting ferocity, exuding a sense of raw intimidating energy and the bruised Thug only trembled.

“Was it Jake Benson?!” Kai demanded, emanating an aura of unyielding strength and dominance, the air around him was so different that even the thug leader couldn’t take it anymore.

“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry, please spare me and I promise that our path will never cross.” The thug bowed his head to Kai, barely able to speak as he pleaded, his words falling out of his mouth as if he was eating something really hot.

“Please forgive me!” He pleaded but Kai’s eyes had already turned red in anger, “It was Jake, He sent us to silence you and told us that you were weak.”

“Jake Benson was the one who told us that you were getting in his way and we should take you out,” The thug leader confessed, “Spare me, please.” He quickly added, not daring to look Kai in the eyes.

Kai trembled with rage, anger rising in him like a tide; he went cold with fury and breathless with utter rage that almost pushed him to the edge.

All he could think about at the moment was how to rest not just these thugs but also the Benson family, a lesson that they wouldn’t forget for as long as they lived.

The old man, however, remained impassive, his eyes devoid of sympathy as he glanced down at the gang members.

He felt nothing but hatred for them, how dare they try to hurt his grandson. His expression was cold, his glare was so piercing that the thugs could feel it.

“You think you can touch my grandson and get away with it?” The man said coldly, he didn’t lose composure or act out of anger as a small, wicked smile that sent chills down the spine of the gang took over his mouth.

With a snap of his finger, the men in black assembled behind him while one of them hurriedly came to stand beside him.

“Get rid of all of them and make their deaths look like an accident.” The old man said coldly without caring.

The thugs, when they heard this, all fell to their knees at once. None of them wanted to die, they regretted ever crossing paths with Kai and even hated the Bensons.

“Please don’t do this,” the leader begged as he kept hitting his head on the ground to atone for his mistake, “I’ll do anything you want, anything, I don’t want to die.”

“We will leave the country, you’d never see us again, please spare us. We’ll also make sure to cut ties with the Bensons, we’ll go off the radar.”

The gang members begged for their lives but the one man’s mind had been made up already and nothing could shake the decision he had made.

While the gangsters begged for their lives, Kai was left in awe and shock by the old man’s ruthless nature, even his eyes were dark and conveyed nothing.

Kai could tell that this man who calls himself his grandfather was not just an important person but also a very powerful man, even more powerful than the Benson’s.

He radiated an energy that made it clear that whenever he walked into a noisy room, the room went silent and everyone stood up for him.

“Let’s pick up where we left off.” The old man said, his expression softening at once as he turned to look at Kai.

There was a look of calmness, adoration and gladness in the old man’s eyes. Looking at Kai caused his cold demeanor to melt into one of quiet excitement.

“I— I still can’t believe my eyes, you really are alive.” The old man said in a calm, yet emotional voice. His eyes also glistened with the tears of joy that he was desperately holding back.

He had come face to face with his grandson after years upon years of searching all over for him.

“My name is Fabio Grant, I am your grandfather, and as surprising as this next information might seem, you, Kai, are the sole heir to the Grant family’s vast fortune.”

Time sped up so fast as they all enjoyed their company, Kai was conflicted, he contemplated telling the guys about what had happened with Catherine, and what he saw last night, but at the same time he didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere.“Kai?” Lorenzo called when he noticed just how deep in thought that Kai had gotten. BACK AT THE GRANT ESTATE.“We can’t tell Kai about this, can we?” Atticus asked, and everyone was silent, neither of them were able to say anything as they stared at the paper in front of them. The silence was a little ominous, they could all feel the sense of foreboding, and it felt like whoever had sent that paper to the front of the Grant’s estate gate had been waiting for the perfect moment. There was a lot of time that they could have struck but for some reason, they had chosen now to send the letter and the day of the charity auction to strike.“Of course we can’t tell Kai,” Teresa responded finally, her voice bringing a halt to the silence as she crumpled the paper and dumped it in the trash with a sigh and a finger running through her hair.“But knowing Kai, there’s a high chance that he would find out even though we don’t say anything.” She sighed again, and even though she was trying to make sure that whatever was going to happen didn’t get to her, there’s no denying that it

“As long as I get to watch you enjoying yourself to your heart’s content, I’ll be alright.” He finished. Those words, as childish and little as they might seem, had hit her right in her chest. He was telling her that she could indulge as much as she wanted and he would always be there not to judge her, but to make sure she’s enjoying herself.“I was just kidding,” Catherine laughed, the butterflies in her stomach fluttering around. “If I ate that much, I’d weigh about 6 million pounds.” She laughed.Kai laughed too before his expression turned serious. “Then I’d have to train my arms and body so that I can lift you up anywhere.”Catherine was enjoying herself so much that she was starting to feel like she was doing something wrong. She laughed wholeheartedly, she was happy, and everything was going so well, until….“Oh, look who it is.” Catherine turned in the direction of the voice the moment she saw Kai’s happiness veered quickly to sadness and then anger. The switch was too quick.
