Beast Cultivation Path

Lin Yuan walked to his home, rubbing the shell of the baby turtle. On the way, he slowly recalled the memories of Lin Yuan to learn more about the cultivation of the beasts.

‘I see. There are fifteen core beasts, and many other uncommon beasts which can be helpful for boosting the cultivation process with their beast cores.’ Lin Yuan thought, his eyes widening.

“What is the grade of this turtle beast? Is it Legendary or Divine?” Lin Yuan asked himself, his eyes filled with anxiety and curiosity. He tried to figure it out through his memories. But he just found it was an uncommon beast, but Lin Yuan’s instincts said that turtle was not a normal beast.

“Tskk….” Lin Yuan clicked his tongue with disappointment, dismissing the weird thoughts from his mind and continued his walk towards his house. “I don’t waste time thinking. Uncommon or Divine, whatever it is, I will catch different types of beasts according to my affinity and become stronger by this so-called Beast Cultivation.”

After a long walk, Lin Yuan reached his home. Instantly, he rushed towards his father. Lin Zhentian is in the courtyard, sitting on a rock. He was cultivating with his beast — Five-Tailed Fox.

Lin Zhentian’s core beast is Nine-Tailed Fox, and as he was in Core Beast Realm - Mid Stage cultivation, the beast evolution stage is at Five-Tailed Fox. The beasts in this cultivation world evolve along with the ascension of the cultivation stage.

As Lin Zhentian heard the footsteps of Lin Yuan; he slowly opened his eyes. An angry grin meticulously crawled across his face. Lin Zhentian didn’t like his younger son, as he was unfit for cultivation, and for being a remark for the Qing Clan. Lin Zhentian eyes sluggishly darted towards the turtle in Lin Yuan hands

“Why are you here? And what’s with that baby turtle in your hands?” Lin Zhentian grinned, his voice rattled with slight irritation across the courtyard.

“Sorry for the trouble, father. I am here to show my beast.” Lin Yuan apologised, but his expression was devoid of fear and worry. 

“This is my beast. I awakened my cultivation pathway. It is the Turtle pathway, father. I am at Baby Beast Realm - Lower Stage now…” Lin Yuan explained to his father in excitement. “I can start cultivate on my own from now–”

“Pathetic…” Lin Zhentian interrupted. “You are excited by attaining a cultivation on your own. And it's the turtle… it was just an uncommon beast. How can one's core essence be an uncommon beast? Self cultivation is already weak and you are saying your cultivation beast is a miserable uncommon beast. You are failure and you are a black mark for the Qing Clan”

“Fath—” 

“Don’t dare to speak in front of me. Get out and do anything. I don’t care a shit about it! Don’t dare to disturb my cultivation again.” Lin Zhentian muttered, waving his hand in a gesture of dismissal.

Lin Yuan bowed in the traditional way, and walked to the exit of the courtyard. Mei Xue was standing aside near the courtyard entrance, his eyes frowned but she couldn't rebel against her husband. Lin Yuan sluggishly walked out with a pale smile on his elegant face. 

Lin Zhentian was angry because no one in this cultivation world has an uncommon beast as a core essence. But Lin Yuan showed an uncommon beast to his father, saying it was his beast. And Self cultivation after being rejected by ‘River of Origin’ is the weakest way of cultivation. Lin Zhentian was fixated that his younger son is a misfit for the cultivation and a waste of Qing Clan.

‘Why was he so arrogant?’ Lin Yuan thought, his eyes frowning. 

Lin Yuan let out a sarcastic laugh, because a weird thought passed into his mind. ‘A forty-year old man is yelling at me — A fifty-year old man.’

“He said pathetic right…” Lin Yuan smirked with a pale, angry grin. “But, yeah. How can I become stronger using this miserable uncommon beast?”

“As I got this turtle and figured out my cultivation pathway, I thought I am lucky in this new world, but… I don’t know how to become strong enough to tame other beasts using this small, cute turtle beast as my core beast.” Lin Yuan grunted, his voice as low as a whisper.

Lin Yuan's eyes clinked with a sudden thought. 

“First I will catch a few weaker beasts like Rank 1 or 2 Uncommon beasts to increase my beast essence.” Lin Yuan whispered, his voice sounded like a rumble.

“Humph…” Lin Yuan exhaled in relief. “Now how can I cultivate using this beast?”

‘This brat has some basic knowledge about cultivation.’ Lin Yuan thought, seeing his own body.

A faint memory of Lin Yuan’s father saying about the beast cultivation to Lin Yuan and his brother in the past flushed in.

“A Beast Cultivator has one Main Core Beast which defines their aperture affinity. As the Cultivator ascends into further realms, the beast also evolves with him. To Cultivate one’s beast, they need to feed the beast with its loved food. One can also boost the process of cultivation using some items like Essence Stones, Spirit Herbs, Beast Cores, Beast Blood Essence and Refinement Pills.” Lin Zhentian explained, his eyes darting from Lin Fengyu to Lin Yuan.

