FEDERICK'S POV

The gentle light illuminated the darkness in the room, and I stared to look at Garry, who was right beside me.

"Did you see that?" I asked, trying to see if he saw exactly what I was seeing.

"See what?" Garry asked, walking away from me. "It is a rough night, Freddie. I might need to go to bed now. Why don't we continue this conversation tomorrow? We also need to see Marcus and tell him you lost the chip."

The way Garry had said it made my stomach churn in anger. It was not my fault, and I didn't lose it on purpose.

[ DING! ]

[ SYSTEM MESSAGE;]

My heart beat faster, pumping more blood than usual. Isn't that what the heart does?

I waited, and everything went white, making my face pale. One thing was certain: I was nothing without the system. Most of the money won from my tasks was used in the school.

I needed to get myself textbooks, a laptop and educational things, making the funds not enough. But this time, it was huge, assuming I had finished the task and unc

FEDERICK'S POV My heartbeat was alarming, and at the same time, I tried to keep it calm and steady. I don't know what the system was going to ask of me. I think this was the first time I really anticipated the next task. Garry looked at me and noticed I looked like shit. "Are you okay?" He asked, staring at my face."Why?" I asked, staring back at him. "Is there something on my face?" "No, but you looked like you have seen a ghost." Garry said something back at me, and we both laughed even though I got agitated. "If this is about the USB you lost. Then you don't need to blame yourself too much. I am sure Marcus would not mind that much." Garry said, looking at me. I didn't even think much about losing the USB flash drive. Telling Marcus was a piece of cake, although I knew he would be mad at me. We were supposed to start our training session the following morning, but I think I will pass. My body was still sore from the fight we had with Damian and God knows who else came with

FEDERICK'S POV I still don't understand what the system meant, but I wasn't bothered. Once the money kept pouring in, there was nothing to bother about. I grabbed my backpack, locked the door and walked out of the room. I met Garry at the garage already waiting for me. He was surprised to see that some of my bruises were gone. " What did you do? I could have sworn you had a bit of..." Garry asked, stunned. I knew he was right. I threw my car key at him, trying to buy myself some time. " No way!" He shouted, looking at me and back at the car. "You are driving, Garry." I said with a smile on my face. Garry got behind the wheel and drove us out of the compound. As we journeyed towards the school ground. My phone chimed, and I saw it was a message from Marcus."Did we get the bastard?" I looked at the message, and I was not sure of what to type back to him. "You need to tell him, Frederick. You can't keep hiding things from him. Remember he lost one of his workers because he trie

FEDERICK'S POVDamian walked closer to me with his head pitched against mine. Most of the students gathered round us, shouting and chanting our names. "I don't know what you are hiding, Damain, but trust me, you don't want any of these kids knowing exactly what it is." "I am going to make you disappear, Freddie. If you think you can be a pain in the ass, then I am just going to make sure you leave here and never come back." Damian said amidst the noise. "Why do you make me?" I snapped at him.We were about to throw some fists when I heard a whistle right behind us. We both turned immediately to see our sport master, who was walking towards us. "Boys!" He shouted as he got closer. "If this is war between you two, then I love it!" Mr. Benson shouted, looking at the student who roared again with joy on their faces. "Why don't we make this a terms football competition between Freddie's team and Damian's? I am sure a lot of the students are dying to witness the competition, right?"

Damian's pov The school bubbled with excitement at the thought of having a football match against Frederick's teams. I know it was more than a football match. It was a duel of power and of course the undying truth between us both. I didn't cripple Georgia but Dully did. But I was going to make Fred pay for trying to weaken my authority within the university ground. I have seen the way the kids looked at me. Most were not scared anymore. I need to instill the fear back into them. I need this! Father had given me one more chance or he was going to allow Dully take over my life. Funny thing about being a twin with the same face. " What should be done?" Ethan asked staring at me. " We have what it takes to beat that dimwit. Gathered the top footballers in the school before he makes a move. I want all the best players here lined up before me." I ordered " Okay, Damain." Ethan said winking at Aiden. They were the most loyal people I have ever came across or maybe because Dul

FEDERICK'S POV "Is this everyone?" I asked, staring at Garry. "What? Do you want more? This is everyone I could find. They are those who have a vendetta against Damain." Garry said into my ears. "I need footballers, Garry. Not just people who have issues with Damian. We need to win this." I said, looking at the bunch of chaps right in front of me."You are losing focus, Freddie." Garry said with a snap of his fingers. "Do you want to win, or do you want us to hatch our plan? I think you might need to choose one." "What if I want to win? Someone needs to shut Damian out for good. I don't see anyone volunteering." I replied with a cold and icy gaze."Then maybe you need to see your priorities right, Fred. We can't have two at a time. Remember we are men on a mission." Garry said reminding me what the initial goal was. "Okay. Let's stick to the plan, but if there is a chance that we can win this thing, then I want to." I replied. I looked at their faces, and I could see the determi

