Looking at the incoming flame arrow, both Jaraal and Uncle khaan looked solemn.  

Uncle Khaan was seriously injured from the earlier explosion and he was unable to mobilize his Spiritual qi in his body to defend against the incoming attack, so the burden falls on Jaraal.
