"Oh, so you're Alaric? Sorry, I didn't recognize you. I've been waiting for you. I thought you weren't coming today." Then the girl ran around the cashier's desk and held out her hand in front of Elric. "Nice to meet you, my name is Selene Avaris. You can call me Selene."

Elric awkwardly shook her hand. "Sorry, but my name is Elric."

Selene was taken aback. But she quickly chuckled. "Sorry for making a mistake on our first day meeting. Elric, nice to meet you."

"Yeah." Elric, who was basically a shy and awkward guy, couldn't respond to Selene's cheerfulness.

He could only answer casually without looking at her.

To him, Selene's cheerfulness seemed to drain his energy. He couldn't keep up with her.

"Go to the warehouse to change your clothes. I'll explain your duties later," Selene said.

"Okay." Elric walked away quickly.

Selene watched him leave with a big smile, then returned to her place with burning enthusiasm. Apparently, she was very happy to have a new friend.

A few moments later, Elric returned wearing the typical minimarket vest. He awkwardly approached Selene and said, "I'm done."

"Oh? Wow, you're so handsome. Elric, you should be a model, not a convenience store clerk," Selene quipped.

Elric smiled stiffly.

"What should I do?" Elric asked, changing the subject.

"Um, what should you do?" Selene looked around while thinking. "Just tidy up the products on the shelves."

"Here, I'll show you." Selene nimbly walked to the nearest shelf and neatly demonstrated. "You do it like this. Ensure that all products are aligned at the back. And if there are only a few left, move them forward."

"Do you understand?"

"Yes," Elric replied firmly.

After that, he tried it on the products next to Selene, making the girl smile widely because this new employee was quick to learn. "Elric, you're amazing."

Elric glanced at her and replied softly, "Thank you."

As he continued his work, Selene leaned against the shelf next to him, watching him with an unfading smile.

After a while, Elric began to feel uncomfortable. So he reprimanded her. "Is it okay to leave the cash register unattended for so long?"

"Oh?" Selene, who had been caught, immediately became flustered.

Then she ran away, making Elric shake his head slowly.

He clutched his stomach, which felt hungry, then turned to the shelves filled with bread inside the minimarket. "Ah, never mind. It's more important to find a place to live first."

He walked away while playing with his cell phone, looking for cheap boarding houses.

However, because there were too many results, he chose to sit on a chair on the side of the road, choosing a house that was more strategic and suited to his condition.

"Why isn't there anything cheap?" he muttered softly. "At least I need it until next month. But I don't have enough money."