Marcu's POV I felt my body burn with anger. Maybe I shouldn't have trusted Fred like I did. One of my workers just died. How could he be careless with the USB?I picked my phone up on the table in front of me and looked at it again. I had risked everything to help him, and now this. This shows he was not capable.I tried to call his line several times again, but I couldn't reach him. Maybe I need to do this on my own. It was his battle as it was now mine. If only I had abstained from him. She wouldn't have died. My fist clenched the wall in anger, and my receptionist ran inside, opening the door without knocking. I flashed my eye at her in anger. "What have I always told you, Ireti!" I lashed at her in anger. "I am sorry, boss." Ireti said with her head down. "I heard a loud thud, and I came to check up on you. I didn't know you were training." She said not understanding the turmoil that was building inside of me. I have asked her to take Zee's shift since she was dead. Most of

Marcus Pov I hid behind the door in anticipation to see who was going to walk right through it. My muscles were a bit tensed as my gaze was sharpened. Then I see him. A black hooded man walked through and started to inspect the room. At first I wanted to have him jumped, but then I saw the batch. A police batch. It was glued to his side. I knew I was in trouble if I was caught, so I stealthily walked out from where I had camped with a stick I had taken earlier from the ground.I can't afford to fight again. I could feel some broken bones in my body I needed to attend to, but I needed to find the killer first before I treated my wounds. Zed deserves that at least. I was about to get to the hoodie man when I stepped on a broken piece of wood. The man looked back, and our gaze met. I wanted to run, but he brought out his gun. "Don't move!" He shouted, walking toward me. "Hands in the air." I immediately dropped the stick in my hands and raised my hands like some criminal. I curs

Marcus Pov James and I crouched before the stained floor. "Can you guess whose blood this is?" He asked, looking at me. "We were four that night, although we later became five." I replied. "Five?" James said, his gaze leaving the floor. His gaze was furrowed as he looked at me. "Yes, five. Fred was in danger. The other guy had him while I had to battle this guy that I was fighting with." "Which guy? Did you see his face?" James asked again. "No, I didn't. He had a black hoodie on just like the one you are having now. I initially thought it was him when you entered. I would have jumped you if I hadn't seen the badge." I replied. "So you didn't see your fighter?" I nodded. "The last fighter came at the nick of time just to help us. I think he is a friend and not an enemy." I replied, my gaze going back to the floor. "Then it is safe to assume that the blood might belong to any of you, then." James said getting a pair of gloves from his pocket. "Yes, that is right." I said, rub

Damian’s POVThe voice on the other end of the line was gruff and cautious. “Who’s this?”“It doesn’t matter,” I replied calmly, still staring at his profile. His name was Axel. A third-year engineering student with a reputation for breaking bones and rules. Expelled once, readmitted after his father, a powerful politician, pulled strings. He was the kind of ally I needed—strong, feared, and without conscience.“What matters is what I can offer you,” I continued. “Money. Protection. Power. But we need to meet. Today.”There was a short pause, then a dark chuckle. “Meet me at the underground gym, ten o'clock tonight. Don’t be late. And don’t bring anyone.”The line went dead.My heart raced. I began to wonder if I had made the right call and if Axel was going to be able to protect me from Dully. The truth was that my twin brother was the only one I had always feared when it came to a duel.He was strong, fast and brutal. Also, he had a killer instinct, and he doesn't think twice before

My face bleeding from the severe beating To think that Dully would actually hurt me was something I had never thought of. I had never had the cause to fear him, but now all I have left over is fear. With the death of Richard, I was at his mercy. "And how do we do that? Do you think Father is stupid to give that to you?" Dully asked with a smirk on his face. "I don't want to take any chances. I can just kill you here and be done with it." He said it again, making my heart skip a bit. "I am going to get it. Can you give me some time to get it done?" I pleaded. The atmosphere was tense. He looked at me, "You know I can always make you disappear? If you think you can play smart with me, then I think you need to reconsider that because the next time we are going to be having this conversation, then you are definitely going to wish you we

FEDERICK'S POV" What do you think we should do?" Garry asked staring at me. " We can just get the police to come and get them arrested." He said looking at me." And what if, one of them runs away? How do we prove that they were actually a twin?" I asked. " How do you know this?" I asked again. " I got here and you were knocked out cold. Are you sure you are alright?" I looked at Garry who was having a torn lips.It was obvious he was in a scuffle with some one here. " The masked guy was about to kill Damian." Garry said looking at me. " He wanted to kill, Damian. And why would he want to do something like that to someone you claimed to be his twin? Are you sure you are alright, Garry? I think you might have hit your head pretty hard." I replied.I know he was right about Damian being a twin but then, we need proof and not assumptions." What if we can prove it? FEDERICK'S POVThe hallway seemed to buzz with anticipation as the fashion crew approached. Every eye was on them, and yet, it felt like they were only looking at me. I sat still, my heart pounding loudly against my chest. I didn't understand what was happening. One of the women, dressed in an elegant black suit and dark sunglasses, stopped right in front of me. She smiled, but it wasn’t the kind of smile you gave a stranger — it was like she already knew me."Federick, right?" she said smoothly, her voice cutting through the excited murmurs around us."Y-Yes?" I stammered, feeling the pressure of a thousand stares. She handed me a sleek envelope embossed with a silver crest. I hesitated before taking it, feeling the weight of everyone's attention."You've been personally invited to the pre-launch event for Maison DeViere," she announced, loud enough for the students around me to hear. Gasps echoed down the hallway. "Maison DeViere," the biggest luxury fashion house in the country —

