Chapter 3 : Far Too Weak

An orange hologram suddenly appeared in front of Arthur.

{My son} "Dad?" {This is a record that I have left behind for you. This diary is meant to help you in your journey to completing The Tower.}

{It will be first played in the hologram in front of you, but if you forget anything you could just refer back to the diary.}

{The glass that I left behind for you to break was an early access token, it exists for you and you alone. This tower has existed for a very long time, it had 5 prior versions. The Beta Version and the Alpha Versions. I was in all of the versions and I survived through all of them. Now what you are about to experience is the full version of the tower.}

{Now before I go into further details, let me explain why I sent you here. I want you to kill and made everyone who betrayed me suffer.}

"What…" 'Wait… Dad is asking me to kill people?' { Let me explain.}

{I was in the Beta I, Beta II, Beta III, Alpha I, and Alpha II versions of the tower, and through all of the versions of the tower I have made a lot of friends and comrades who I had to rely on. I even completed the whole tower and I could fulfill my one wish. But I didn't use it just yet. I helped the people in the tower and stuck with my friends, and I met your mother here. You were born in the Tower.}

"Wait what."

{They brought me to our guild. The guild that I founded. And that was where I was stabbed in the back. They drove a sword behind my back and placed runic traps to seal my power. I barely escaped alive. I had to go straight towards the 100th floor that only I have cleared to seek refuge but my power and my strength have already been taken away from me. I took you with me back to Arth, and now you are here. I still can't comprehend why my comrades and loved one would betray and put a curse on me. I want you to make them suffer.} (Authors Note: Arth is alternate reality Earth. And the word holds a secret that you should find.)

Arthur could feel the pain behind the words that his father left behind.

{I will guide you. Through the words I have left behind, I will make you stronger than I was in my prime.}

"Don't worry father. I will kill them, for you." Arthur tightened his fist in anger.

'I thought you had enough problems back on Arth. But never could I imagine that you had to suffer this much.'

{If you broke the glass immediately after I died, It means by the time you are reading you have more than  2 years. But if you have become emo as I imagine then you would only have about 30 days}

"Bruh."

The sad mood was reversed by his father's sudden insult.

{30 days is a bit late but there is a way. You are already ahead of most level 4 players but that's still not enough. You might be ahead of most people. But for the Beta and Alpha version players, you are way behind and some of them could be more powerful than me but I doubt any of them have even reached the 97th floor.}

{In 30 days everyone in the universe will be teleported here. So just follow my instructions and everything should be just fine.}

{If you look back at your status, it is not bad since I put through all those martial arts classes, and gym training. But you are still an amateur in most of the martial arts. But trust me. You don't lack skills, you are perfect in your martial arts. But what you lack is talent. Your talent is all in your communication.  But that is all fine since you could get skill and also stat points when you level up so that is the least of your problems. You could also break down your skill to get more skill points}

{Now the first thing I want you to do is to find a shield. There should be a lot of shields in this cave.}

Arthur wasted no time and found a shield that was on top of a pile of discarded weapons and picked it up.

{Good, now say "Inspect"}

"Inspect" Suddenly hologram shined from the shield.

[This item is trash. It is too small for you to block many attacks. Choose a bigger one.] The recording of his father scolded Arthur.

Arthur looked around for the biggest shield that he could find and he found a square-shaped one lying against the wall in the large cave. It was made out of wood and the side was made out of old brown iron.

"Inspect."

[IGNORES ALL LVL 1 ATTACKS IF BLOCKED.]

"This will reduce my speed, I should better find a better one."

{Good choice son! Although this shield would reduce your speed and agility, the size could block more attacks and increase your chances of survival. Only an idiot would pass on such a decent item in the tutorial.}

"Uhhhh"

{Now since you already have a shield, find as much armor as you can find. It does not matter what the stat is, just make sure it doesn't have any curse on it. Get as much armor as you can to cover your entire body.}

Arthur spent a whole hour finding armor in the cave. And he finally found a rusty helmet a leather chest armor and some leg protection.

{That should be good enough for your armor! You should have +6 Defense points from the armor which means weapons that deal 6 Attack Damage won't hurt you one bit! But if a creature uses their legs or fist to attack you make sure you have more strength than them or else you will receive damage from them.}

{Now all you need to do is find yourself a good sturdy spear. That would be the most effective weapon for the tutorial.}

"A spear? But he made me train in swordsmanship. I know nothing about spearmanship!"

Arthur decided to put his faith in his father's recording since he didn't have any knowledge about the tower.

{Good choice! It might lower your speed further but safety first!] [Now for the last thing is to find a  deformed stone sword with stone piled around it. Do not use it for now and just keep it in your inventory. And don't forget to bring the smoothest stone that you can find around the sword! }

Arthur went ahead and found the sword that his father was referring to but…

"What the heck is this?"

"What a pity… if this sword did even 1 damage I would consider it a good weapon just because it is unbreakable but this doesn't do any amount of damage."

He tried carrying it to pull it to the inventory but it was too heavy for him.

"It is much heavier than it looks…"

Arthur was astonished by the weight of the sword. He had to deadlift it just to put it in the inventory.

{It seems you are still far too weak. You will be ready when you can move around this sword with ease.}