“Keep Beast Blood Essence and Refinement Pills aside as they aren't available rather than Sect Refinement Halls and Clan Inventories. One can use the other 3 for boosting their cultivation, but it is not as fast as cultivating through feeding the core beast. And mainly beast cores are obtained from killing the uncommon beasts, but they only can help with some increase in beast essence. Beast Essence is nothing but the energy in your aperture, which is the most crucial part in cultivation. According to the percentage of beast essence one can ascend to higher stages in a realm or to higher realms.” Lin Zhentian continued explaining, seeing their both sons yawning due to the boring lecture.

“Don’t yawn brats,” Lin Zhentian snapped his fingers, making a loud sound. “This information is important to understand ‘Beast Cultivation’.”

“But father, we will learn once we get a pathway…” Lin Fengyu muttered with a pale look on his face.

“Shut up and listen,” Lin Zhentian shouted, his eyes narrowing. ”Uncommon beasts are also ranked from one to six. The improvement will be best for higher rank uncommon beasts’ cores.”

“Mostly the food required for your core beasts is dependent upon its nature,” Lin Zhentian continued. “I will explain about that when you get a core beast.”

“Damn…” Lin Yuan grunted, rubbing his temples. “This information is more than enough. This brat’s memories saved my ass.”

‘As this is a turtle, I think food like moss, grass, mushrooms… are more than enough,’ Lin Yuan thought, a faint smirk crawling on his lips.

Lin Yuan jolted his head slightly, and started walking towards the mountain path to find some food.

“I am at Baby Beast Realm - Lower Stage.” Lin Yuan whispered to the mountain while walking, his eyes darting from left to right, searching for the food. “How much time will it take to ascend to the Spirit Beast Realm?”

‘I think it’s a time taking process, as I have a weak beast,’ Lin Yuan thought immediately.

As Lin Yuan darted his eyes to the left, under the trunk of a large oak tree, Lin Yuan found a pair of Small Mushrooms — which is the Low-Tier food helpful for his turtle.

“Found it!” Lin Yuan yelled in excitement. “I found a pair of Small Mushrooms. I think they might be helpful food for my turtle beast.”

Lin Yuan held his turtle carefully, and sprinted towards the trunk of the tree. He bent down and meticulously plucked the two mushrooms from the ground. He rose steadily, his eyes skimming through all the sides finding a place to sit. And ten paces away, a flat stone surface was visible to Lin Yuan. 

Lin Yuan slowly walked towards the stone surface, holding the turtle gently in one hand and feeding the turtle with mushrooms in another hand. The turtle ate mushrooms happily, even though it's a beast, Lin Yuan felt the happiness of the beast eating mushrooms. And sat on that stone, after the turtle ate mushrooms, he slowly held the turtle in his hands, closing his eyes to concentrate on his cultivation.

‘Beast cultivation is also like mana flow,’ Lin Yuan thought, his past life memories(Noir’s memories) surged into his brain. ‘First one should create a bond with the beast… rather than just treating it as a normal pawn for the cultivation. Same as mana, if you reach magic with your heart. It will obey your order.’

Lin Yuan slowly soothed the turtle’s shell with his right hand’s thumb finger. The turtle felt the warmth of Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan’s aperture was pale hollow at start, and now it slowly started to shimmering light-green as minutes passed. The turtle was responding to his aperture. And precisely, the beast essence in his aperture increased to 1.5%.

“Success!” Lin Yuan shrieked with joy, placing his head on the turtle's head. “You are a magnificent turtle. Yes, you are slow but not weak.”

“I decided, turtle,” Lin Yuan whispered, his eyes fixed on the turtle. “I will tame many beasts along with you to help my cultivation process. I will try to create a bond with every beast I acquire, if they deny my kindness I don’t hesitate to be lethal. This time, I will not compromise or spend my whole life doing some shitty experiment and die with regret.”

“Now I need to find a way to hide this turtle. I can't always carry this turtle in my hands.” Lin Yuan said to himself, his eyes filled with unknown expressions.

Lin Yuan closed his eyes scrupulously, and tried to command the turtle beast to fuse into his body. 

1… 2… 3…

After 3 seconds, the turtle reacted to Lin Yuan’s will and turned into a golden-green ring with turtle-shell diamond on it. Lin Yuan walked to his home with the pure excitement of his success on first attempt. Because Lin Yuan a.k.a Noir in previous life never had this feeling: ‘Success’

“I will become the Strongest Beast Cultivator in this world! Even if it takes my lifetime, but this time I will live my life as whole!” Lin Yuan whispered to the Qing Feng mountain, the silent evening chirping with the humming of birds.