FEDERICK'S POVThe day of the competition was fast approaching. The joy of showing to the whole and all the students that I was no longer a cripple was all I could think about. My mind darted back towards Georgia and how she had told me she wanted us to be serious and move on from the next phase of being my contracted girlfriend.I got to school that morning, and I was shocked to hear about the death of Richard. At first, I tried calling Garry to see if he had heard anything about it too, but when I called him, no one was answering. I saw a lot of students bickering about how relieved they were that he died. At first, a part of me was too. I looked at the marked place on the floor. I looked up and saw he fell, just like I had too. Who might have pushed him?I knew he had engaged the masked guy. The thought of finally seeing his face was what gnawed at me. As I wheeled myself towards the hallway, my gaze met with Sasha, who had stood still looking at me. A part of me knew she knows

The clash was instant and brutal. Clark's men surged forward like unleashed wolves, each one trained for this moment—to bring Jason Carter to his knees and secure the legacy Clark had coveted his entire life. Raven stepped in front of Jason before he could react, he knives flashing from her boots and slicing the first two attackers down. Blood splattered across the dusty floor as more men poured in through the broken windows and side doors. Jason threw a punch into the chest of a soldier who got too close, then grabbed Claire by the wrist. “Stay behind me!” he shouted. But Claire didn’t listen. Her eyes were wide with terror, but there was also fire there. She grabbed a fallen gun from the ground and pointed it at the oncoming wave. “I can fight!” she screamed. “No!” Jason barked, trying to pull her back. Another blast erupted. Bullets tore through the room. Dust, screams, and the metallic scent of blood filled the air. Raven flipped a chair toward one of the men and slammed a

Dully's POV Damian opened his eyes; I could see the look in them. He was frightened and scared. But it was exactly what I wanted. "Do you think you can get away with it?" I said, getting up from where I sat. I had a grim face that showed I was pissed at him."Give me a reason why I shouldn't kill you?" I said, walking closer towards him. Damian looked away. "Do you think I didn't know you tried to kill me too?" "Oh, really? And you think you can get away with murder?" I asked, staring at his face. "How brazen of you." I said with a smirk."Why don't we settle it right here, right now?" I said, walking back to my seat. "You want to have me killed; I say go for it." I threw a dagger at his feet. "Why don't we play a game?" My eyes darted towards him. "I don't want to play." Damain said without picking up the dagger. "Pick up the dagger!" I shouted back at him."And what if I don't want to fight you? What if I don't want to play this dirty game of yours? Will you kill me the same

Damain's POV "Damn it!" I shouted, looking at Richard. "You said you got this. That was what you told me." Richard, who has lost many of his men to Ethan and Aiden, was also fuming with anger. "I wasn't expecting a counterattack. I didn't know he was planning anything, not to mention the fact that he was going to come directly to the clubhouse." Richard replied. "Do you think he knew? Do you think he knew we were going to have him killed?" I asked, looking a bit scared and anxious. "I don't know anything anymore. I think we might need to abort the assassination attempt." Richard said, running his hand through his hair."And who was that? I thought Fred was crippled? What the hell was he doing there tonight?" Richard gazed bore into mine. I was shocked as I tried to recall the accident from the previous night. My face went pale when I finally remembered what I saw. Is it not possible? He fell and broke his spinal cord. FEDERICK'S POV Aiden circled the area like a hawk. I ducked low behind the trash bins with Garry as we moved to a new hiding spot, our backs pressed against the cold brick wall. I watched as Aiden scanned the shadows, pausing once to glance suspiciously in our direction. My heart pounded so loud, I feared he'd hear it. "He’s getting too close," Garry whispered sharply. "Just stay still," I mouthed, barely breathing. After what felt like hours, Aiden finally gave up and returned to where Ethan and the masked guy stood. "We're clear," Aiden said, his voice carrying in the silent night. "Good," Ethan replied. "Damian isn't home," he added with a smirk. "Perfect," the masked guy hissed. "We kill him at the clubhouse then." Kill? My blood froze. Who were they planning to kill? Damian? Someone else? I tightened my fists. The system’s mission echoed in my mind: Stop an impending death. I exchanged a quick glance with Garry. He nodded. "We follow them," I whi
