Chapter 1
Chapter one; intimidated.
I knocked on my wife’s door, waiting for her to give me permission to come in. But instead, silence greeted me.
I know, husbands and wives are meant to share a room and a bed, but that isn’t the case for Nora and me. We’ve been married for four years, but this is where our marriage has ended up. Four years ago, everything was different. I can vividly remember the last day of college when Nora approached me, confessing her feelings for me, which left me stunned because she was a wealthy girl from an opulent background. Compared to me, I was just a penniless orphan with nothing to offer her. As our relationship grew, her family began to despise me for being poor and lacking prospects. Initially, Nora stood by me, but the pressure on her became unbearable. And Eventually, she broke down. Things began to take a turn as every day became a reminder of how useless and worthless I was to her. I still didn’t give up. I tried countless businesses, determined to prove I could be a better man, But as time passed, Nora grew distant. Now, four years later, I find myself standing outside her door, feeling more like a roommate than a husband. “Come in!” she yelled, her tone loud, cutting through my thoughts. I hesitated before stepping inside. The room was filled with the scent of makeup—lipsticks, powders, and perfumes scattered across the table. Nora sat in front of the mirror, applying a bold red lipstick, her gaze focused on her reflection. “You need to get ready,” she said, not bothering to look at me. “In an hour, a driver will come pick us up.” “Why?” I asked. She rolled her eyes, exasperated. “Really? You forgot about Grandma’s eightieth birthday?” “Oh,” I mumbled. Work had been overwhelming, and I barely remembered anything. But my heart sank at the thought of going. I didn't want to face her family, who treated me as an affront to their status. All I would receive were insults and reminders of my worthlessness. Nora turned to face me, her eyes narrowing. " I got you clothes, I dont want you looking broke and worn out" I frowned unsure if I should take it an insult.... But i kept my cool. --- As the car pulled up in front of the grand estate, I glanced up at the enormous mansion, a looming testament to wealth. Laughter and music spilled from inside the mansion, the air filled with the scent of expensive perfume and gourmet food. Nora stepped out first, radiating confidence. I followed behind her as we both stepped in. The moment we entered, the atmosphere shifted because all eyes were now on me, gazing at me with hate and disgust. “Look who decided to grace us with his presence,” Nora’s mother, Mrs. Thompson, sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. “Mr. Ethan, the penniless orphan who thinks he’s a man. How quaint.” She spoke as laughter erupted from the nearby crowd. “Honestly, Nora,” Nora's Aunt Rebecca chimed in. “You could have done so much better than this….this fool.” She glanced at me, clearly irritated by my presence. “You’re wasting your life on a man who can’t provide a penny for you? Ugh, the thought of it makes me furious,” she spoke shaking her head before walking away. I could see some nearby guest whispering to themselves, their eyes darting toward me, eying me from head to toe as if I were covered in dirt. Nora’s cousin, Adrian, stepped forward, smirking. “No, let me ask him,” he said, glancing around the crowd before turning to face me. “What’s the plan, huh? Are you going to charm us into investing in your failed businesses? Or is this just another scheme to get your hands on Nora’s inheritance?” I clenched my fists, trying to suppress my reaction because each word felt like a punch to the gut. “Gold digger!” someone shouted from the back, and the crowd erupted in laughter again. “You really think you belong here? You're nothing but a bastard!” I stood frozen, humiliation flooding my veins. “Why don’t you just admit it? You’re too proud to accept that you’re a nobody,” Adrian taunted, leaning closer. “You think you can fool us into believing you’ll be successful? Newsflash: you’re just wasting our time.” As the laughter swelled, my heart felt like it was shattering. I glanced at Nora; her face was a mix of frustration and embarrassment, but she remained silent. It wasn't like she was on my side either. I took a deep breath, trying to swallow the humiliation, but I could no longer bear it. Without another second wasted, I turned on my heel to walk away, but I felt a hard grip on my shoulder. With rage boiling through my veins, I slowly turned back, fists clenched at my sides. "Where the hell do you think you're going, loser? Do you think we’re done with you yet?" Adrian laughed, looking away from me, back to the crowd, who stood watching, amused. "We might as well have some fun with him, right?" he said, and the crowd laughed mockingly again. No Way! I couldn't take it anymore. Just before Adrian turned back to me, I threw a hard punch to his face, sending him crashing to the ground. As he fell, silence enveloped the room. The laughter faded, replaced by shocked gasps and wide eyes. Mrs. Thompson’s face turned red, her eyes blazing with fury. “How dare you!” she growled..Expand

