Elric, who had just been about to take another bite of his bread, suddenly became awkward.

He glanced at the girl in front of him, then looked down, playing with the bread wrapper. "It's okay. No need to thank me."

"How can that be? You saved me," the girl retorted, leaning forward and even grabbing Elric's hand to hold it.

Elric suddenly became even more awkward. His body stiffened, and his eyes widened in surprise. "You—"

He tried to pull his hand away, but the girl held it and said, "If it weren't for you, I would have lost my bag. It contains not only money, but also my cell phone and ID card. It's very important."

"Thank you. I'm really grateful to you. Can you tell me your name and home address so I can visit you?" she asked.

When this question was asked, Elric managed to pull his hand away and cleared his throat briefly. "No need. I'm fine."

"Ah." The girl suddenly changed her expression to a gloomy one. "I'm sorry I was too late to help you, so those three men accused you. You helped me, but I ended up putting you in an embarrassing situation."

Elric suddenly didn't know how to respond.

He could only stare at the girl in front of him in confusion.

Apparently, her expression changed remarkably quickly.

And he had no experience in this matter.

It wasn't that he didn't want to tell her his home address, but he currently didn't have a home. How could he tell her the truth?

"I know I'm a strange woman for daring to act like this towards a man I just met. But to me, you are my savior," said the girl, suddenly looking at Elric seriously.

Elric could only nod slowly, pretending to understand.

"If I can't visit your house, how about we have dinner together?" The girl became excited. She looked at the bread Elric was holding. "It's just a piece of bread, you must not be full yet, right? Come on! I'll take you to my favorite restaurant."

Without waiting for Elric's approval, the girl got up and pulled his hand. But Elric held back. "Wait. I can't go with you."

The girl immediately turned around and asked, "Why?"

"I still have some things to do," replied Elric.

After that, he tidied up his bread and drink, then took his bag and ran away. "You can go by yourself. Goodbye."

"See you, savior!" the girl shouted, waving her hand.

Inevitably, she could only stare at Elric's departure as he was swallowed by the darkness of the night. "We'll definitely meet again."

Meanwhile, Elric, who had been walking, finally stopped at a dimly lit bus stop.

He put down his bag and sat leaning against it, looking at the deserted street in front of him.

"Looks like I'll have to sleep here tonight," he said with a long sigh.

Then he adjusted his bag and lay down there. He pulled his black coat tighter to ward off the cold wind. His eyes blinked slowly, and before closing them, he cursed, "Damn system! You liar!"

"Don't you see the sign there? We don't accept beggars. Get out of here!" snapped the owner of a fried chicken shop.

Elric tried to smile, even though it seemed stiff. "I'm not a beggar."

"What do you mean you're not a beggar? Who are you trying to fool, huh? Get out of here before I get violent!" The pot-bellied man pushed Elric away from his business.

But Elric, whose goal was to find a job, couldn't just leave. He stood up straight and said firmly, "I came here to be your employee."

Suddenly, the owner of the fried chicken restaurant stared at him suspiciously. "You?"

Elric nodded firmly.

"Damn beggar! You bastard! I will never be fooled by you! Go! Go away! Do you think you can fool me? Go!" The man took a broom and hit Elric fiercely.

In the end, Elric could only leave in frustration. He wanted to fight back, but remembered the system that forbade him from showing emotion.

He moved on to another place, but the same thing happened again.

The third time, Elric was prepared to be insulted and kicked out, but instead, he was accepted.

"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and change your clothes." The woman who owned the fish shop looked at him strangely. "You're not stupid, are you?"

"Oh, no," Elric replied quickly.

"Then why are you still standing there? Hurry up and change your clothes before I change my mind," said the fish shop owner curtly.

Elric nodded. "Okay."

When he finished changing clothes and was about to ask about his job, a customer arrived, prompting him to approach immediately.

"What do you need?" asked Elric.

The customer slowly turned and was surprised. "Elric? You are Elric, right?"

Not only was the woman wearing the maid uniform surprised, but Elric was also even more surprised.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

The maid was one of the maids at Evelyn's house. And Elric was reluctant to deal with them again. So he didn't answer, but turned to go back inside.

"Elric, do you work here?" Unfortunately, the maid held his hand and asked seriously. "Did you fall into poverty in an instant?"

"It's none of your business," Elric said, pulling his hand away.

"If you have no business here, leave this place immediately," Elric continued.

The maid's expression turned angry.

Just as Elric was at the door, the maid shouted, "I just want to buy some fish, why are you chasing me away?"

"Does this place have special treatment for certain people? I know I'm just a maid, but I came here as a customer. If you really don't want to sell me your fish, say so, don't insult me, let alone chase me away!"

"What did I do wrong?" Suddenly, the maid's body collapsed. She sat down weakly, sobbing softly. "In my whole life, this is the first time I've been treated like this. Even though I'm a regular customer here."

Elric's body froze.

When he turned around, a crowd had gathered around the fish shop where she worked.

Everyone was whispering and mocking him as they pointed at him.

He became anxious.

However, when he approached, the shop owner came rushing from the other direction to help the maid to her feet.

"Ma'am, it's not like she said—"

"Shut up!" snapped the shop owner.

“Him! He hit me and even almost assaulted that innocent girl!” The middle-aged man in the black leather jacket pointed at Elric angrily. His voice rose. Veins bulged on his neck and temples, showing just how emotional he was at that moment. “Officer, please give us justice! Punish this man to the fullest extent of the law! He shouldn’t be hiding behind his uniform! His presence could endanger many people.”“No! It’s not him, it’s you—” The woman who had been slapped earlier retorted just as loudly. However, his feet continued to move forward until he reached the cashier's desk. "Excuse me."A woman wearing a uniform looked up and smiled sweetly.