Ex-husband's Sweetest Revenge. All mum…
Luckily, just as I was dealing with the arrogant receptionist, my attention was drawn to a figure entering the mall. This man exuded power; everyone turned to look at him, some trying to maintain their composure, just like the receptionist, whose pride faltered for a moment.A smile crept across my face as an idea clicked in my mind. I had no time to waste, but I refused to let that moron get away with his mockery.Just as I was about to approach the powerful newcomer, I noticed a group of men in black suits rushing through the entrance. There were six of them, and as their eyes locked onto me, a chill ran down my spine—I knew they were there to kill me.I turned to run, but the unmistakable sound of gunfire echoed through the mall as they fired at me.“Bang! Bang!”I kept running without looking back, needing to find a safe place as people screamed and scattered in every direction, shopping bags flying as panic set in. I whipped out my gun, dashing toward a nearby store. Inside, I du

Ex-husband's Sweetest Revenge. Again.
As I fought with the decision, the bike swerved slightly, reminding me of the risks and dangers around me.My heart raced not just from fear but from the uncertainty of who I could trust.“What if this is a trap?” I thought, recalling every moment of deceit I’d encountered with Marcus. Why did Marcus want me dead? Was he the one who had killed my father? While still contemplating, my phone began to buzz again, consistently this time.I answered, placing the phone to my ear when I heard Josh call to me. “Ethan,” he said, and I fell silent, unable to speak because there was something unfamiliar about Josh's voice—he sounded a bit desperate, or at least that’s what I thought.I took a deep breath before answering him, keeping my eyes on the road.“Josh!” I said, trying to mask the panic in my voice.“Where are you?!” he demanded, urgency echoing louder through the speaker.“I’m on the highway,” I replied. “I heard what happened. Are you okay? Are you hurt?” He asked, and I felt a sudden

Ex-husband's Sweetest Revenge. Bang!!!
“Over there! It’s him!” one of them yelled, and I felt my heart drop as they charged toward me.I needed to hide—there was no way I could take on six armed men.But just before I could retreat, I spotted a metal pipe on the ground. It wouldn’t do much against guns, but I had to try.I crouched behind the wall, clutching the pipe tightly, my breath quickening as I listened to the approaching footsteps.Suddenly, one of the men lunged forward, gun raised and aimed directly at me. In a split second, I wiped the gun aside with the pipe, the metal clanging against the weapon. Before he could react, I smashed the pipe into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.As he stumbled back, I instinctively used his body as a shield, feeling the bullets whizz past me. I began to panic again, but I kept my focus. With a quick glance, I saw the fallen gun on the ground. I bent low, snatching it up just as the remaining men regrouped and aimed their weapons in my direction.I squeezed the trigger, f

Ex-husband's Sweetest Revenge. Danger!
“How much is it?”“Let’s just say your father was a quadrillionaire, which means—” he said, brow raised. “Are you for real? Am I a quadrillionaire?” I asked as he nodded. “Yes, Ethan, you are. But I trust that you will be able to multiply that over the years, with your new company and others to come. I believe you will make triple that in the next few months,” Marcus said, picking up his phone because it had just buzzed with a text.“Hold on, I have to make a quick call,” he said, getting to his feet to leave. In the few times I had been with Marcus, he wouldn’t step out to make a phone call if he wasn’t hiding something from me.Thankfully, I had all I needed right now, and all I had to do was find my way forward, away from this mess.I stood up to leave as well, but when I got to the door, I paused.I could hear Marcus speaking to someone on the phone again; this time his tone was lower because he obviously didn’t want me to hear him.I leaned in closer, pressing my ear to the doo

No one knows the password except me,” he said.“Well, let’s just say I have my ways. Now let’s talk business,” I said, immediately diverting the topic. “About my father’s company, I’m here for the documents,” I said, and I watched a kind of emotion cross his face—not the kind I expected; he was completely pleased by my words.“Sure, I know you’re still mad at me for pulling that stunt on you, but I had to get you in a way you weren’t expecting,” he said, searching for the documents on his desk while I ignored him.All I wanted was to get the hell out of there.“Here,” he said, handing me a file—one that resembled the one he carried the first time I encountered him. It was the same.“Here are all the documents you need

“Uh, about that, I, um,” I stuttered, unable to find the right words when I heard a knock on the door.“Who is it?” Marcus asked. “It’s me, sir. I have an urgent message for you,” came an unfamiliar voice, that of a lady.Marcus pressed a button on the controller to let her in.Once the door opened, my eyes caught sight of a brown-haired, middle-aged lady. She glanced up at me, her eyes flickering in shock, but she immediately masked it with a smile.“Good day, sir,” she greeted, and I nodded, wondering if she knew about Marcus’s plan or if there was something else in the way she looked at me.“Sir, we have news on the Orions. They were spotted boarding their private jets,” the lady said, handing Marcus some pictures while she handed me some as well.I took them from her, even though my initial plan was to get out of there. I needed to play things safe for my own life.I glanced at the pictures. It showed a man wearing sunglasses, with black hair and a black coat, alongside a woman
